When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you for taking time to have a look at my 100 Great Kung Fu movie list and feel free to add any movies in the comment box if they don’t make my list (I have probably forgotten many movies).

I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand moments during fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.

In 1966, when I was eight years old, my father moved our family to Houston from San Antonio to take a job as a local television reporter. Television reporting back then was more like newspaper reporting – hard work, long hours and decidedly unglamorous. In the years before live broadcasts or even videotape, TV reporters were one-man bands, investigating, filming, interviewing and then racing back to the station to develop and edit their film while writing and recording voice over.

Announced at New York Comic-Con, Christopher McQuarrie (The Wolverine, The Usual Suspects) will take on the challenge of writing, producing, and directing Rubicon, a new property intended to be made into a film, graphic novel, and videogame.
Deadline reports that co-producers Mark Long and Dan Capel describe the project as Seven Samurai meets Navy SEALs in Afghanistan to “explore the true nature of war, for both its heroes and its victims.” Since Navy Seal Team Six took out Osama Bin Laden this year, Seals have become the patriotic force of choice in Hollywood.
Long explains the origin of Rubicon:
“The three of us wanted to do a Seal project, Dan was a founding member of Seal Team Six and Chris’s brother commanded a team, but we wanted a new way in to the world of Tier One operators.”
McQuarrie adds:

Building a name by writing films like The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie has started to lead Christopher McQuarrie into the world of directing. Yes, he did helm 2000′s forgotten The Way of the Gun, but early 2013 will see the release of One Shot, his Lee Child adaptation starring Tom Cruise. Not exactly a rough transition for him.
Now, Deadline informs us that he’ll also direct Rubicon, a film centered around Navy SEALs that’s heavily inspired by Seven Samuai. The story is inspired by, in addition to Akira Kurosawa‘s indisputable classic, a forthcoming graphic novel and video game; they’re doing the whole multimedia thing here. Although they’ll all be created at once, we’ll be getting “separate but complementary storylines,” so be prepared for the sensation of getting cheated because you didn’t read the comic. Time for some multiplatform goodness. Deadline reports that a new project is developing titled Rubicon that will be a graphic novel, video game and movie. The concept, as mentioned in the headline, is indeed The Seven Samurai, set in Afghanistan, with Navy SEALs as the heroes and Taliban the villains. Producing is Mark Long and Dan Capel, and they've brought on writer-turned-filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie to not only write the script, but also produce and direct whenever this gets made. The news was revealed at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, and we've got the link to preview the first 11 pages if you're interested. "The three of us wanted to do a Seal project, Dan was a founding member of Seal Team Six and Chris' brother commanded a team, but we wanted a new way in to the world of Tier One operators," producer Mark Long said, who added that their...

Christopher McQuarrie started out as a screenwriter (winning an Oscar for his early screenplay The Usual Suspects) and briefly segued into directing with The Way of the Gun in 2000. Now he is about to get back in the director's chair for the Tom Cruise thriller One Shot, which he scripted and will direct as his second feature. And his third directorial effort may already be lined up. McQuarrie has made a deal to write, direct and produce Rubicon, which will move the story and action of Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai to Afghanistan. Instead of samurai, the group of warriors will be Navy SEALs. Deadline [1] says that this is one of those new-fangled 'cross-platform' properties, which means the intent is to turn it into a movie, a graphic novel and a video game. Producers Mark Long and Dan Capel announced the whole project today at the New York Comic Con.

Christopher McQuarrie is suddenly a very busy man. Post-2000′s “Way of the Gun”, which was also his directorial debut, McQuarrie has spent most of his time writing and doctoring Hollywood movie scripts, but will soon be making his second film with the Tom Cruise-starrer “One Shot”, that Jack Reacher movie that, thanks to Cruise’s casting, you’re either really looking forward to or dreading. Now McQuarrie, along with producers Mark Long and Dan Capel, will be heading into a suddenly very crowded Navy SEALs territory with “Rubicon”, a property co-created by the threesome that is intended to become a movie, comic book, and even videogame. McQuarrie himself will write, produce and direct “Rubicon” the movie, though when he’ll have time to actually do all those three things remains to be seen. “Rubicon” will be set in Afghanistan, and will feature a team of Navy SEALs taking...

Last night, Big Brother 13 contestant and season 8 winner Evel Dick Donato taped episode 12 of his crazy Big Brother talk show called "Dick At Night" with crazy James from Big Brother 9 and Mark Long from the first season of MTV's "Road Rules." In the clip, Evel Dick continued to express how disappointed he is with his daughter Daniele's game play. The other guys agreed that Dani was just playing on borrowed time since she tried to flip on the vets in week 3. As always, Dick took a good amount of time to bash Rachel some more, especially since Rachel harassed Dani a little bit this week on her birthday.

Actress Hilary Swank is no stranger to playing strong women. Swank delves into the sci-fi genre with Radical Pictures in this next project, Shrapnel. The film adapts the sci-fi comic of the same name written by Nick Sagan and M. Zachary Sherman and created by Sagan and Mark Long.
Shrapnel takes place in 2250 and centers on “a former Solar Alliance Marine who organizes a revolt on Venus, the last free colony, against an oppressive solar government in order to fight for the freedom of her people.” The story is said to have “elements of a Western.”
According to Variety, Radical has snagged scribe Toby Wagstaff to write the script. A director has not been set yet though there is significant interest in the project by top directors. [1] Zac Efron and Seth Rogen are set to team up for an untitled R-rated comedy based on a pitch by Judd Apatow associates Andrew Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The pairing itself seems unlikely enough, but perhaps even more surprising is which role each actor will play -- in this film, it'll be funnyman Rogen who plays the straight man, while the clean-cut Efron tackles the part of a hard-partying frat boy. The story revolves around Rogen's character, a normal guy with the bad fortune to live next door to Efron's loud, obnoxious frat house. Rogen is also set to produce the film along with his partner Evan Goldberg. Oscar-winner Hilary Swank has made a name for herself in gritty, dramatic roles throughout her career, but her latest project could have the actress looking to the stars.
Announced this week at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Swank will produce and star in an adaptation of "Shrapnel," a science-fiction comic about a female soldier who ignites an outerspace revolution.
Radical Comics' "Shrapnel" first hit shelves as a five-issue series in 2009, and was created by Mark Long and Nick Sagan, the son of veteran sci-fi novelist Carl Sagan. The screenplay for the film is being written by Toby Wagstaff.
Set in the year 2250, the story follows Samantha "Sam" Vijaya, a former Solar Alliance Marine, as her self-imposed exile on the planet Venus is threatened by the arrival of the vicious government forces. Vijaya gets caught up in the battle and soon finds herself at the center of a revolt against the military system she once served.

Director Len "Underworld" Wiseman, will develop/direct a motion picture adaption of Radical Publishing's Shrapnel, co-created by Zombie Studios' CEO Mark Long and science fiction novelist Nick Sagan. Shrapnel is a 3-part miniseries set in a dystopian future where imperialism has laid siege to our solar system and the planet Venus stands as the last free colony of humanity. Caught in the middle of the interplanetary war is 'Samantha "Sam" Vijaya', a soldier in self-imposed exile recovering from her service in the military. "...When the battle again crashes into Sam's life, she must choose to either remain on the sidelines and watch a colony's destruction, or risk her physical/psychological well-being to intervene..." The first story arc revolves around Venus, while the second arc rages across Mars and the final climax carries over onto Earth itself. "I'm really drawn to the reluctant-hero story," said Wiseman. "'Shrapnel' is a story...

Get ready for Ms. McClane in space!
The Hollywood Reporter has posted that Len Wiseman, the man behind Underworld, has picked up the graphic novel Shrapnel, created by Nick Sagan and Zombie Studios chief Mark Long. As the trade describes, Wiseman was checking out comic book stores with his daughter when he happened to see the novel the day it hit the stands -- a discovery that immediately drove him to obtain the rights.
Shrapnel is a science-fiction tale set in the future, where humans are colonizing the planets and have formed a Solar Alliance to govern them. Venus, however, is the last rebellious holdout, and "a self-exiled former Marine" has to teach Venus' inhabitants how to fight back. THR goes on to note the director's love for reluctant heroes like John McClane. But they leave out one huge detail: The marine is a woman! As they describe it on zombie.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Len Wiseman, whose past credits include Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard and who is currently prepping the live-action Gears of War, has signed on to develop and direct a film adaptation of the graphic novel Shrapnel for Radical Pictures.
Shrapnel, which was teased last year during Comic-Con by Radical Publishing, describes a sci-fi future where humans have colonized the solar system and have formed a Solar Alliance to govern all planets. The story focuses on Venus, the last rebellious holdout, where a self-exiled former Marine teaches the colonists how to fight back.
Wiseman stumbled upon the property while shopping for comics with his 10-year-old daughter, Lily. Soon thereafter, his agent at Icm was scouting the rights.
“I am really drawn to the reluctant-hero story,” said Wiseman, who noted that the last hero he directed — John McClane in “Live Free or Die Hard” — fit that archetypal mold.

Len Wiseman, the director of a few of the Underworld movies and also Live Free or Die Hard has been selected as the lucky director of the film adaptation of the graphic novel “Shrapnel” from Radical Publishing. In Shrapnel, the Solar System is one big Empire, except for Venus, the last bastion of freedom. When the fight comes to Venus, one reluctant Marine must teach a clueless population how to fight for themselves. Barry Levine will produce alongside Wiseman and Mark Gordon. Mark Long and Jesse Berger will executive produce. It’ll be live action and 3D is being considered. Thanks ComingSoon.
