On Saturday, the stars of Stargate Atlantis reunited for a panel at Comic-Con@Home, reminiscing about their first Comic-Con appearance as cast members, their initial perceptions of the show and more.
Kicking off the discussion of the cast’s first convention appearance was Rainbow Sun Francks. The actor, who played Lt. Aiden Ford, remembered that his first Comic-Con as part of Stargate was “crazy,” which led David Nykl and other cast members to chime in with further details.
“It was really daunting,” said Nykl, who played Dr. Radek Zelenka. “You’ve got to develop this sort of onstage convention personality, which is like a hybrid between your character and yourself. We had to learn that.”
Actress Torri Higginson (Dr. Elizabeth Weir) recalled that “the studio gave us all free liquor the night before” the panel. Naturally, then, she and her co-stars ended up with “a hangover that only new actors with free liquor would have.

Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) is on a diplomatic mission meeting with the Wraith. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) has never seen a hive in space before. Jennifer (Jewel Staite) comments she's never seen a Wraith before. Rodney (David Hewlett) forever the pessimist is certain they'll get double crossed now. Sheppard: "This looks a little familiar." Todd (Christopher Heyerdahl) tells his crew to lower their weapons. Sheppard (forever eying food and chicks) takes a gander at the fruit now. "Fruit bowl, nice touch." The Wraith thinking that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, ha. Jennifer talks about Michael's lab and their success against Michael spreading the Wraith virus, for which the Wraith are grateful. Sheppard says they didn't do it for Todd. Jennifer then explains gene therapy so Wraiths will never have to feed on humans again. They have organs to digest food. Sheppard throws him a piece of fruit.

Rodney (David Hewlett) on video tape doesn't recall his name and he's not a doctor anymore as he's no longer smart. He asks about Sheppard (Joe Flanigan). Jeannie (Kate Hewlett) got a message from him four hours ago and he was fine. Woolsey (Robert Picardo) wants her to have a chance to say goodbye to her brother. Sheppard tells her of the "snafu on the last mission." Dr Nicol's team hasn't called in. Sheppard and the team were sent to the town and discovered the stargate under water. He sends a message back to send through a jumper. They must stay until the stargate is accessible when the water level lowers. Sheppard complains he got wet when he had to dial the Dhd. Ronon tells Rodney he's letting the hot air out of his mouth everytime he opens it. Rodney fell asleep in the jumper when they were rescued eventually.

Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and the others talk about the planet they have checked out and about the flying monkey. Rodney (David Hewlett) claims it's not the Wizard of Oz. Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) believes the planet was suitable to inhabit. There's a power spike in the jumper and Sheppard loses the steering, then power is lost and they miss entry into the stargate. There's interference and Rodney finds there's displacement current in the jumper, which should not hit them as it's dangerous. They find themselves in decaying orbit. The pod powers up and they lose life support. The power then returns. I quite like the floating stargates in space. Being sustained there in the middle of nowhere. No other jumpers have been exhibiting such problems so it was Sheppard's flying of it, but that was funny, no? Sheppard says the alpha site is perfect except for the monkeys. Rodney says the...

Rodney (David Hewlett) complains about Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) not letting him hold the baby, after he dropped him. Rodney was dropped when he was little. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) "that explains a lot." The Daedalus arrives at Atlantis but there's no one on board. The actual Daedalus is on its way to earth so this one isn't their one. They fly to the ship and find scorch marks underneath it. As well as an energy reading. Inside there's an abandoned jumper and it's cold. I said that jumper was theirs, as will be explained later. Rodney analyzes the ship and finds it's him, "think there's a ghost on board." The log entry shows the ship was abandoned by Commander Sobol, whom Sheppard doesn't know nor has heard of. The energy reading fluctuates and the ship jumps into hyperspace. They can't reach Atlantis and Lorne (Kavan Smith) can't reach them, either. Rodney exclaims the city isn't there.

Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) complains of not getting much sleep and how Kanaan (Patrick Sabongui) is finding it difficult to adjust to life on Atlantis. Ronon (Jason Momoa) spots a body on the ground and is shot and taken. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) comments how Tyre (Mark Dacascos) would have killed him if he wanted to. Teyla believes he may still have his Setedan sense of honour. Sheppard has to ask for permission from Woolsey (Robert Picardo) to "go off world." Woolsey hasn't received Teyla's formal request to return to duty and she hasn't decided whether she wants to or not. Sheppard is sure she will return. Woolsey gets stuck in the conference room. Tyre calls Ronan and himself brothers. He recalls Sarif Sur where Ronon risked his life to save him and he's returning the favour now. Sheppard and the team visit with Solan Sincha (Sean Campbell) who comments Ronon was...

Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) thanks Jennifer (Jewel Staite) for helping Kanaan and the others get better. Jennifer owes it to Beckett's (Paul McGillion) retrovirus and she may have found a formula to help him too. She hates seeing him in a box. Of course she'll have found a way to treat Beckett cos she'll need his help now. Rodney (David Hewlett) visits Beckett and she's surprised by Rodney, cos she likes him. Woolsey (Robert Picardo) arrives on Atlantis, well he's beamed down and doesn't have any words for them. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) "nice speech - very inspiring." Jennifer finds a sticky substance on her hand as she awakes form falling asleep at her desk. Sheppard notices the new table in the conference room, which Woolsey brought with him. Ronon (Jason Momoa) thinks Carter did a good job as leader. Sheppard calls Sam a victim of her own success. Sam and Weir didn't stick to protocol either.

Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) share wine and dinner and she likes to be spend time alone with him, as does he with her; well who wouldn't want to get Sheppard alone?!! She didn't thank him for rescuing her from Michael (Connor Trinneer) and he doesn't remember that rescue, cos it never happened, at least not yet anyway. Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks) tells him he didn't rescue her; Sheppard bleeds, he was hallucinating and wakes up next to Ronan (Jason Momoa). That must have been a shock to him, as he was already in shock from his injuries. They have been buried after the explosion at Michael's compound. Sheppard seeing Ford in such a moment was his guilt on display cos he wasn't able to save him either. They've been separated from Rodney (David Hewlett) and Lorne (Kavan Smith). The Daedalus is on its way to help. Rodney...

Chicago – The world of TV on DVD is running out of candidates for lavish “Complete Series” box sets. The fact is that there hasn’t been a major hit that shut down shop in awhile and there’s been something of a gap in the production of these multi-disc gift sets between “Battlestar Galactica” and this summer’s highly anticipated “Lost” set.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0
The dearth of new network hits and the low per-season quantity of episodes for cable hits is going to make 26-disc sets like the new one for “Stargate Atlantis” fewer and farther between. Sometimes you just want something gigantic on your shelf to impress your friends in much the same way that people drive giant SUVs and the massive “Stargate Atlantis...

MGM is giving a new film an online debut, making A Dog's Breakfast available on iTunes and Amazon's Unbox on Tuesday.
Breakfast director David Hewlett is the star of another MGM property, Stargate Atlantis, a sci-fi series with a cult following online, MGM senior executive vp Charles Cohen said. That made the online push for Breakfast a natural move.
"David Hewlett's film has generated a tremendous amount of interest among the 'Stargate' fan online community, and we are thrilled to give them what they want with this initiative," he said.
Breakfast has spread the word with YouTube, where a trailer has drawn more than 250,000 views, as well as with ADogsBreakfastMovie.com. A comedy about sibling rivalry, the film features several players from the Stargate franchise, including Christopher Judge and Rachel Luttrell.
Breakfast eventually will be served up on DVD beginning Sept. 18.

Well, members of the cast and crew of Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis have gotten together for a movie -- though not in a way that fans might expect. David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis) is making his writing and directorial debut with a new independent comedy film entitled A Dog's Breakfast. The film was shot early this year and was produced in Vancouver, British Columbia during the Stargate hiatus period.

TORONTO -- MGM said Monday that it has acquired worldwide rights to A Dog's Breakfast, a low-budget dark comedy shot in Vancouver by the cast and crew of MGM's Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 while on production hiatus.
The film, directed by David Hewlett, who plays Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis, recently garnered about 100,000 views when clips from the project were uploaded on YouTube.
The movie was shot for about $1 million in January at a house adjoining Deer Lake in Vancouver. Hewlett wrote and directed the comedy, which stars Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1), Rachel Luttrell (Stargate Atlantis) and Amanda Byram (The Swan), with Jane Loughman and John G. Lenic sharing producer credits.
Breakfast follows a brother (Hewlett) attempting to thwart a new relationship involving his sister (Kate Hewlett) and her TV star fiance, Ryan (Paul McGillion).
MGM acquired all rights for the film, including TV, new media and home video.
"We are delighted to be working with David Hewlett and Kibble Prods. on this hilarious comedy," MGM executive vp Charles Cohen said.
