Skye McCole Bartusiak, best known for her role in The Patriot, died on Saturday in Houston. She was 21.
Sky McCole Bartusiak Dies
An official cause of death for Bartusiak has yet to be revealed. However, her mother, Helen McCole Bartusiak, has said she’d been suffering from epileptic seizures. "We lost our girl," her mother told CNN. "She was a kind and really beautiful girl."
“We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there,” her mother added. “[Paramedics] were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat. I’ve done CPR on that kid more than one time and it just didn’t work this time.”
In 2000’s The Patriot, Bartusiak played the youngest daughter of Mel Gibson’s character, Revolutionary War militia hero Benjamin Martin. She also appeared on the big screen in Don’t Say a Word, Riding in Cars with Boys, and Boogeyman.

Greetings from the apocalypse! Along with my trusty dog, I'm currently gunning the last of the V8 Interceptors towards a fortified gasoline refuge in the middle of the Australian outback. While I'm thus occupied, why don't you innocent clanspeople of Tomorrow-morrow Land check out some of this weekend's most fruitful distractions … unless you're chained to a car with handcuffs made out of high-tensile steel. Man, I've been there …

Oh man, oh man, oh man … The 'Mad Max' Collection on Blu-ray! It's all three of the most-worshipped post-apocalyptic vehicular mayhem movies ever burned onto celluloid, including for the first time on Blu-ray the amazingly bizarre "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome." Unfortunately there's not much in the way of new bonus content on any of these, but the prints are all glorious — especially "Thunderdome," which looks like a brand-new movie. There's a great doc on the first "Mad Max,...

Hollywood can be a tough place to navigate the transition from youth to adulthood. Child actors are usually dorky, awkward little ragamuffins. But to be an adult actor, they need you to look like you were sculpted by Michelangelo.
So making the transition from child actor to adult can be nearly impossible for some to whom nature was not so kind. Some actors, like Josh Saviano (Paul from Wonder Years) simply get out of the business. But some persevere and, with a little help from good genes and a personal trainer, become successful actors as adults.
Seeing the picture of Jonathan Lipnicki that Ae recently posted had me thinking about how some boys we remember as looking like this:
Can miraculously turn into guyslike this:
So I thought it would be fun to look at some of the other young actors who have grown up rather nicely. Keep in mind,...

Before the star’s untimely death in 2007, Heath Ledger was well on his way to two Oscar nominations. One for his quietly haunting turn in Brokeback Mountain and the other for his yet unseen portrayal of The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. His star was burning bright and like so many before him, his time came too early. Now we look back at Ledger’s ten best performances according to Flickchart viewers.
The Dark Knight
Perhaps the most horrifying portrayal of a madman captured on film. Jack Nicholson’s Joker was said to be unmatched, but then along came Heath Ledger and blew the lid off the whole film. The Joker is a lot like Jaws in that seemingly he has no motivations, nothing wanted, nothing gained, only destruction. Arguably Heath Ledger’s best performance, The Joker, represents the self-destructive, selfish nature of humanity. Each backstory he presents is one of loss,...

Mel Gibson won't be making an appearance in "The Hangover 2" after all. Just days after it was reported that the "Edge of Darkness" star has signed on to play a tattoo artist in this sequel, director Todd Phillips revealed that lack of support from cast and crew forced him to scrap plans for the actor's cameo.
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team," Todd explained in the statement released by Warner Bros and its financing partner Legendary Pictures via The Wrap. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
Rumor has it, Zach Galifianakis was among those upset with the decision to bring in Mel. Speaking to Comedy Death-Ray Radio host Scott Aukerman, he said, "But a movie you're acting in,...

I spent my youth underestimating James Stewart, and I blame Saturday Night Live. It's not that I ever doubted he was a good actor, but the imitations of his stuttering shyness were a lot more prevalent, especially since Stewart liked emphasizing that impression. (Remember his famous line about when he proposed marriage to Gloria McLean? "I, I, I pitched the big question to her last night and to my surprise she, she, she said yes!")
But there's a thousand reasons why Stewart is considered one of the greatest actors of all time, and while many of them begin with Alfred Hitchcock, there's quite a few that don't. One of them is in Shenandoah where Stewart plays one hell of a badass Southern farmer -- and "badass" and "Jimmy Stewart" aren't two things I ever thought went together. But his cigar-chomping Charlie Anderson could rival Josey Wales for hardness, and The...

Filmmakers Mischa Perez and Richard Myles of Viper Productions got in touch with comments and some exclusive photos from their new fright film Mental Scars, which was lensed in Indiana and recently premiered in Raleigh, Nc. The movie stars Myles (who has previously played Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees in fan films) as David Taggart, the last survivor of a massacred Native American tribe who lurks in a junkyard built over his people’s burial ground, and murders unwary intruders.
“Mental Scars was a monumental project for me, because I played so many important roles in addition to David Taggart,” says Myles, who also scripted the movie with John Dalton, composed the score and was one of the executive producers. “I had to get used to wearing the makeup and bandages all over my face. We shot the film last May, so the weather was fickle. I have never done...
