"If I cross a line, I ruin it." "Everything's such a mess right now..." Signature Ent. in the UK has debuted an official trailer for a sweet new British romantic comedy film called This Time Next Year, arriving on VOD in June this summer in the UK. No US date is set yet, and this hasn't played at any festivals either, despite looking pretty good. Minnie and Quinn are born on the same day, one minute apart, in the same hospital in London. Their lives may have begun together, but their worlds couldn't be more different now. Years later they find themselves bumping into each other again. Maybe it's time for her to finally take a chance on love. Lucien Laviscount (best known from Emily in Paris) and Sophie Cookson (from "Gypsy" & Infinite) star in this effervescent tale of romance, friendship and two separate lives destined to align. It's directed by acclaimed editor Nick Moore.

Love is in the air in This Time Next Year, which is heading onto digital platforms this June. More on the film below.
It’s been a pretty good few months for fans of rom-coms. We’re still pretty amazed at just how well Anyone But You has done and we’re still now over Rye Lane’s emotional punch.
Now, Signature Entertainment has acquired the UK and Irish rights to Nick Moore’s rom-com This Time Next Year, as reported by Deadline. The film is written by Sophie Cousens, based on her own book and the film stars Sophie Cookson and Lucien Laviscount as the leads. John Hannah, Golda Rosheuvel, Monica Dolan, Mandip Gill and Anita Dobson also star.
Here’s the This Time Next Year trailer:
The film revolves around Minnie (Cookson) and Quinn (Laviscount), who discover they were born on the same day in the same hospital.

The Academy picked the right year to give an Honorary Oscar to film editor Carol Littleton. They’re saluting a female editor at a time when three of the year’s major awards contenders —“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer” and “Maestro” — are edited by Thelma Schoonmaker, Jennifer Lame and Michelle Tesoro, respectively, and when other women in the mix include Hilda Rasula for “American Fiction,” Victoria Boydell for “Saltburn,” Sarah Flack for “Priscilla” and co-editors Claire Simpson (with Sam Restivo) for “Napoleon” and Oona Flaherty (with Nick Moore) for “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret.”
“The Editors Guild has about 2,900 picture editors, and 764 women,” said Littleton, a one-time president of that guild. “That’s about a fourth. So isn’t it interesting that these three big prestigious films, ‘Oppenheimer,’ and ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and ‘Maestro,’ are edited by women?”

In Matthew López’s Red, White & Royal Blue, queer love is an international incident.
The anticipated big screen adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestseller follows the first son of the United States, Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) after their lives become diplomatically entwined following a royal wedding cake snafu. Forced into a fake friendship to rehab the approval ratings of Alex’s mother, President Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman), and salvage the respectability of the Crown, the men discover there may be more love than hate between them — despite an ocean of differences as people and stifling traditions that threaten their ability to be together.
Marking López’s directorial debut, Red, White & Royal Blue sees the Tony-winning, queer, Latine playwright pull double duty as screenwriter alongside co-writer and fellow stage scribe Ted Malawer — both of whom were fans of the novel. “We...

Chicago – When we last checked in with actor and filmmaker Ashton Swinford, she had just completed her hilarious web series ”Miss Information”. She is back with a new short film, equally funny, in the white privilege satire “Basic Witches.”
“Witches” is a snapshot featuring Swinford and Sarah Aló as twentysomething city dwellers expounding on the source of their magic luck. When a fellow traveler (Vik Pandya) points out that their “magic” is a result of their social status, an incident is sure to follow. Shot in the pre-pandemic world, Ashton Swinford hesitated releasing it, realizing that the world had changed a bit, but the message remains clear.

This article contains WandaVision spoilers.
WandaVision episode 5 threw viewers, Vision, and even Wanda herself for a loop, when her long-dead twin brother Pietro Maximoff dropped into their now-80s-set Westview pad for a touching reunion, opening up a can of Marvel Cinematic Universe worms that have now spilled just about everywhere.
Pietro, as played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the MCU, originally died in a hail of bullets protecting Hawkeye and an endangered child at the climax of Avengers: Age of Ultron – Marvel’s 2015 blockbuster team-up movie where we first properly met Wanda – and Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon both promised Pietro’s death was a permanent one that they planned to honor going forward.
Well, Marvel sorta kept that promise during episode 5 of its Scarlet Witch and Vision spinoff series, managing to bring Pietro back from the dead – at least in the sitcom reality of WandaVision – by recasting the...

Pinned, Stitched, and Glitzed: Challenging Gender Stereotypes The Anya and Andrew Shiva Gallery, John Jay College, NYC September 9 - November 13, 2015
The exhibition entitled "Pinned, Stitched and Glitzed: Challenging Gender Stereotypes," on view at the Anya and Andrew Shiva Gallery, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, explores mixed media in imagery that injects refreshing diversity to an art scene steeped in minimal art, conceptual art, and the enduring New York School. Curated by Thalia Vrachopoulos the show attempts to deconstruct the traditional female gender identification with the finely crafted handwork. The artists on view employ creative methods that transgresses the social expectation that dainty, precise art is the province of women while bold powerful art is reserved for men, including trans-gender and gay men. The show focuses on a variety of wall works and paintings comprised of cumulative segments that contribute to the final unified work. Renee Magnanti, Eozen Agopian, Maria Karametou,...

How much do you love Jerry Maguire? I.m going to guess that rather than insisting it.s one of your favorite films ever made, you.re simply happy to be reminded of a virtuoso Tom Cruise performance and a witty if slightly over schmaltzy Cameron Crowe script. But two Jerry Maguire fans have found a unique way to showcase their adulation for the 1996 rom-com. They want to build a pyramid in a Californian desert using every single VHS tape ever printed of the film. Seriously. The brains behind this rather unique operation are Nick Moore and Dimitri Simakis, who run the website and collective Everything Is Terrible. This team, which is obviously diametrically opposed to everything The Lego Movie has ever taught us, re-edit clips from VHS tapes for online content and live performances. But back in 2008 they set out on a mission that even Tom Cruise.s Ethan...

The quirky and unconventional trailer of Finding Fanny has captured people's attention and the growing buzz about the film has inspired Homi Adajania to make slightly different English version that caters to the foreign audience's taste. The filmmaker has decided to rope in Nick Moore to edit the English version of the film, so that the foreign audiences, who watch the film, will understand it better. Homi also maintained that Nick's version will not be a complete re-edit and the difference between the English and hindi version would hardly be about two-three minutes. However, he revealed that the English version will be less farce and quite bizarre compared to the Hindi one. Produced by Fox Star Studios, Finding Fanny stars Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Kapoor among others and it releases on September 12 worldwide. We also hear that the film will release in certain non-diaspora territories in U.

At the time of being crowned winner of Britain’s Got Talent back in 2012, Pudsey the dog – alongside his trainer Ashleigh – had the reputation and pedigree (no pun intended), to pull in the crowds with their own feature length movie. However before hitting the big screen, there needs to be a script written, then financing needs to be found. Then there is the casting, the shoot itself – not to mention the arduous post-production process. So eventually, by the time the film is finally ready for viewing, you can’t help but wonder if there is actually anybody left who is still bothered.
Nonetheless, what can’t be denied is the good-natured sense of adventure, as we watch on as Pudsey (voiced by Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams), is taken in by Gail (Jessica Hynes) and her three children, offering this once stray dog shelter and a family. Pudsey...

The Bradford International Film Festival is typically an underground-friendly fest. This year appears to be no exception with two very special experimental film retrospectives, as well as a few modern underground-type flicks.
The 19th annual Biff will roll on April 11-21 at several locations around Bradford and Leeds in England, including the National Media Museum, Hebden Bridge Picture House, Hyde Park Picture House and other venues.
Biff is hosting a tribute to Stan Brakhage this year by screening the prolific filmmaker’s magnum opus, Dog Star Man, as well as a selection of his short films, from 1963′s legendary Mothlight to 1994′s Black Ice. There’s also going to be an epic-sized tribute/retrospective of experimental films from Austria, a country with a proud avant-garde filmmaking tradition that’s typically overlooked.

Having spent the last year sat in screening rooms and cinemas watching over 200 of 2011′s cinematic offerings, it stands to reason that I’m going to have to sit through a fair share of duds. As I had seen the vast majority of the key Oscar plays before November, I spent the latter part of the year dedicating myself to seeking out the worst, most lowest common denominator fare ripe for a skewering, and with these twenty dreadful pictures, we have what are, in my opinion, the 20 biggest train wrecks of 2011. Note that Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is still awaiting worldwide DVD release and didn’t get distribution in the U.K., so that’s one that I was forced to avoid, but I’m assured that it’s irredeemably horrible nevertheless. Anyway, on with the list…

Captain America: The First Avenger (12)
(Joe Johnston, 2011, Us) Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan. 124 mins
Unsurprisingly, this is the most patriotic of the summer's superhero movies, but there are few surprises all round. The story is largely what you'd imagine from the trailer: wimpy 1940s do-gooder undergoes a fast-track Charles Atlas course, then socks it to the evil über-Nazis. It's like Inglourious Basterds meets Indiana Jones, although the wholesome tone and white-bread heroism diminish the effects-driven spectacle, and the real second world war is reduced to mere set dressing.
Our Day Will Come (18)
(Romain Gavras, 2010, Fra) Vincent Cassel, Olivier Barthelemy, Justine Lerooy. 83 mins
Edgy provocateur alert! Expanding on the redhead persecution theme he developed in his Mia video, Gavras's debut follows ginger alienation to its conclusion, as Cassel and Barthelemy head out on the highway to oblivion, without a map or a ferry timetable.

My kids will be thrilled about this one. For the uninitiated, Horrid Henry is a series of books and now animated TV programmes about a boy called Henry who is, well, Horrid. His brother, Perfect Peter and his teacher, Miss Battleaxe feature regularly in his misadventures.
Vertigo Films, who were behind the $40m-grossing Streetdance 3D are producing a feature, live-action adaptation of Francesca Simon’s popular stories, with “Wild Child” director Nick Moore at the helm and Lucinda Whiteley on script duties.
Casting is underway and already attracting a high calibre of acting talent. Richard E. Grant (Withnail & I), Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers), Angelica Huston (The Grifters, The Witches, The Darjeeling Limited), Parminder Nagra (ER), Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh), comedienne Jo Brand and Mathew Horne (Gavin and Stacey) are all on board, with Theo Stevenson (Fred Claus, In Bruges) cast as the eponymous Henry.
