Exclusive: BAFTA-nominated Friday Night Dinner director Steve Bendelack is helming a comedy movie about an ageing rock band who reunites.
Bill & Ben Productions and Night Tide Films are combining on Heavenly Waters, which will shoot in Greece later this year.
Heavenly Waters tells the story of a rock band who, after an acrimonious split in the 1970s, agree to come together in Greece to scatter the ashes of their biggest fan, but things don’t go according to plan.
The pic is the writing debut of producer Kim Leggatt and actor David Schaal.
Bendelack is a two-time BAFTA nominee who was nominated in 2012 for Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner. He has also helmed a wealth of iconic British comedies including Spitting Image, Little Britain, The Royle Family and Mr Bean’s Holiday.
Heavenly Waters reunites Leggatt with producers Ben Timlett and Bill Jones.

On the eve of a televised talent show, an enthusiastic but dysfunctional cheerleading troop is on the brink of falling apart. But when a cursed necklace turns their rival boy band act into a screeching gang of zombies, the girls must learn to use their wits, friendship, and assorted power tools—before the TV finale takes a turn for the apocalyptic…
You know, I had no idea I needed another horror musical in my life after Anna and the Apocalypse but Powertool Cheerleaders vs. The Boyband of the Screeching Dead proved me wrong!
Much like Eating Miss Campbell, which also featured Charlie Bond and James Hamer-Morton, Powertool Cheerleaders vs. The Boyband of the Screeching Dead feels very much like a Troma movie.

The thing I noticed most about The Heiress while watching it, is that it is very, very, British for a variety of reasons that I will go into later… The story followss two sisters who live together, Clare and Anna. Clare has seizures and soon starts to see ghosts or at least what she thinks are ghosts, while her sister just thinks she is going crazy. This being a horror movie, the ghosts are real.
So why is it a very British movie? It’s kinda hard to say if you’re not from Great Britain or have never visited here but the locations, the fashion, the dialogue and the characters and the actors they play are all just so…...

Since launching in February, the online branch of Fidelski’s Fulham based acting school The Reel Scene has seen its popularity sky-rocket due to Covid-19. The main aim of The Actors Gym is to connect and support members with their online community, offering self-tape feedback, Q&a sessions with special guests, exclusive training and zoom workshops with key industry experts from a variety of fields.

It hasn’t taken long for writer/director Ross Boyask to follow up 2018’s Vengeance (aka I Am Vengeance) with a sequel, probably because that film struck a massive chord with genre fans across the globe – respecting the action genre’s vast, and may I say beloved, past, whilst delivering a modern take on the traditional Dtv action film; and, of course, featuring Stu Bennett in a compelling lead role. I’m guessing that the fact Bennett was on UK screens as part of World of Sport wrestling And had a huge name presence thanks to his former WWE career didn’t hurt either.
However Vengeance proved that Bennett was so...

"It's not a hobby, mother... I have to do it! I'm compelled to put down everything. I need to capture a way of life." Cleopatra Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for an indie biopic titled Mrs. Lowry & Son, the latest from acclaimed British director Adrian Noble. The very talented Timothy Spall continues his famous painters series by starring as L.S. Lowry. The film is a portrait of Lowry and his relationship with his mother, Elizabeth, who tries to dissuade him from pursuing his passion. The cast includes Vanessa Redgrave, plus Stephen Lord, David Schaal, Michael Keogh, John Alan Roberts, & Wendy Morgan. Why do artists always live such tormented lives?! Always so much struggle and pain, but perhaps this is where great art comes from. I like the way this trailer shows his paintings after sharing the scenes they're inspired by. Check it out. Here's the ...

A new full trailer has been released for the upcoming British comedy The Inbetweeners 2, which is a sequel to the film based on the hilarious BBC TV series. If you haven't watched this show yet you should give it a go. It's on Netflix, and if you are ok with crude humor you'll probably enjoy it.
James Buckley, Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas, and Simon Bird have reprised their roles in the film. The sequel takes them on a new adventure to Australia, "The sex capital of the world," where absurdly funny hijinks will ensue. "You know why they call it down under? Because that's where your face spends most of the time." These characters are ridiculous, and I love it!
The original cast is joined by Star Wars: Episode VII actress Daisy Ridley, as well as Celeste Cotton, David Schaal, Larissa Jones, and Susan Wokoma. The Inbetweeners 2 is...

I don't know if you've ever watched the British comedy series The Inbetweeners before, but I think it's hilarious. If you enjoy fun raunchy comedy, then you'll definitely enjoy the show. They've already made one movie, and now they have a sequel on the way. Today we bring you the teaser trailer for The Inbetweeners 2, which features the main characters Jay, Neil, Simon, and Will. It's looking like they will be causing all kinds of hijinks in the Outback of Australia.
The writers and directors of the movie, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, had this to say in a statement:
“We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas. Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon, providing they’re let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support,...

Winning accolades and fans across the festival circuit for the past year, and comparisons to material as far and wide as Ken Loach and The Sopranos (although in all fairness it is neither of those things, more like deader-than-deadpan Coen Brothers absurdity) Down Terrace has been playing in limited release for a month, and is opening in Canada commercially at the Carlton Theatre in Toronto (before expanding out to Vancouver) November 12th. I have been shamelessly been sitting on a lengthy chat with writer/director Ben Wheatley while the film played at the Fantasia Film Festival back in July. He left his copy of Sight & Sound behind as he took off to the airport after our conversation, which I scored (snack-cake!) but don't tell him. A prolific advertisement and TV director, he is as film literate and verbose has one would expect from a genre-mashing drama/comedy/gangster picture with literate and verbose characters.

[Here begins a trio of Toronto-centric posts and, yes, I apologize to those of you who don't live here.]
Fans of bleaker than bleak comedy in Canada, give a nice round of applause to Evokative Films because they're about to give Ben Wheatley's award winning black comedy Down Terrace a theatrical release on these shores. Here's the official word:
Montreal, Thursday October 21st, 2010 - After screenings at the Fantasia and Vancouver International Film Festivals, Down Terrace will be opening at the Carlton Theatre in Toronto on November 12th. This is the first English-speaking film release for Evokative Films, having concentrated its releases on International, subtitled films over the last two years.
Father and son Bill and Karl have just been released from jail, but all is not well at Down Terrace. Patriarchs of a small crime family, their business is plagued with infighting: Karl has had more than he can take of his old man's philosophizing and preaching; Bill thinks Karl's dedication to the family is seriously compromised...

Director: Ben Wheatley Writers: Robin Hill, Ben Wheatley Starring: Bob Hill, Robin Hill, Julia Deakin, Sara Dee, Mark Kempner, Kali Peacock, Kerry Peacock, David Schaal, Michael Smiley, Gareth Tunley, Tony Way Karl’s (Robin Hill) mother, Maggie (Julia Deakin), and father, Bill (Robert Hill), run a crime syndicate in Brighton, England. (Apparently, Bill is a middleman of sorts between the big wigs in London and the small time crooks in Brighton.) This not-so-average middle-class family has issues on a normal day -- Karl has severe anger management issues and throws tantrums that would make a 2-year old blush, Bill is overtly patronizing and condescending, and Maggie is the queen of passive-aggressiveness -- so when the additional stresses of a possible snitch and an unplanned baby are added to the mix, their already fiery personalities begin to combust. Down Terrace commences as Karl and Bill return home after a frustrating court case involving Karl.
