Stranger Things‘ newest star is already winning hearts before the much-anticipated release of the Netflix hit show’s second season.
Dacre Montgomery, who plays the mysterious new guy in Hawkins, Indiana, Billy, appeared on The Talk Thursday and was surprised with a clip of his audition for the show, in which he wore nothing but a thong.
“Name’s Billy,” he says in the tape, taking off dark, round sunglasses while staring at the camera. “Nice to meet you.”
Laughing, Montgomery, 22, said, “I feel, like 99 percent of the planet, I was a huge fan of the first season. So, I don’t know,...

“A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl,” he said. “It makes it even: three girls, three boys. It’s left blank. It’s a cliff-hanger.

After a few posters and cast announcements you would think that the PR for the new Power Rangers move would slow down. But with Sdcc around the corner the nerd world is a bit different. So now we’re treated to some shots of the cast with these very cool looking headshots.
So here we have Dacre Montgomery as Jason Scott/Red, Rj Cyler as Billy/Blue, Naomi Scott as Kimberly/Pink, Ludi Lin as Zack/Black, and Becky G as Trini/Yellow. While these look very cool you know me I always want more shots of the suits and can I get some Megazord love here? If you’re going to Sdcc our new Rangers will be in attendance and various events. Anyone hoping for a teaser? Power Rangers releases March 24th, 2017

Look Lionsgate, weapons, suits, zords. These are the things I need to see dammit.

With a full, and really rather impressive, cast now in tow, Lionsgate has premiered the official logo for Saban’s Power Rangers movie, the live-action feature film headed to the big screen in early 2017.
Vancouver is currently playing host to the studio’s movie adaptation of the beloved superhero series – first hatched by Saban Entertainment in 1993 – where Rj Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery are donning those iconic color-coded outfits as the titular teens.
Angel Grove, beckons, and Dean Israelite is the director bringing the Rangers to life. Also on board for the superhero origins tale are Pitch Perfect‘s Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, the infamous alien villain that develops a seemingly insatiable appetite for intergalactic destruction, and David Denman. With a new generation of Power Rangers comes a new generation of villains and teammates for audiences of all ages to get acquainted with. In the case of Dacre Montgomery's Jason Scott / Red Ranger, we'll not only get to know him personally during his quest to become one of Earth's greatest heroes, but we'll also get to know the father that helps keep him grounded. THR reported the casting of David Denman, best known for his role as Roy on the U.S. version of The Office, as Sam Scott . Jason's father. In his official character description, Sam is described as "at odds" with Jason's football career, so it can only be imagined how he'd respond once he found out about his son's habit of saving the world. The role comes after we've seen Denman in such films as The Gift and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. With...

All of the Rangers are in place, Pitch Perfect director and star Elizabeth Banks has been cast as Rita Repulsa, and Dean Israelite’s live-action reboot has its crosshairs placed on a March 24, 2017 release window.
Yes, barring a slight delay to production, Lionsgate’s Power Rangers movie has hit the ground running, recruiting Rj Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery as the titular teens. Fast forward to now and The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that David Denman (13 Hours, The Gift) has been added to the burgeoning cast as Sam Scott, father to Jason Scott Aka the Red Ranger.
Not much is known about the extent of Denman’s role in Power Rangers, other than the fact that he will spend a fair chunk of screentime butting heads with his son over a potential career football. But there are bigger matters at hand – extra-terrestrial ones, to be exact.

Another cast member has joined the Power Rangers reboot of the kids action TV series of the same name (or at least of similar name). According to THR, David Denman has signed onto the film.
The outlet explains that Denman's role will be that of Sam Scott, father of Jason Scott -- the red ranger in the group. Sam will reportedly be at odds with Jason on his son's football career. We'll obviously have to wait and see if he'll be an overzealous parent, or one who wants his son to focus more on his schoolwork.
Fans most likely recognize Denman from his recurring role as Roy in the U.S. version of The Office. The actor also recently showed up in Michael Bay's 13 Hours.

The Malware Museum is one of the Internet Archive's latest contributions to the world of online ephemera, and it's quickly become one of our favorites since it launched earlier this month. Built by Jason Scott with an assist from the Archive's Mikko Hypponen, the Museum collects and spotlights viruses from the early days of the Internet in the 1980s and '90s. Most were Dos-based, some are silly, and some are just kind of beautiful. Weirdly transfixing, right? Obviously, they've been neutered, and are effectively just animations now, but this would have destroyed your computer had you stumbled across it back in the day.

The Internet Archive has just released one hell of a late Xmas present for pretty much anyone with a working computer. Nearly 2,400 Ms-dos games are now available on the website to be downloaded or played directly from your browser. Everything from the shock-shooter Duke Nukem 3D to nostalgia fuel like Oregon Trail (and everything in between) are now up and running on the web site for the entirely reasonable price of–wait for it–$0! Find them all here.
Being billed as “the Ms-dos project”, this public service was prefaced by an announcement from Jason Scott, the software curator for the project:
I really worked hard to have only fully-functioning programs up, or at least, programs that gave viable, useful feedback. Some of them will still fall over and die, and many of them might be weird to play in a browser window, and of course you can’t really save things off for later,...

Got a lot of extra time and a nostalgia for old arcade games? We've got exciting new for you. Thanks to Archive.org (Internet Archive) and emulation software that works through JavaScript, you can now play 900 retro arcade games.
Jason Scott , who combined the Mame and Jsmess projects, had this to say about "The Internet Arcade":
Of the roughly 900 arcade games (yes, nine hundred arcade games) up there, some are in pretty weird shape – vector games are an issue, scaling is broken for some, and some have control mechanisms that are just not going to translate to a keyboard or even a joypad. But damn if so many are good enough. More than good enough. In the right browser, on a speedy machine, it almost feels perfect.
I tested a couple games and it's amazing to see game emulation in a browser and working on so many classic titles.

The Internet Archive has made 900—yes, 900—classic arcade games available to play in an internet browser. Right now. Housed at the Internet Archive, the Internet Arcade debuted on Nov. 1 with hundreds of cherished games that can be played in just about any browser—though currently they run best in Firefox. The catalog of offerings is a variety that should touch on at least a few cherished favorites, ranging from racing games like Out Run to paper delivery simulator Paperboy to fighting games like Street Fighter II. Booting up any of the games is quick and easy, but not all are guaranteed to work.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Universal are planning to reboot Timecop. Destined for another big screen outing, this time producers Mark Shmuger and Tom McNulty are developing the time travel actioner under the Global Produce label.
Based on a story by Dark Horse Comics, Timecop was originally introduced as a three part tale in an anthology. The 1994 adaptation was penned by the comic’s creators Mike Richardson and Mark Verheiden. Directed by Perer Hyams and starring Jean Claude Van Damme as the time enforcement officer, the flick follows the Timecop as he solves crime across the ages. THR stated that Universal are on the hunt for writers for what will be “a re-imagining of the concept.” News first broke back in 2010 about Universal’s desire for a new Timecop franchise. At that time the project...

The Factory
Opens: 2011
Cast: John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter, Ksenia Solo, Mae Whitman, Sonya Walger
Director: Morgan O'Neill
Summary: An obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, New York. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any pretension and professional restraint he might have to get the killer.
Analysis: Shot almost three years ago now, Dark Castle had originally planned to release this thriller back in late 2009. However for reasons unspecified, it has been sitting on a shelf for some time and keeps getting delayed. In cases like these, the most obvious reason is usually the correct one - it stinks (eg. "Case 39"). The company certainly has had its fair share of box-office duds lately including "Whiteout," "Ninja Assassin," "The Losers," "Orphan" and "Splice".
Yet Cusack generally has good taste in projects, his last venture into horror was the surprisingly effective Stephen King...

Text adventures games, particularly those released by Infocom, are a large reason I’m a writer. As a pale, pasty, and virtually friendless kid, I spent most of my time playing games like “Zork”, “Enchanter”, and “Planetfall” in the comforts of my darkened bedroom. As such, my interest in documentary filmmaker Jason Scott’s “Get Lamp” — a movie about the history of the text adventure game — is through the proverbial roof. It’s the documentary I never knew I’d always wanted to see, and the trailer alone fills my tiny brain with wave after wave of overwhelming nostalgia. If you fondly remember those bygone days when graphics and sound effects didn’t matter, “Get Lamp” might strike your fancy, as well. For more information about the film, including the picture’s current screening schedule and DVD information, check out the official website. In the meantime, the trailer is waiting patiently by the white house.
