When you hear the words “professional wrestler,” whose face comes to mind? “Well, let me tell you something, brother…” there may be no more iconic figure in the world of professional wrestling than Terrence Gene Bollea. But you may know him as Hulk Hogan.
So Wtf happened to Hulk Hogan? With a career that spans over 45 years, a lot. Let’s start at the beginning. But before we do, let’s keep in mind that the source of a lot of what follows is Bollea, himself. The complete record of Terry Bollea’s life is My Life Outside the Ring, his 2009 autobiography, which is more exhaustive than 2002’s Hollywood Hogan. In an industry stocked full of duplicitous people, Hulk Hogan’s long been considered to have perhaps the most strained relationship with the truth of any of them. But neither should we let the truth get in the way of a good story.

James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" will be the final adventure for the eponymous cosmic team — but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the end of the line for the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For all the hype surrounding the trilogy's final entrant, there's also cause for concern among MCU fans. With Gunn currently serving as the co-head of DC Studios, it's safe to assume his time playing in the MCU sandbox is drawing to a close for now. But again, what of the Guardians themselves? Professional wrestling is no stranger to the word ‘scandal’. By virtue of this, the industry has never elected to shy away from courting controversy.
The (sports) entertainment medium known as pro wrestling is pre-determined. In 2015, that’s hardly a shocking statement, but there was certainly a time when it was.
In 1987, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan and The Iron Sheik played polar opposites on WWF television. Duggan was a patriotic babyface, whereas the Sheik was portrayed as a foreign heel menace. Behind the scenes, the men were good friends and travel partners. When they were busted by police for drugs whilst riding together on the road, it caused some problems for the company that employed them.
In ’87, the idea of wrestling being outed as ‘fake’ was appealing to the mainstream media, and they jumped all over the story.

What has been billed as the final batch of Superstars for WWE 2K16 has been confirmed this afternoon.
Here are the names in full: Bray Wyatt, Mikey Whipwreck, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E), Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady, Stunning Steve Austin, Superstar Steve Austin, Rusev, American Bad Ass Undertaker, Baron Corbin, Brian Pillman, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Konnor, Viktor, Mark Henry, Ministry Undertaker, Ricky Steamboat, Savio Vega, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, Sting ’99, Sting Blonde and finally the two Terminator renders.
The new names show how in-depth the Stone Cold mode will be. It looks like we’re going to be travelling right through his days as a Hollywood Blonde with Brian Pillman and that feud with Ricky Steamboat, stopping off for a cup of coffee in Ecw to feud with Mikey Whipwreck (and maybe Sandman?), and then going through his main run in WWE, including the 2001 Royal Rumble.

The advent of WWE Network has allowed World Wrestling Entertainment to put a greater emphasis on former titans of the squared circle. The company has gone to great lengths to pay homage to those memorable masters of the mat who have kept the sports entertainment industry strong and profitable for the last 40 years.
Video games, books, magazines and action figure lines have been devoted to immortalizing the likes of Hulk Hogan (until recently), Bruno Sammartino, The Ultimate Warrior and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. A “Legends” clothing line has resulted in Randy Savage, The Iron Sheik and Rick Rude being emblazoned on WWE t-shirts for the first time in decades.
As much focus as WWE has put on the continued respect and admiration for those who laid the groundwork for today’s generation of wrestling stars, they have continually demonstrated poor use of some of the legendary stars they bring back into the fold.

In the latest weekly WWE 2K16 update from IGN.com, 22 more names have been announced as part of the game, set to be released this October:
Aiden English, Andre the Giant, Batista, Chris Jericho, Curtis Axel, Dean Ambrose, Edge, Erick Rowan, Fandango, Jbl, Luke Harper, Randy Savage, Natalya, Rick Rude, R-Truth, Ryback, Santino Marella, Sgt. Slaughter, Simon Gotch, Stephanie McMahon, The Rock and The Undertaker.
It’s an interesting mix of talent with English & Gotch recently winning the Nxt Tag Team Titles. There are also Hall of Famers in this group like Edge, Randy Savage and Sgt. Slaughter. The late Rick Rude isn’t in the WWE Hall of Fame yet, but he certainly should be considered in the future.
WWE diva Natalya commented on Twitter on how she was blown away by the details of her ring attire.

There were more names announced today for the WWE2K16 video game that launches in October.
Here are the names that were announced by IGN.com: Diamond Dallas Page, Alicia Fox, Cesaro, Tyson Kidd, Cameron, Big Show, Bam Bam Bigelow, Dolph Ziggler, Finlay, Layla, Kevin Nash, Lex Luger, The Miz, Naomi, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Darren Young and Titus O’Neil.
There aren’t that many surprises in that grouping since a lot of them are current stars. Legends like Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow and Lex Luger are all welcome additions to the new game and Finlay has worked backstage in WWE for over a decade, so even though he’s not currently on television, he’s a long time employee and his inclusion isn’t too surprising.
Here’s a video of Kidd and Cesaro’s entrance.

Another batch of Superstars were confirmed for the WWE 2K16 roster this week as Triple H, Booker T, Colonel Mustafa, Eva Marie, General Adnan, Kalisto, Kane, Sin Cara, Summer Rae, Tamina, Emma and Lord Steven Regal were announced as the latest additions to the 120 unique character list.
While most of the reaction was sent the way of Adnan and Mustafa, two of the more controversial Superstars from ‘The Federation Years’, it’s the inclusion of William Regal’s WCW persona Lord Steven that is arguably more of a surprise.
This is because a WCW presence wasn’t expected at all in the new title. 120 Superstars, or so we thought, was just about enough to cover everyone on the current roster, a healthy number of Nxt stars, and a plethora of legends from WWE’s past. Also, a WCW Dlc pack consisting of Bam Bam Bigelow, Diamond Dallas Page,...

New screenshots from WWE 2K16 and a video of Kalisto’s entrance are now available. IGN released the photos and video as part of their promotional partnership with 2K.
As you can see from the above John Cena screenshot, the graphics are fantastic in terms of lighting and texture. However, one area of concern is how unrealistic Cena’s face is. While it is recognisable as the WWE Us Champion, it isn’t exactly the picture perfect likeness.
IGN also revealed that the following names are now confirmed for the roster –
Booker T
Colonel Mustafa
Emma
Eva Marie
General Adnan
Kalisto
Kane
Lord Steven Regal
Sin Cara
Summer Rae
Tamina
Triple H
There’s definitely some interesting names in there, especially with the old school vibe on Lord Steven Regal, Colonel Mustafa and General Adnan.

Hulk Hogan tells TMZ Sports ... he's devastated over the news of his friend Roddy Piper -- saying, "I will forever miss him." "He was my best friend. He is a legend." Hogan adds, "God's gain is our loss. May his family in this time of need, find peace. Much love forever, Hh." Hogan and Piper were the two of the biggest stars in wrestling back in the '80s -- and famously did battle at...

Pro wrestling has never been reticent to hop on a bandwagon, which makes it something of a cultural barometer, capturing the wider trends and happenings of any given era. At the height of the Gulf War, Sergeant Slaughter teamed up with General Adnan and Colonel Mustafa only to be defeated by Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and a wave of fervent patriotism from the stands; The Hardy Boyz’ ascent coincided with the mainstreaming of alternative culture, all finger gestures, cargo pants and moody expressions; and in a particularly memorable 1998 episode of Monday Night Raw, Val Venis almost suffered the same fate as John Wayne Bobbit (though, in fairness, Bobbit’s ordeal was five years beforehand).
But the haircuts… Nothing encapsulates a time and place like a bowl cut, a faux hawk or frosted tips. Pro wrestling is no exception, especially the Attitude Era. Beyond the headlines and storylines, there...

Depending on the age of the wrestling fan The Iron Sheik is either known primarily as the man who took the loss that began Hulkamania or as the funny old lunatic who delivers routine vulgarities in 140 characters or less. Born in Iran as Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri this WWE Hall of Famer has reinvented himself to the current generation in the unlikeliest of ways: Twitter.
Before The Sheik was a social media sensation he was carving out his legacy in the squared circle. He was one of WWE’s top stars during the boom of the 1980s and even held the top title for one month. The Sheik’s anti-American gimmick and his real-life toughness made him more than memorable.
As much as he could connect in a heelish way with an audience the real Sheik might just be more outlandish than the character who stepped into the ring.

Perhaps the name Khosrow Vaziri isn't immediately familiar to you, but if you're a person of a certain age, than you remember growing up with The Iron Sheik. One the most fearsome villains in the heyday of the WWF, the wrestler has gained a new life outside the ring thanks to his unique, outrageous social media presence. And the forthcoming documentary "The Sheik" dives right into his digital world. Directed by Igal Hecht, and featuring Hulk Hogan, Dwayne Johnson, Mick Foley, Seth Green, Jack Black, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Bret Hart, King Kong Bundy, Koko B Ware, Brother Love, Ron Jeremy, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, and more, the doc goes all the way back to tell the story of Vazirir's journey to America, and what's it like to be a 72-year-old father, husband, and grandfather, who also happens to be a sensation online. And in this exclusive clip, you can get...

When Hulk Hogan defeated The Iron Sheik for the World Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Championship in 1984, the wrestling industry was practically revolutionized overnight. Under Vince McMahon’s watchful capitalist eye, the Rock ‘n Wrestling era began and “sports entertainment” was delivered to the masses, whether they be adults or the children of the day. This led to all sorts of merchandise, including music albums, stickers, cartoons, video games, and of course, toys.
It’s hard to remember a time when there wasn’t some sort of WWF/WWE-branded toys on store shelves, most of which involved action figures. Once World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling began attracting more attention on a national scale, they wasted little time in joining the plastic ring wars as well.
Of course, the collector’s boom that kicked off in the 90’s following that of comic books likely helped, as that...

The best villains are always the ones that you kind of root for no matter how dastardly they are, as they’re just too charismatic and/or funny to be ignored. The Iron Sheik is one such character. A perfect mixture of timing and personality made one man a household name, just not as Khosrow Vaziri.
The life of The Sheik is an interesting one, with many highs and painful lows, but naturally, he’s still more the sum of a simple character (or is that caricature) that he played in the wrestling ring. But does The Sheik sell us on that idea, and does it give us a reason to care beyond the mere celebrity of the man?
Fans of the golden age of the World Wrestling Federation, now World Wrestling Entertainment, will surely be drawn to this film, and understandably so. A number of big name wrestlers including Hulk Hogan,...

There are so many great docs on the various institutions, characters, fans and businessmen that make up professional wrestling. Stories about Hulk Hogan, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, Bret Hart, and even the feature film "The Wrestler" have not only stocked festivals like Tiff and Hot Docs, they have also been very successful in theatres and on television. "The Sheik" is yet another tale from this so-called sport, but this time it features one of the most disliked heels to ever enter the ring. Lucky for us, the story of Khosrow Vaziri and his roller-coaster of a life is just as compelling as fake wrestling.
