My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. So, if you love the heart, optimism, great story, and fantastic animation...

The alternate reality "Captain Luthor" really being John Henry Irons was a huge twist in Superman & Lois' first season. The character, played by Wolé Parks, has had a recurring presence in the series ever since and donned an impressive suit of armour on several occasions.
He's even earned himself the "Man of Steel" moniker, but a newly revealed photo from Superman & Lois' series finale seemingly confirms John will finally suit up as Steel.
As you'll see in the photo below, graffiti depicts Irons in his trademark armour, albeit with a red cape and Superman's iconic "S" shield on his chest. While this could be little more than an Easter Egg, season 4 may see him finally take on that iconic "Steel" moniker as another of Metropolis' protectors.
Parks was among the actors who were let go from Superman & Lois amid budget cuts, though many of those previously recurring cast members are...

Could The CW have one last Arrowverse crossover up its sleeve? Following remarks made by Tom Cavanagh at a convention over the weekend, TVLine has confirmed that the Flash vet will appear in the series finale of Superman & Lois, appropriately titled “It Went By So Fast.”
Cavanagh originally hoped to direct the pivotal episode, having previously helmed the Season 1 finale and Season 3 premiere, but the gig was already promised to frequent Superman & Lois director Gregory Smith. That’s when showrunner Todd Helbing got an idea, one that will leave fans theorizing for months to come.

Love or hate the Arrowverse, there's no denying that Tom Cavanagh's performance as the Reverse-Flash was hard to find fault with. As the years passed, The Flash diluted the character by having the actor play multiple versions of "Harrison Wells." However, in the suit, Cavanagh proved himself a truly formidable villain.
His story ended in the Scarlet Speedster's series, but we can look forward to at least one final appearance from the actor in the DC Universe.
Superman & Lois will conclude with its fourth and final season later this year, and unlike Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, the show's creative team have received enough notice to craft what we hope will be a satisfying ending.
The question now is, will that ending include an appearance from Eobard Thawne?
Appearing at Fan Expo Philadelphia this past weekend, Cavanagh reflected on his work as a director behind the camera in the...

It seems that the decision to cancel Superman & Lois after its fourth season was influenced by James Gunn’s DC Universe, particularly Superman: Legacy. Brad Schwartz, the president of The CW, shared insights into the show’s conclusion at the Television Critics Association event. He explained that the series was brought to an end due to Warner Bros.
Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch in Superman and Lois
Considering DC Studios’ efforts to establish a unified DC Universe, the cancellation may not come as a complete surprise. With DC Studios aiming for a unified DC cinematic universe, it’s understandable that having different Superman portrayals across TV and film could get confusing. Superman & Lois was developed by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti for The CW network. The show stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane.

The late Norman Lear’s life and legacy took center stage tonight at the 2023 Sentinel Awards at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.
The awards, which celebrate the storytellers behind some of the year’s most impactful stories, heard a statement from Lyn Lear read at the start of the show by Marty Kaplan, founding director of the Norman Lear Center.
“I would have been there tonight if not for the passing of our beloved Norman. He was so proud of the work of The Lear Center and Hollywood Health and Society. In a sad bit of coincidence, the Hollywood, Health & Society at the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center honored its 2023 Sentinel Awards winners on Wednesday night, just hours after the passing of its namesake and inspiration, the legendary Norman Lear.
Emmy-winning comedian and writer Larry Wilmore hosted the event and introduced this year’s 11 winners, including writers behind the series “Mrs. Davis,” “Fleishman is in Trouble” and “Tiny Beautiful Things.” But before the awards were handed out, Wilmore took a moment to pay tribute to Lear. And remarks from Lear’s wife, Lyn, were shared with the audience.
“Well you got to say this about Norman – the man knew how to make an exit,” Wilmore joked. “He knew his audience. And wanted us to make sure we were all listening.
“A giant has left us and we’re going to do him proud,” he added. “This evening meant a lot...

Change has been in the air at The CW over the last year as the network grapples with shifting its programming strategy.

The news was announced by CW president Brad Schwartz in a statement.
"Over the last three seasons, Superman & Lois redefined both the superhero genre and family drama as Tyler, Elizabeth and the entire cast effortlessly portrayed these classic characters with new layers of depth and complexity that had never before been explored in the Superman universe," the statement reads.

‘Superman & Lois’ consistently ranked among the top CW superhero shows, opting to distance itself from the Arrowverse and carve out its unique identity. Despite maintaining a strong and steady viewership with solid ratings, the threat of cancellation loomed over the show even before the conclusion of its third season.
Although the series primarily delves into characters and Superman’s family life, its production costs remain high. As the narrative evolved, the focus shifted away from superhero action scenes, a trend that continued over time.
The acquisition of CW by Nexstar brought about a restructuring of the network, leading to the cancellation of several shows. Miraculously, ‘Superman & Lois’ survived this upheaval, but not without changes. Just days before the Season 3 finale, news broke that the show would continue under new leadership, albeit with budget cuts in tow.
The upcoming fourth season will undergo significant alterations, with a shortened episode count of only ten.

Tyler Hoechlin in ‘Superman & Lois’
The CW’s confirmed that Superman & Lois starring Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm) will wrap up with the upcoming fourth season. The superhero action series was the last remaining holdout from The CW’s old comic-book-inspired primetime lineup that included Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Batwoman, Stargirl, and Gotham Knights.
Season four will consist of just 10 episodes and is expected to air in 2024.
“While we’re sad to say goodbye to Superman & Lois at the end of Season Four, we’re grateful for the time we’ve had with our amazing cast, crew, vfx teams, editors, musical geniuses, and writers. Since the day this show was first discussed, it was about family. And that’s what was created—on and off screen,” stated executive producers and co-showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher.”

It’s curtains for “Gotham Knights” at The CW. The network will not move forward with a second season of the DC series, Variety has learned.
The series was absent from a statement of upcoming programming from the CW, which announced renewals of both “Superman & Lois” and “All American: Homecoming” for the 2023-2024 broadcast season.
The news about the future of “Gotham Knights” comes more than two weeks ahead of the date that the series is slated to air what would now be its series finale. The program premiered on March 4 and was set to conclude its 13-episode first season on June 27.
From Warner Bros. Television, “Gotham Knights” follows Bruce Wayne’s rebellious adopted son, who forms a team with the children of Batman’s enemies. Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams co-created the series and served as executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden of Berlanti Productions.

The CW has renewed Superman and Lois for a 10-episode fourth season, following months of negotiations. It will be the last remaining DC series on the network next season.
Superman & Lois, which was part of the CW’s Arrowverse, was one of three shows on the network — all from Warner Bros. Television and studio-based Berlanti Productions — which were awaiting renewal decisions, alongside All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights.
As reported by Deadline earlier this evening and later confirmed by the CW, Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming are getting picked up for next season alongside previously renewed tentpoles All American and Walker. Freshman series Gotham Knights has been canceled.

The “All American” spinoff and college drama will return for 13-episode third season while the superhero drama comes back to the network for a 10-episode fourth season.
“We are thrilled to bring ‘All American: Homecoming’ and ‘Superman & Lois’ back to The CW,” The CW Network president of entertainment Brad Schwartz said in a statement. “These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. Exclusive: The CW is nearing renewal decisions on the three remaining scripted series in limbo, Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights, sources tell Deadline. Because of the shows’ high price point compared to the lower-license-fees model the network is shifting to in pursuit of profitability, I hear two of the three series — Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming — would return for another season, joining previously renewed tentpoles All American and Walker. Update 6 Pm: The CW has officially renewed Superman & Lois for a 10-episode fourth season and All American: Homecoming for a 13-episode Season 3.
To make it happen, I hear producing studio Warner Bros. Television made a proposal about a reduced license fee it could make the shows for. While not close to the $1 million an episode the new CW regime had been targeting, I hear it was a significant reduction that could make the series...

The CW is going through its catalog of shows amid some decisions in which the new fall schedule would rely heavily on Canadian shows and unscripted television. The network has had a history of hits with superhero properties and drama series geared toward the teen market. Some of their biggest shows came from the Arrowverse, which consisted of Arrow, Superman & Lois, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Batgirl, etc. The CW has since canceled a number of them while others naturally come to an end, but the current slate isn’t necessarily on solid ground despite some being winners.
Deadline is now reporting that programming for the channel is looking at the expense of these shows like Superman & Lois, Gotham Knights, and All-American: Homecoming since they cost a lot of money to produce and the network doesn’t have streaming rights. Brad Schwartz, the President of Entertainment at The CW,...

Unlike villains from seasons past, Superman & Lois‘ latest invader doesn’t hail from a distant planet. As revealed on Tuesday, this season’s greatest threat is much closer to home.

Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 1
At a time when the movie and TV DC Universe is rapidly evolving, it’s refreshing to find that Superman & Lois is, right out of the gate, as good in its season three premiere as it was all through its freshman and sophomore years. And that first episode, “Closer,” picks up just a few short weeks after the spectacular season two finale, just in time for Jonathan and Jordan Kent to celebrate their 16th birthdays, and for new threats to begin rearing their heads, including a resurgent (and suddenly superpowered) Atom-Man, the mysterious and deadly Onomatopoiea, and a character with deep ties to one of the greatest creators in comics history: Jack Kirby.
And amidst everything else in that season premiere is just how, well, horny Lois and Clark are for each other. It’s part of a refreshing...

It’s up, up, and away for Season 3 of The CW’s cinematic family drama Superman & Lois, which returns with comic book couple Clark Kent and Lois friskier than ever, even as they juggle, well, family dramas. “It’s a dense season this year,” says Todd Helbing, who co-showruns with Brent Fletcher. “We came in with a pretty clearheaded view of what we wanted to do, and with 13 episodes, we’ve gotta get moving and kind of start setting the table.” Fletcher adds that “everybody’s got a big arc. …There’s no character left behind this season.” And they aren’t kidding. Picking up almost a month after the Season 2 finale, in which our Earth nearly merged with the doppelgänger-filled Bizarro World universe, the premiere is titled “Closer.” Explains Helbing: “Closer to...

Superman & Lois likely will continue “for one or two more seasons,” according to DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Gunn and Safran spoke about the Greg Berlanti-produced CW series during a press event Monday. “It’s a show everybody likes, so it’s going to keep going for a little bit,” said Gunn when asked about the show.
The third season of Superman & Lois premieres March 14 on the CW, picking up weeks after Superman’s blowout defeat of Ally Allston at the end of Season 2.

The Walking Dead‘s Michael Cudlitz has been tapped to play a new version of Lex Luthor in the upcoming third season of CW’s Superman & Lois. The actor confirmed the news, first reported by EW, on Twitter.

Ah, the glory days of early 2000s television, when studios scrambled to capitalize on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Friends," and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Enter The WB's "Smallville," a Superman prequel based on the blue boy's formative years, before he donned the tights, red underwear, and cape. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lane, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Sam Jones III as Pete Ross, and Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, the series offered a fun spin on the Superman story and tinkered with iconic characters in a way that made them feel fresh. Lex Luthor, for example, starts out as Clark's best friend and gradually devolves into his comic-book counterpart. At the same time, Superman regulars such as Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) were given makeovers to properly update them for the modern era; ditto...

If Jared Pedalecki and Jensen Ackles were the heartthrobs of The CW, Mark Pedowitz was its heartbeat.
When Nexstar announced its completed acquisition of (75 percent of) The CW on Monday, it installed board member Dennis Miller, a venture capitalist with executive stints at Sony, Lionsgate, and Turner, as the broadcast network’s new president. Though The CW never quite soared like so many of its DC superheroes, the decade-plus under Pedowitz had its moments — and its misses. IndieWire looks back on both below.

Jordan Elsass will not be returning for the third season of “Superman & Lois.” In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Warner Bros. Television cited “personal reasons” in its explanation for why the actor would not reprise his role as Jonathan Kent, which will now be recast.
“Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to ‘Superman & Lois’ for Season 3 due to personal reasons,” Warner Bros. Television said in a statement on Tuesday evening. “The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast.”
