Exclusive: Producer Scott Einbinder (Killer Joe) has launched LA-based management and production company 5X Media.
Einbinder was formerly Co-CEO of China-backed Cristal Pictures, which co-financed and co-produced Ryan Reynolds pic The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and financed and produced the China – Hong Kong action-comedy Twin Blades, with Beth Behrs and Ma Li, which is in post.
Literary manager Seth Nagel, a founding partner, heads the management division. Michael Swidler, most recently a TV literary agent at Paradigm, has joined 5X Media as a manager working alongside Nagel, representing writers and directors.

He is looking to develop projects in the family space.

Ashley Judd is set to star in the upcoming YA drama “#Fbf,” a movie that takes place almost entirely on smartphones and computer screens.
The format, initially seen in films like “Searching” with John Cho, allowed the actors to be filmed in their homes in Los Angeles, Nashville, Anaheim, New York and other remote locations amid the pandemic.
“#Fbf” follows teenager Annie (Cree Cicchino), who accidentally takes her mom’s (Judd) laptop instead of her own to visit her father in New Jersey. Annie soon realizes the laptop is everything she needs to pose as her mom for the day, repair her parents’ marriage and encourage them to move back from Florida.
Ilyssa Goodman (“A Cinderella Story”) is directing the film from a screenplay that she wrote with Ashley Peter (“The Morning Show”).

Exclusive: Kelly Hu will lead the feature film Breast Cancer Bucket List from producers Autumn Federici and Jake Helgren under their production banner, The Ninth House.

The pic marks the 16th collaboration between Willis and producers Randall Emmett and George Furla. It’s also the second feature between the Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs and co-founders and Eskandari following Trauma Center, which also stars Willis and is in post.
In The Long Night from screenwriter Doug Wolfe, two ruthless criminals break into a disgraced doctor’s home to be given medical attention after one of them is shot during a robbery gone wrong. Knowing that he lacks the expertise to patch up the injured trespasser, the doctor must protect his family at all costs.
Cameras will roll on June 3 in Columbus, Georgia in concert with the Columbus Film Fund. Emmett and Furla will produce with Tim Sullivan, Alex Eckert, and Ted Fox serving as executive producers.

Exclusive: ABC has put in development Legacy, a drama from feature producer Debra Martin Chase, which is described as a sexy soap and a modern-day twist on the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations. Jeremy Anderson and Patrick Moss will write the script and will co-executive produce. Martin will executive produce. This marks Martin’s first sale under the overall deal with ABC Studios she signed in August.
