Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Filming...

Just a couple days after saw some great images of Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal on the set of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again – where they reprise the roles of Marvel heroes Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Frank Castle / The Punisher, characters they originally played on shows that were released through the Netflix streaming service (and can now be found on Disney+) – it has been revealed that Daredevil: Born Again has wrapped production. Central Casting broke the news by sharing a picture of Cox at the wrap party.
The show didn’t have an easy ride through production. Filming started in early 2023, then when the strikes hit, it was decided that it needed to undergo a creative overhaul. This overhaul has ensured that this new series is now directly connected to the Daredevil series that ran for three seasons on Netflix. As of the recent Daredevil-related series Echo, all...

“Love and death are the two great hinges on which all human sympathies turn.”
-B.R. Haydon
Love and death are the two most powerful forces in human experience. They are the engines of our stories because they are the engines of our existence. Our hopes, desires, heartbreaks, and fears so often hang on these two factors—ever-present and constantly in tension. Horror, more often than not, preoccupies itself with the latter but from time to time, a really great horror love story comes along. Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson’s Spring is not only a great love story but an acknowledgment of the eternal balance of love and death that connects us to each other, the ancient and ongoing human story, and perhaps even the infinite.
Spring is quintessential Moorhead & Benson, who from their first feature, Resolution (2012), to their most recent, Something in the Dirt (2022), have explored vast and...

Palm Springs International Film Festival programmers have set this year’s lineup.
The desert festival, which runs Jan. 4 to 15, will open with the U.S. premiere of Thea Sharrock’s Wicked Little Letters on Jan. 5. After a world premiere at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and its North American premiere over the weekend at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Noah Pritzker’s (Quitters) second film goes for a mix of Woody Allen, John Cassavetes, Paul Mazursky, Noah Baumbach and other white male filmmakers, past and present, who enjoy basking in the midlife marital crisis in which many guys find themselves trapped. While not on the level of those acclaimed filmmakers, in this case, Pritzker manages to cast his net wider into an early-, mid-, and late-life crisis over three generations of the men in the Pearce clan.

The following contains major spoilers for Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise (2023).
Of the many horror franchises, few are as creatively violent as The Evil Dead. Sam Raimi’s 1981 original garnered an Nc-17 rating for “substantial horror violence and gore” and Stephen King described the low-budget indie as “the most ferociously original horror film of the year.” The film follows Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), his sister, and three friends as they travel to a cabin in the remote woods and accidentally summon demons with an incantation from the Book of the Dead.
In 2013, Fede Alvarez directed the fourth franchise installation, Evil Dead, a remake/sequel following Mia (Jane Levy), her brother, and three friends in a similarly doomed cabin. Ten years later, the Deadites have returned to the big screen with Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise which tells a stand-alone story about a similar Book of the Dead. Found...

1. Evil Dead 2 (1987)
What can be said about Evil Dead 2 that hasn’t already been said? This film is a masterpiece of horror-comedy, and it’s still just as effective today as it was when it first came out in 1987. Sam Raimi and team were firing on all cylinders here; they...

There’s no franchise like the Evil Dead franchise. Four quality entries that each, in their own way, have managed to push the boundaries of originality, black comedy, fear and fun. Not to mention buckets, troths and otherwise gnarly amounts of blood and gore. That’s the Evil Dead Way, after all.

(Welcome to Scariest Scene Ever, a column dedicated to the most pulse-pounding moments in horror with your tour guides, horror experts Chris Evangelista and Matt Donato. In this edition, Chris advises you to not cut your own face off while watching "Evil Dead" 2013.)
The idea of a remake of "The Evil Dead" seemed like a form of blasphemy at one point, but horror hounds appear to love Fede Álvarez's remake/reboot/reimagining/etc, the 2013 film "Evil Dead". Me? I'm somewhere in the middle. I love the nasty, gory, overwhelmingly bleak atmosphere Álvarez and company created for the film. However, a lot of the dialogue is so painfully bad that it takes me out of the movie on more than one occasion. To credit Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead as the motivating force behind “Revenge of the Remakes” wouldn’t be an audacious claim. By golden template standards for reanimating beloved horror franchises, it remains a remarkable exemplification alongside titans like Maniac or The Blob. As an underworldly standalone feature, it’s one of the fiercest, scare-you-senseless releases since its April 2013 premiere. I still remember every howl, sunken gasp, and pure release of elation during my midnight showtime—”That’S How You Execute A Remake,” dominating lobby chatter and ride home discussions. From there, reactionary adventures into do-over culture solidified as the investigative analysis you’ve been reading on Bloody Disgusting month after month.
Were your feathers rustled after I dared suggest 2009’s Friday the 13th understands Jason Voorhees’ mythos and fanbase better than its initial trilogy? Strap in deadheads, because this is the one where I hail 2013’s Evil Dead as King.

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) changed his name multiple times on You. But in many ways, he has stayed the same. This season 4 twist calls back to a shocking season 1 murder.
[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers from the You Season 4 episode, “The Death of Jonathan Moore.”]
‘You’ Season 4 has a poisoning scare
“She’s Not There” starts with Joe finding where he kept Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). He apologizes and gives her food. What he didn’t know was that Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) was hiding in the shadows, hearing him promise Marienne that he would fix it and free her.
Joe leaves, but he later returns to Marienne. He gets a text from her friend that her daughter is returning to her grandmother. They assume that she deserted her. He gave the mother food and a coffee before trying to free her. Marienne started feeling unwell.
“What did you do?” she asks him. “I didn’t do anything,” he claimed. Marienne took off the lid of her drink.

Odin’s Eye Entertainment announced today that Smile‘s Caitlin Stasey and Evil Dead‘s Lou Taylor Pucci have joined the cast of Jonathan auf Der Heide’s horror Devil Inside, Bloody Disgusting learned.
In the vein of 28 Days Later and It Comes at Night, the film explores the ‘what if’ question of a cross-species contagion, in this case from a Tasmanian Devil, the last of the marsupial carnivores.
The duo star alongside “True Blood” and Precious actor Ryan Kwanten.
In the film, “Stasey plays the role of Eva, a young virologist, who helps the local park ranger (Kwanten) research the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease – a contagious cancer that has wiped out nearly 90 of the population.

Something strange is going on. The Halloweenies are back at the cabin, only there’s no Ash. The Delta is outside, sure, but there’s no sign of our chainsaw-wielding lothario. No, there’s a new darkness within these woods — one that’s wrapped in plastic and harnessed by barbed wire. You might call it an abomination. Damn, things sure got ugly around here… and fast.
Join the gang around the cellar door as they unchain Fede Alvarez‘s 2013 reimagining of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead. Together, they debate whether or not this is a remake, a requel, or a sequel before praising the depth of the story, the performances of Jane Levy and Lou Taylor Pucci, and all the practical effects. Special guest includes Rachel Reeves of Rue Morgue.

Warning: The following podcast contains spoilers from the season one finale of AppleTV+’s dramedy series Physical, “Let’s Get Together”
Today we talk with the creator and EP of Physical, Annie Weisman, as we breakdown the season one finale of Physical, which AppleTV+ recently gave a second season to yesterday. Even though Sheila’s (Rose Byrne) husband Danny (Rory Scovel) lost the local San Diego election, she is clearly poised to blast off as a 1980s aerobics queen-pin with a potential video distribution contract, leaving her associates, surfer Tyler (Lou Taylor Pucci) and mall exercise guru Bunny (Della Saba) in the dust. Weisman always knew the ending would involve Danny losing, and Shelia with one foot out the door. However, the provocative final scene where Sheila finds herself across the mall, lustfully eye-to-eye, with Mormon real estate mogul John Breem (Paul Sparks) –a guy who understands her ambition, drive...

Ahead of Physical‘s Season 1 finale Friday on Apple TV+, the half-hour dramedy from Annie Weisman has been renewed for Season 2.
Rose Byrne stars as Sheila, a woman in the early 1980s who is struggling with bulimia but begins to ascend from housewife to aerobics video star in the face of her husband’s run for a local political office in San Diego. The series tracks her epic journey from a stifled, overlooked enabler to a powerful, confident economic force as Sheila transforms into someone we take for granted today but was entirely radical at the time — the female lifestyle guru.
In Friday’s finale, titled “Let’s Get Together,” Sheila entertains an intriguing proposition while her business associate Bunny’s (Della Saba)finances and Tyler’s (Lou Taylor Pucci) health come to a head.
Rory Scovel, Dierdre Friel, Paul Sparks and Ashley Liao also star.
