After House of the Dragon, another Game of Thrones spinoff is progressing. Owen Harris of Black Mirror fame has been announced as the lead director of the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Some of Harris’s directorial credits include acclaimed episodes of the anthology series Be Right Back, San Junipero, and Striking Vipers. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, about the improbable partnership of Ser Duncan the Tall or Dunk, described as a young, naive, yet courageous knight, and his squire Egg. The story will be set a century before the events of Game of Thrones...

Among the many memorable characters created by Martin who were brought to life on screen, Euron Greyjoy played by Pilou Asbaek is a chilling and ruthless antagonist who has stayed in the minds of fans across the world. The actor though, had a bone to pick regarding the fate of his character in the finale, and requested Martin to rewrite the ending.

Game of Thrones was a phenomenon back when it first aired. The HBO series, based on George Rr Martin’s novels, would go on to enthrall fans for years, making fans fall in love with Westeros (not with its inhabitants though). It all seemed to be going well, until, well…, Season 8 happened. The fandom, which couldn’t contain its excitement for the culmination of the series, was not to be found after the finale of the show aired. HBO knew they had messed up, and they are now taking steps to set things right, including hiring Black Mirror director, Owen Harris.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms has found one of its directors.
Owen Harris, who has directed episodes of Black Mirror including the San Junipero episode, will helm three of the episodes for the Game of Thrones spinoff.
It comes as HBO revealed that the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight novella will feature six episodes. This is fewer than the first seasons of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Some breaking news from Westeros: The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has added a major talent from Black Mirror to serve as its debut season’s lead director, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Owen Harris has boarded the HBO drama as an executive producer and will also direct the first three episodes, establishing the directorial vision for the series. Harris is best known for helming two of Black Mirror‘s finest episodes — “Be Right Back” and the widely acclaimed “San Junipero.”
In addition, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ episode count has now been revealed: The first season will be six episodes, making for a tighter opener than the 10-episode first seasons of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The run time seems appropriate given Knight is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight rather than one of his 900-page epic novels.

Brian Helgeland’s illustrious Hollywood career includes winning an Oscar for writing “L.A Confidential,” directing Heath Ledger’s beloved 2001 comedy “A Knight’s Tale” and scripting films such as “Man on Fire” and “Mystic River.” It also could’ve included a “Game of Thrones” spinoff series had HBO moved forward on his pitch, which was titled “Ten Thousand Ships” and centered on Queen Nymeria.
“It came out great, but I think they felt the period of my show was too far removed from the pillars of the original,” Helgeland recently told Inverse about his spinoff. “That’s why it hasn’t been picked up yet, but nothing is ever dead. My script was based on Queen Nymeria and this little blurb about her that was in a Westeros encyclopedia.”
“Essentially, it was the story of Moses but swapping him out for Nymeria,” he continued. “Her country gets ruined and her people...

Thanks to the blockbuster adaptation of Game of Thrones followed by the prequel House of the Dragon, prolific author George R.R. Martin attained cult status in Hollywood. The writer who was also involved in the production of the show, transported global audiences to his fascinating fantasy world of medieval feuds and politics that was aptly brought to life by showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss.

Now, fans of the series have a treat in store as Martin’s The Hedge Knight will be made into a series. The Game Of Thrones spin-off has cast former rugby player Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall. While the athlete’s towering personality is still not a match for the extreme height the character requires, Martin assured fans that he will be made to look exactly like how he was envisioned.

Kit Harington announced in a new interview with ScreenRant while promoting his movie “Blood for Dust” that his “Game of Thrones” spinoff centered around Jon Show is “off the table” and no longer in development at HBO. The network declined to comment. News broke in June 2022 that Harington was set to return to his iconic “Thrones” role, which earned him two Emmy nominations (one for supporting actor and another for lead actor in a drama series).
“It was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us,” author George R.R. Martin later confirmed in a blog post. “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”
Now talking to ScreenRant, Harington admitted the team “couldn’t find the right story to tell” so the project is not in active development anymore.

With first successful Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon roaring back to our screens for a second season this June, there is some forward movement on another Westeros-set series. Boasting the slightly unwieldy title (for now) of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, the series adapted from George Rr Martin's Dunk & Egg stories has found, well, its Dunk and Egg. Wreck's Peter Claffey will play Ser Duncan the Tall, while Dexter Sol Ansell, most recently seen in the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, is on board as his diminutive squire.
With Ira Parker overseeing the series alongside Martin, the Dunk & Egg stories are set between House Of The Dragon and the main Thrones time period. They focus a young, naïve but courageous knight called Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire. The friends travel Westeros in a time when dragons...

Although many critics were skeptical of "House of the Dragon," arguing that the finale of "Game of Thrones" was so horrendous that it may have killed any audience interest in another TV show set in the same universe, the 2022 spinoff's first season was a pretty clear success. It was so good, in fact, that it's now paved the way for a new spinoff series, once again set in Westeros during the Targaryens' reign.
That's right: "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight," which was officially greenlit by HBO in 2023, has now cast the largely unknown actor Peter Claffey as the young knight Dunk, plus the 9-year-old Dexter Sol Ansell as the pre-pubescent Egg. Details are still sparse, but we know the casting department's got their priorities right: the 6'4" Claffey seems perfect for the famously tall Dunk, who eventually earns the nickname Ser Duncan the Tall. The book The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, written by Suzanne Collins, has been adapted for the screen by director Francis Lawrence, alongside screenwriters Michael Lesslie and Michael Arndt. The film delves into the chillingly formative years of Panem, a society not yet inured to the brutality of its central spectacle. This prequel, starkly contrasting its YA predecessors, morphs into a harrowing adult political thriller, unraveling the genesis of the Hunger Games with a disturbingly poignant lens — that is, when it can get out of its own way.
The film stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman and Hunter Schafer.
The film starts during the dark days before the first Hunger Games. Two children, Coriolanus (Dexter Sol Ansell) and Tigris (Rosa Gotzler) are running for their lives in a snowy Panem. They arrive at the home of their grandmother and receive news that...
