This article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 finale.
Mickey Haller’s life has been very eventful. From working out of the back of his car at the beginning of season one to his own office, his own staff, and being on the front page of every newspaper in the country, the titular Lincoln Lawyer from Netflix’s hit series The Lincoln Lawyer has had quite a turn-around. A high-profile murder case ending with your client getting executed vigilante-style in broad daylight tends to boost your profile. Now sober and ready to build his life again, Mickey (Manuel García-Rulfo) has clearly made the most of his second chance.
He’s clearly busy. Mickey spends season 2 rushing around from interview to interview, case to case, striking while the iron is hot. He’s stretched thin, and that strain is falling on everyone around him. The LA Times interviews and horseback riding lessons are all fun,...

Over the years we’ve had a ton of horror films that take the tropes of the TV “ghost hunter” show and use them to tell a terrifying tale. Although, for me, many of these films didn’t really work as a) they were often as schlocky as the shows they mirrored; and b) a Lot of them used the confines of found-footage, behind the camera views to tell their story. And I personally Hate the found-footage format!
However there seems to be a current tread for genre films to not only use the ghost-hunting format to tell a scary story but also to parody the trope as well. Recently we had Hoarders, which poked...

At the moment, cinema seems to have artificial intelligence on the brain. Later this year, Alex Garland will pull the curtain off "Ex Machina," but he's not the only one presenting a tale where technology and humanity come together. At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, director Matthew Leutwyler will premiere "Uncanny," and today we have an exclusive clip from the film. Starring Mark Webber, David Clayton Rogers, Rainn Wilson, and Lucy Griffiths, the film follows David Kressen, a roboticist who seems to have created the world's first "perfect" artificial intelligence, which he names Adam. But soon enough, it starts to exhibit startling and strange behavior. In this clip, we see some of what Adam can do, as technology reporter, Joy Andrews, learns about its many special and distinct qualities, from athletics to intellect. "Uncanny" will have its first screening at Sbiff on Saturday, January 31st at 7 Pm, at Metro...

A self-acknowledged "showcase for Academy Award frontrunners," the Santa Barbara International Film Festival is often overlooked for the actual films that earn it festival status. An amalgamation of international discoveries and ’merica’s circuit highlights, the Sbiff curates a week of best-of-the-best to pair with their star-praising. The 2015 edition offers another expansive selection, bookended by two films that aren’t on any radars just yet. Sbiff will open with "Desert Dancer," producer Richard Raymond’s directorial debut. Starring Reece Ritchie and Frieda Pinto, the drama follows a group of friends who wave off the harsh political climate of Iran’s 2009 presidential election in favor of forming a dance team, picking up moves from Michael Jackson, Gene Kelly and Rudolf Nureyev thanks to the magic of YouTube. The festival will close with "McFarland, USA," starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bello. Telling the 1987 true story of a Latino high school’s underdog cross-country team,...

So far, Nashville has shied away from tapping into Music City's vast stable of stars for celebrity cameos, focusing instead on the fictional fame of Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). We told you last month about Bryan Singer‘s H+ The Digital Series, the futuristic online series where the human race is hardwired to the Internet – it does sound great, doesn’t it? but apparently in the series, this is a “bad” thing – and we’re happy to report that the first two episodes are now live.
Admittedly, I haven’t always been a fan of web series. This, however, is great. It is completely professional in every way, with absolutely top notch production values. "Jane By Design" has wrapped up its first season, but star Erica Dasher, who plays the titular teenage fashionista/high-schooler, says she hopes that Season 2 will happen because there are plenty more stories to tell.
"We want it," Dasher tells Zap2it of a potential Season 2. "Nothing is resolved at the end of this season -- I think we have to come back. We'll live in this very unresolved world!"
Photos: "Jane By Design" Season 1
Besides, she wants to see her friends again. "It's such a gift to work on this show because we get along. Everybody genuinely gets along. I hear that it's not always like that. I'm really happy to keep working on this show. I have so much fun!"
Her costar David Clayton Rogers tells Zap2it something very similar: he also hopes they get a second season. "We've all talked about it," he admits. "From the...

Tonight, ABC Family airs the last episode of the first season of Jane By Design. Will the show be cancelled or be given a second season instead?
Jane By Design follows a quirky teenager who has a unique fashion sense. By chance, she gets hired at a hip fashion house and must juggle her job responsibilities while still attending high school. The cast includes Erica Dasher, Andie MacDowell, Rowly Dennis, India de Beaufort, Ser'Darius Blain, Brooke Lyons, Nick Roux, Meagan Tandy, Matthew Atkinson, and David Clayton Rogers.
The TV series debuted in January to 1.6 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The numbers for week two dropped about 30% but came back up again in weeks three and four.

The first season of 'Jane By Design' came to a close with surprise twists, new beginnings & one major cliffhanger! (This show Needs a second season.) When Jane By Design creator April Blair told me everything would be "put in jeopardy" for Jane (Erica Dasher) on the July 31 summer finale, I didn't realize what an understatement that really was. While Jane began the hour with a major victory in London, she ended it with a disappointing realization about Billy (Nick Roux) — and a very uncertain future at Donovan Decker! I think the best way to break down the drama is to take things couple by couple, beginning with... Ben & Rita: As promised, Ben (David Clayton Rogers) made his triumphant return home this week, but he didn't just do it for Jane! He also professed his love for Rita (Smith Cho), who returned his affections by interrupting his baseball practice with some intense Pda.

It's hard not to be jealous of Erica Dasher's problems at work. Her character on ABC Family's "Jane By Design" -- high-schooler by day, fashion assistant by other times of day Jane Quimby -- has two very cute boys to choose from. Things are heating up with Eli (Bryan Dechart), her slightly older designer coworker, but there's always been an unspoken attraction to her Bff Billy (Nicholas Roux).
"I'm a very lucky girl," Dasher tells Zap2it. "I'm just surrounded with beautiful men all the time. I don't know what I did in a past life, but I'm pretty thrilled about it."
On Tuesday, July 17, Jane and Eli finally go on the date she's been owed since her birthday. "It's obviously complicated because he doesn't know her age, and because he's Gray's nephew. There are a lot of what-ifs in the air. I think Jane is completely unsure how to handle it.

Obviously on a show called "Jane By Design," the double life exploits of high schooler/fashion assistant Jane (Erica Dasher) will take center stage. But in "The Online Date," Jane's older brother, Ben (David Clayton Rogers), is in the middle of the action.
While baseball coach Ben's relationship with guidance counselor Rita (Smith Cho) lasted about an episode on screen (two months off-screen), it's clear the two still have feelings for one another. Now that ex-mean girl Amanda (Briga Heelan) is back in town after a stint as an actress in Los Angeles, Rita has some competition for Ben's affection.
"She comes in and is like the popular mean girl opposite sweet Rita," Rogers tells Zap2it. "I believe she played a dead body on one episode of some crime procedural, so she comes back basically as the success story. She has not really gone through the maturation process that some others have.

Plus, Jane reveals a Huge secret — but it's not the one you might think! Jane (Erica Dasher) has always wondered what life would be like if her mom came home, and on the June 26 episode of Jane By Design, she finally got her answer: It pretty much blows. On her first day back in town, Kate (Teri Hatcher) managed to work her way into Jane's love life and work life, nearly blowing her big secret to Gray (Andie MacDowell). Of course, Kate's meddling wasn't a total loss. She pushed Jane to ask Eli (Bryan Dechart) on a date, and even though she didn't go through with it, at least Jane learned that Eli is definitely interested. Kate eventually poured her heart out to her kids — Ben (David Clayton Rogers) was especially resistent to her return — so it looks like the Quimby family is on the road to recovery. Speaking of Ben,...

When Teri Hatcher signed on to appear in four episodes of "Jane By Design," she was originally supposed to show up in the fourth episode of the ABC Family dramedy's summer run. But star David Clayton Rogers says everyone was so eager to have her on set, the writers penciled her in earlier.
"She was excited to come on and everyone was so excited to have her [that] they went ahead and condensed some storylines to get her there sooner," he tells Zap2it.
Hatcher will debut on Tuesday, June 19 as the absentee mother of 16-year-old Jane (Erica Dasher) and her older brother Ben (Rogers). Why she comes back is still unknown, Rogers says.
"Her exact reasoning is a little bit of a mystery, and she doesn't really open up to us for a while. The basic vibe she gives off is of that free spirit -- spend a little time here,...

Jane by Design 1.12 "The Celebrity" Review
Jane Quimby is we and we is Jane Quimby. Or something.
The major appeal that somebody like Jane has is that she's meant to represent the every(wo)man, the underdog. We're supposed to almost like vicariously live through her trip into the fashion underworld, as dreams are being fulfilled, victories are being earned, and the weird, whimsical kid in her class finally comes into her own. It makes following her journey on Jane by Design both enjoyable and frustrating, though; while you want to see Jane continue to grow and learn more about the business we call fashion, the closeness that we feel to her and the kinship that has been formed amplifies mistakes. Jane has been pretty okay at handling herself in the adult world, but once she slips, it tends to lead to cringe-y moments and some major secondhand embarrassment.

Plus, another fan-favorite couple takes a serious hit! Worst Valentine's Day ever. Jane (Erica Dasher) got a taste of fame on the June 12 episode of Jane By Design when she was photographed alongside Donovan Decker's latest high-profile client, but her new celeb status caused major problems for her friendship with Billy (Nick Roux). And while Billy was crushed at first, his budding relationship with new-girl Zoe (Mariah Buzolin) provided just the distraction he needed. Meanwhile, India (India de Beaufort) and Gray (Andie MacDowell) continued to draw their battle lines this week — and they each came prepared with a secret weapon. Gray tried to use India's relationship with Jeremy (Rowly Dennis) to manipulate her, while India used Gray's jealousy of Eli (Bryan Dechart) to manipulate him. India clearly came out the victor of this particular round, as she threatened to expose Jeremy as the mole if he didn't help her take...
