HBO has set a new premiere date for Jude Law and Naomie Harris’ interactive drama The Third Day.
The limited series will launch on Monday September 14. It was originally set to start airing on Monday May 11 but was pushed back due to the Coronavirus production shutdown.
Deadline understands that production on the show wrapped back in the winter but the show was not finished in post-production as Covid-19 hit and the extra time allowed the team time to finish.
The six-part series, which is a co-production with British pay-tv broadcaster Sky, was created by Dennis Kelly and Felix Barrett. It also stars Katherine Waterston, Emily Watson and Paddy Considine.
The series will tell three, stand-alone but interconnected stories. Two of them will form part of the show’s six-episode run, while the third will take place in the UK as a live event.

Marc Munden will direct with Adrian Sturges producing alongside series writer and co-creator Dennis Kelly. Variety reports the following synopsis for the series:
Law stars as Sam, who after being drawn to a mysterious Island off the British coast, is thrown into the unusual world of its secretive inhabitants. Isolated from the mainland, the rituals of the island begin to overwhelm him, and he is confronted by a trauma from his past. As the line between reality and fantasy blurs, Sam finds himself immersed in a quest that puts him at odds with the islanders.
This sounds interesting and like it could get a little crazy. Production is set to start in July, and we should be seeing this series...

This comes after the Billions and Homeland star signed up to A+E Networks’ factual series Spy Wars, which he will co-produce, marking his nascent indie’s first project.
In an interview with Deadline, Lewis said that he wants to produce and direct across genres and has already lined up to develop a feature film, another television series and a play.
“It’s an opportunity for me to create some exciting drama and comedy,” he said. “It gives me an opportunity to be creating things from inception.”
He admitted that it was early days and these projects needed time to “percolate”. But he added, “It’s a way to work independently with other producers, authors and talent to make compelling and provocative content.”

Channel 4 has unveiled the first look at the Alessandro Nivola-fronted series adaptation of Lucy Kirkwood’s critically acclaimed play Chimerica.
The broadcaster is set to launch the four-part series, from Colin Callender’s Playground Entertainment, this spring.
Chimerica, written by Kirkwood, examines the changing fortunes of the U.S. and China. Nivola plays the lead, an American photojournalist who tries to discover the truth behind the iconic, career-making image he took of a lone man defying the tanks that rolled into Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989.
Chimerica starts in China’s Tiananmen Square in 1989 as young American photojournalist captures a piece of history as tanks roll through Beijing and soldiers hammer on his hotel door. Twenty years later, he is covering a presidential election, marred by debate over cheap labor and the outsourcing of American jobs to Chinese factories. Embankment Films has sold British rights to Lionsgate U.K. for romantic drama “Summerland,” starring Gemma Arterton and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Variety has been given the exclusive first-look image for the film, which has just wrapped production.
The pic is the feature debut of British playwright Jessica Swale, who won an Olivier Award for her play “Nell Gwynn,” in which Arterton and Mbatha-Raw both starred. Swale won BAFTA’s Jj Screenwriting Bursary for “Summerland” in 2012.
The film centers on fiercely independent writer Alice (Arterton) who “secludes herself in her clifftop study, debunking myths using science to disprove the existence of magic,” according to a statement.
When a spirited young man, Frank, an evacuee from the London Blitz, is placed in her care, “his innocence and curiosity awaken Alice’s buried emotions… perhaps magic really does exist.”
