A new era is dawning at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Or is it a rehash of an earlier era?
As of the close of Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 1, Bailey is the new head of the internship program. Again.
Yes, Bailey is a true icon, and great cheers erupted across the internet when she began her famous opening line - "I have five rules."
While all long-time Grey's viewers love an excellent callback, are the writers relying on nostalgia and semi-recycled storylines to maintain that level of success?
And if they are, is that a bad thing?
We've seen several intern classes over the years, and to be honest, a lot of them are forgettable. This is the first class where the writers attempt to recapture the magic or, in this case, M.A.G.Y.K.

The star’s creep back to mainstream movies needs expediting with another junky Netflix offering that feels beneath her talent
The curse of auburn-haired American women heading to Ireland for terrible magic-themed romcoms continues, 14 years after Amy Adams took an unfortunate vacation in the detestable Leap Year (a film that even her co-star Matthew Goode generously referred to as “turgid” within weeks of its release). There’s less at stake here – Adams was a two-time Oscar nominee leading her first romantic comedy – but we’re left in a similarly unremarkable place, a persuasive tourism ad masquerading as a real movie.
That might have sounded like a big enough get for star Lindsay Lohan a few years ago, when she was still trying to break her way out of Hollywood jail. A mixture of bad film choices, bad life decisions and bad behaviour left her an uninsurable pariah, even if she...

What do John Cena and Bella Baxter have in common? At the 96th Academy Awards, both drew attention to the gender pay gap Hollywood costume designers have alleged for years.
On Oscars Sunday, “Poor Things” snagged 11 nominations and four wins. That included Best Costume Design for Holly Waddington and her vision of what a Franken-woman and her suitors would wear in Victorian England. Cena appeared as the category’s presenter — promoting “Ricky Stanicky” and/or his “Barbie” cameo? — in a nude illusion joke that was specifically designed to emphasize the importance of the craft.
“Jimmy Kimmel’s camp was sort of honoring everybody who went through the strike and us all getting back to work and being unified,” costume designer Katja Cahill told IndieWire of the night’s theme and Cena’s cheeky moment. “The idea was to make it funny, but also call attention to the importance and the...

Sony’s Madame Web hit theaters worldwide on Valentine’s Day, and the film is getting universally panned by critics and fans alike.
Criticism is being aimed at almost every aspect of the movie, including its messy plot, sub-par dialogue, poor special effects, and miscasting of its star ensemble.
Much criticism has been directed at the casting of Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter, the awkward teenage girl destined to become a Spider-Woman.
However, as these five previous roles prove, Sweeney hasn’t always been so miscast as she was in the terrible Madame Web.
Sharp Objects
Sydney Sweeney as Alice in Sharp Objects.
The miniseries Sharp Objects is an HBO psychological thriller based on Gillian Flynn’s brilliant 2006 debut novel. It chronicles the exploits of an alcoholic crime reporter, only recently discharged from a psychiatric ward after self-harming for years, who returns to her hometown to investigate the murders of two young girls.

Social media rules are being held up in court, but that’s not stopping NYC from suing Big Tech firms
Eric Adams is going to war against the titans of the tech industry. The mayor of New York City has announced lawsuits against Meta, ByteDance, Google, and Snap, alleging that those companies’ platforms harm the mental health of young users.
The suit argues that apps like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat were “designed, developed, produced, operated, promoted, distributed, and marketed…to attract, capture, and addict youth, with minimal parental oversight.” The legal action is supported by New York institutions, including the local school district and several health organizations, but the suit was filed in the Los Angeles County branch of the California Superior Court. Attorneys for the plaintiffs explained that the case was moved across the country to account for the defendants’ ties to California.
The New York City government is hoping to show that the platforms in question breached local laws related to public nuisance and gross negligence.

Tribeca Festival Reschedules Robert De Niro Celebration “De Niro Con” to Coincide With 2024 Festival
The Tribeca Festival has once again rescheduled its “De Niro Con” celebration of festival co-founder Robert De Niro.
The event will now take place from June 14-16 to coincide with the 2024 Tribeca Festival, set to run from June 5-16 in New York City.
The fan event in celebration of De Niro’s 80th birthday was originally announced at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, during a star-studded private ceremony at the Tribeca Grill, and set to take place from Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023. But it was postponed until April 2024 amid the writers and actors strikes last year.
The latest delay, the festival said, was done to leverage the festival’s expanded footprint and reach, and make sure anyone attending the festival could also participate in the De Niro celebration.
De Niro turned 80 on Aug. 17, 2023. He has since earned awards acclaim, including an Oscar nomination, for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon, for frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese.

Eric Adams loves talking about how New York City is the greatest city in the world, a concrete jungle where dreams are made and there’s nothing you can’t do. The mayor pressed the point again on Sunday, arguing that the city is so full of possibility that its residents could be killed in a terrorist attack on any given day.
The strange bit of promotion came during an interview with Pix 11’s Dan Mannarino, not long after Adams simply replied “New York” when asked to describe 2023 in one word.

Lambe, who is from Iqaluit, Nunavut, made her film debut in The Grizzlies, and then co-starred in CBC indigenous drama Trickster. Lambe also guest-starred on other series like Alaska Daily and the fourth season of HBO’s True Detective, set to debut in winter 2024.
The comedy from Red Marrow Media and Northwood Entertainment has also tapped Anna Adams to be the producing director ahead of production set to start in Nunavut in spring 2024.

Batman is very much a superhero who needs a support staff, and one key member of that support staff has always been James Gordon. A committed Gotham City cop (and eventual police commissioner), Gordon is one of Batman's most trusted allies and has been played by a wide range of actors over the years, with an equally wide range of interpretations. From Neil Hamilton in the Adam West "Batman" TV show in the '60s to Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy, Gordon has always been a key figure in Batman's universe.
Most recently, Jeffrey Wright ("Westworld") took on the role alongside Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in 2022's "The Batman." Directed by Matt Reeves, it was a dark, gritty take on this corner of the DC Universe that felt relatively grounded in reality. So, it makes sense that Wright actually based his take on Gordon...

The musicians suing The Weeknd have reached a settlement agreement with the Canadian artist.

The The Weeknd had denied the copyright claim and allegations that the songs featured similar “lead guitar and vocal hooks.”
According to the BBC, terms of the settlement have not been publicly disclosed, but the plaintiff’s lawyers said in a filing on Friday, “The parties are still in the process of formalizing, executing, and consummating.”
In their suit, Fox and Strange noted a number of similarities between The Weeknd’s track and their own.
“Both works are in a 6/8 meter that is less common in popular music,” they claimed. “Both works are played at a similar tempo.

Joe Biden’s first White House press secretary Jen Psaki began her new MSNBC program on Sunday by telling the audience, “It’s a hell of a week of launch a new show.”
She was talking about the big news of the weekend: Donald Trump’s potential arrest and his call on his supporters to protest, and that she led with it was to be expected, given MSNBC’s long focus on the alarm of the former president.
Still, with Inside with Jen Psaki, her challenge will be to make a mark and standout moments in a very crowded group of Sunday Beltway programs.

One party, represented best by Ansel Adams’s Group f/64, advocated a “pure” photography in which sharp focus and an eye for “realism” aided the photographer’s holy scientific task of capturing the immense object of reality. The other less-centralized party, sometimes called Pictorialists, chose to depict reality by representation and exaggeration. For William Mortensen, who lauded and exemplified the Pictorialist vision when it was most unfashionable, the camera was simply another artistic tool to be revered and used alongside graphite or clay. One of the experts interviewed in Satan Wants You, a disturbingly compelling documentary making its world premiere at SXSW, points out that, today, the 1980s cultural phenomenon known as the “Satanic Panic” is seen as a joke. Bands of Satanists kidnapping children and eating babies? Ok, such talk is not ha-ha funny. But with the passage of time we can certainly call such accusations absurd. In the moment there was nothing funny about it, and results for many falsely accused individuals were devastating.
In Satan Wants You, directors Sean Horlor and Steve J. Adams lay the blame on two fascinating individuals: Michelle Smith and Dr. Lawrence Pazder. In 1980, the native of Victoria, British Columbia, and her psychiatrist (Pazder) released the book Michelle Remembers, whose cover teased readers with the following description: “The true story of a year-long contest between innocence and evil.” Smith’s account of childhood Satanic ritual abuse...

“Dilbert” is being dumped from dozens of newspapers throughout North America after the comic strip’s creator, Scott Adams, went on a racist rant during a recent podcast when the Trump-supporting cartoonist cited a poll in which 53 per cent of Black Americans agreed with the statement “It’s Ok to be white,” which led Adams to define Black people as “a hate group.”
He continued by declaring, “I don’t want to have anything to do with them. And I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people, just get the f**k away … because there is no fixing this.”
After numerous newspapers announced they were getting rid of “Dilbert”, Adams double down by complaining about being “cancelled… because I gave some advice everyone agreed with.”

The centerpiece of “Saturday Night Live’s” March 4 “Weekend Update” segment was a skewering of “Dilbert” comic creator Scott Adams, who went on a racist rant last month that spurred dozens of newspapers to drop his long-running syndicated cartoon strip.
Michael Che, co-anchor of “Update” with Colin Jost, interviewed the cubicle-dweller himself, the cartoon character Dilbert, in an effort to understand how Adams could have gone so off the rails in suggesting that white people are under threat from Black people.
Over the course of a controversial YouTube video posted Feb. 22, Adams described how he purposely moved to a community with no Black residents and urged white viewers to “get the hell away from Black people.” He also called the Black community a “hate group.”

Welcome to Grey’s Anatomy without Ellen Pompeo making rounds as Meredith Grey. Pompeo is down to guest-star status for now, after her character moved across the country last week. But at least we got Mer narrating the start of the ABC medical drama’s March 2 episode: Season 19, Episode 8, “All Star.” [Warning: The below contains major spoilers for the Grey’s Anatomy Season 19, Episode 8, “All Star.”] As the episode starts, Griffith (Alexis Floyd), Adams (Niko Terho), Yasuda (Midori Francis) are repainting Mer’s old house… and bickering over which of them gets Mer’s old bedroom! The interns have more pressing matters at hand, though, including the patients of the week. And speaking of “pressing,” one of those patients is a young man who took on one Seattle restaurant’s “Pho-nomenal Challenge” — eating 3 pounds of noodles, 3 pounds of meat, and 3 pounds of broth — and now can’t poop. Luckily for him, Yasuda helps him get things, ahem, moving again.

As a result, the “Dilbert” comic has been pulled from papers across the country, and Adams has been dropped by his publisher. The syndicator of Dilbert said that they are dropping the comic strip following racist remarks made by its creator, Scott Adams.
The publisher of Adams’ non-Dilbert books also has terminated an upcoming project, according to The Wall Street Journal. Adams wrote on Twitter that the publisher also canceled his backlist.
“Still no disagreement about my point of view. My book agent canceled me too,” Adams wrote.

Twitter has fired at least 200 more employees, or 10% of its already dramatically scaled-down workforce, according to press reports, as owner-ceo Elon Musk continues to slash costs to make his $44 billion acquisition viable.
The purchase of Twitter last year remains one of oddest business stories in recent times, and the fallout is too. His sudden, high-priced bid was a surprise, then he almost immediately reneged on the deal and was sued. He capitulated when his chances of a court victory seemed dim. Since then, he’s alienated and subsequently tried to woo back worried advertisers and tried several launches of troubled Twitter Blue in the hope of generating additional revenue and fired thousands of employees from a staff that stood at 7,500 before he bought it. Musk had threatened to eliminate two-thirds of all Twitter jobs, now he’s gone beyond that.
The cuts are said to traverse advertising, app support, product managers,...

Thirty years later, Penny Marshall’s groundbreaking A League of Their Own is still making an impact. And while there’s no crying in baseball, there was certainly laughing, dancing and several cheers on Saturday evening at Cinespia’s showing of the baseball classic at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
