George R.R. Martin has a pretty hot brand right now. Game of Thrones has been absolutely killing it on HBO ever since its premiere back in 2011, and while one could chalk that up to the copious amounts of sex and violence, there’s no doubt that the series has its foundation in amazing characters and storytelling. Given the success of this series, as well as Martin’s experience in television as a writer and series executive producer, it was only a matter of time before some of his other properties got the small screen treatment.
TheWrap is reporting that Syfy is developing a supernatural thriller based on Martin’s novel Nightflyers (Which was adapted into a film back in 1987). In case you have no idea what the book is (which I’ll assume is most of you), the outlet describes it as follows:

Syfy is giving itself an extreme makeover. And as part of the network’s reboot, it has ordered to series the long-awaited Superman prequel “Krypton” to series, as well as an adaptation of the quirky graphic novel “Happy!”
The network is also developing an adaptation of the George R.R. Martin novella “Nightflyers,” and, as previously announced, has partnered with Blumhouse Television to develop a new TV chapter of the feature franchise “The Purge” (which will also air on USA Network).
To emphasize the changes, the network unveiled a new logo and look across its platforms. The name hasn’t changed (although that was discussed — including a return to the original Sci-Fi moniker), but now it’s in all-caps: Syfy.

The new Jacob's Ladder will be a "modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers"
As you may know, a Jacob's Ladder remake is in the works. Ld Entertainment says that Jacob’s Ladder will be an homage to the classic 1990 supernatural thriller rather than a remake, meaning it will take place in the present and deal with contemporary issues.
Jacob’s Ladder will be directed by David M Rosenthal. The screenplay was written by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train) and Sarah Thorp.
It's now being reported that Karla Souza, a regular on the Us TV show How to Get Away With Murder, will play Annie/Angel, a trauma nurse who works with Jacob’s medical crew in Afghanistan. Souza’s latest movie ¿Qué Culpa Tiene el Niño? opened at number one in her native Mexico in May.

Karla Souza ("How to Get Away With Murder") has scored a role in David M. Rosenthal's re-imagining of Adrian Lynne's famously trippy 1990 thriller "Jacob's Ladder" for Ld Entertainment.

With director James Foley, Ld Entertainment and the producers of the 2011 Fright Night remake set to oversee the re-imagining of director Adrian Lyne’s 1990 psychological horror film Jacob’s Ladder, we caught up exclusively with the project’s screenwriter Jeff Buhler (above) in order to get the low-down on the project. Read on!

I'm not sure how well a remake of Jacob's Ladder would work, given the fact that so much of the experience is reliant on the twist at the end, but that's not stopping Hollywood from having a go at it. They're calling it an homage, rather than a remake, and a director has just been tapped to helm the project.
Read on for the skinny!
As per The Wrap, James Foley has signed on to direct the so-called homage. Foley was the director of 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross and he has recently directed episodes of Netflix's "House of Cards" and NBC's "Hannibal."
Mickey Liddell and Ld Entertainment’s Jennifer Monroe are producing the project with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig. Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is penning a script building upon an earlier draft by Jake Wade Wall, the scribe behind the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls.

"Glengarry Glen Ross" and "House of Cards" director James Foley is in negotiations to helm the new untitled take on Adrian Lyne's 1990 cult classic "Jacob’s Ladder" at Ld Entertainment.
Tim Robbins starred in the original as a Vietnam veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who begins experiencing increasingly bizarre hallucinations that bleed into his everyday life. While many have debated the final twist of the film, the movie is mostly remembered for its truly bizarre and intensely surreal moments.
"Midnight Meat Train" writer Jeff Buhler is penning the script for the new version which has been described as a homage rather than an outright remake. The plan is to "contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions."

It looks like yet another horror flick remake will be hitting the big screen sometime soon, as Ld Entertainment has announced a brand new version of the 1990 cult hit Jacob’s Ladder, produced by Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig.
The original Jacob’s Ladder starred Tim Robbins in the leading role as Vietnam War veteran Jacob Singer, who suffers bizarre flashbacks and nightmarish hallucinations as a result of things he experienced both before and after the war. We watch as Jacob attempts to learn the truth behind the visions, slowly slipping further and further into darkness.
The movie was written by Bruce Joel Rubin who perceived the film as a modern interpretation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Liberation Through Hearing During the Intermediate State. Although the film was only moderately successful at the box office, Jacob’s Ladder has grown into a cult classic and has inspired many works of horror,...

"We thought, 'Great, but she's already done the vampire thing with Buffy, so she probably wouldn't be interested.' Happily she ended up being very interested. We've seen one image from the Craig Gillespie-directed 3D remake of the '80s horror classic Fright Night, but the three images below are the first real look we've had at the upcoming film. The movie tells the story of a suburban kid (Anton Yelchin) who, amid dealing with a new girlfriend (Imogen Poots) and estrangement from his old best friend (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) discovers that his neighborhood is now home to a vampire (Colin Farrell). Surprised and shocked best describe this late news out of "THR's HeatVision" camp tonight. DreamWorks' remake of the cult classic 1985 film "Fright Night" just got it's lead vampire and it's Hollywood quote "bad boy" Colin Farrell but the news doesn't stop there...
Not only will Farrell be taking on the role of cool guy vampire, Jerry Dandrige but Dreamworks is also adding Emmey award winning actress Toni Collette to play the role of Judy Brewster. For anyone that thought this project was a throw away picture by "Dreamwork's" this news proves the studio is at the very least attempting to take this project very seriously by garnering to veteran actors.
According to "THR", "Farrell has the plum role of the vampire, named Jerry, who on the surface appears to be a cool guy but is really preying on the neighborhood. Chris Sarandon played the role in the 1985 pic.
