(Spoiler alert: Please don’t read on if you haven’t watched Monday’s season finale of “American Idol”)
Sorry, ABC’s inaugural “American Idol” winner Maddie Poppe — you’ve already been outshined. On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel brought together a bunch of forgotten “Idol” alums like William Hung, Sanjaya Malakar, Chewbacca Girl, and the “Pants on the Ground” guy, “General” Larry Platt, for an all-star parody performance of “We Are the World.”
With all due respect to Sanjaya, there were also some actual good singers in the mix — even winners Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard showed up for the gag.

Antonella Barba, Kevin Covais, Haley Reinhart, Scott MacIntyre, and Reynaldo Lapuz also participated in the pre-taped sketch. Be honest, reader: How many of them do you actually remember?

Jimmy Kimmel reunited a number of familiar faces from American Idol on Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The ABC host welcomed past stars such as Sanjaya Malakar, Scott MacIntyre, Kevin Covais, Antonella Barba and tone-deaf fan favorite William Hung for a special "Where are They Now" musical segment.
The former Idol-ers came together in studio to record a song akin to 1985's megastar mashup "We Are the World," that had each singer explaining what they've been up to since their season of the popular singing show. Such doings included being a notary public "right here in ...

Ad agency Havas Worldwide Sydney has launched an outdoor and print campaign for Greenpeace to raise awareness about the impact tuna fishing has on marine wildlife.
The ads feature a tuna sandwich with a turtle in the middle, and are designed to get consumers to think about the brand of tuna they are buying.
Greenpeace was engaged in a campaign against John West, a brand the environmental group says uses unsustainable fishing methods, until yesterday. Greenpeace now reports winning its campaign, with John West agreeing to change the way it sources tuna.
Steve Coll, the agency’s Ecd said: “We’re keen supporters of the work of Greenpeace and are very pleased to lend our creative resources to an important campaign like this.”

It's all come down to this: the finale of the 11th season of "American Idol", with 21-year-old guitar-strumming southern gentleman Phillip Phillips pitted against 16-year-old vocal powerhouse Jessica Sanchez. There are endless sports-related clichés we could use ("the end of the line," "the bottom of the ninth inning," " the home stretch"), but the point is, the end is really near.
When MTV News caught up with Sanchez moments before she headed into the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles for the start of the finale, we only had enough time to ask about how she was feeling at the end of such a whirlwind of a season.

Unless ya'll have been under a rock for the past few days, you know that 17 year old Scotty McCreery was named Season 10's American Idol (TV). As Fox aired it's star-studded finale live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, he and Lauren Alaina stood arm in arm looking like the perfect prom couple as they awaited the final announcement. Alas, Scotty was the last one standing and officially became the next big thing. After a generous kiss from his runner up, the confetti started flying and Scotty made his way through the song " I Love You This Big," hugging his family, the judges and eventually, his fellow contestants. As the song concluded, Scotty sank to the floor and cried. He wasn't alone. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, by the way. His mild demeanor and soft country charm made him a fan favorite from the get-go.

Three months ago, if you had told me that "American Idol X: F--- F---" was going to have a theme week about recent music, I would have said, "Yeah, and Katherine Heigl will make a good movie one day." But holy crap. That's exactly what "Idol" did Wednesday night. Sorry, Stevie Wonder. Your revenue stream off "Idol" royalties is going on a one-week hiatus. You'll live.
The show kicked off with a montage of auditions. Oh, the good old days, back when we thought Steven Tyler was a passionate judge and Casey Abrams was a goofy guy who'd never step to Jimmy Iovine. Our egomaniacs used to be so adorable when they were young.

"American Idol" announced Tuesday that it's reverting back to a Top 24, with 12 men competing against each other and 12 women competing against each other. Is this a good thing?
We say yes. A resounding yes, for several reasons: gender balance, higher quality and more exposure before Top 12 starts.
Gender Balance
We love guys, nothing against 'em. But last year's "American Idol" Top 12 was 8 men and 4 women. We attribute this to the fact that the majority of people who vote (vote, not watch) on "American Idol" are female and they may be swayed by a cute guy who isn't actually one of the best vocalists. Then what happens is a female (usually a quirky girl, a la Jesse Langseth or Mishavonna Henson) gets left out who maybe could have made the Top 12 in lieu of a Scott McIntyre or Jorge Nunez, who maybe should not have.

For fans trying to keep up with Adam, Kris and the other American Idol finalists on tour, the social networking service Twitter is making it surprisingly easy. This year, many of the singers have been checking in with fans via tweets. Turns out that 9 out of 10 have Twitter accounts, and several of them are very active on the social networking service.
But the one Idolist you can't currently find on Twitter? That would be Adam Lambert. He had an account but it was hacked and now someone has been masquerading as him on the service. And doing a passable job of it too. Even hacked and sparsely updated (only 31 posts), Adam's compromised account dwarfs the rest of the Idol finalists' accounts in terms of followers.
After the break, we've got Twitter stats for each of the AI finalists, as well as some gay-supportive tweeting by possibly the least likely of Idolists!

Tempe, Az, enjoyed a special treat last night after winning an online contest - the hunky guys of X-Men Origins: Wolverine were in town for the Us premiere of their film. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman struck a few poses for the cameras, as did Taylor Kitsch, will.i.am, and Lynn Collins. Liev Schreiber, meanwhile, made a statement about their movie being leaked online. The cast was due to make their next stop in Mexico City, but that screening was canceled due to the swine flu threat. Hugh's been traveling the world for weeks already, but he's sure to be a little disappointed not to celebrate south of the border. View 20 Photos › To see more from the event just read more. According to Simon Cowell, the judges were split two-two on the decision to use their save on Wednesday night's "American Idol" show, when Scott MacIntyre received the news he had reached the end of his "Idol" journey with the lowest number from the 34 million votes cast. On Tuesday’s performance show, finalists performed songs from the year they were born, and Scott, 23, from Scottsdale, Az, sang “The Search Is Over” by Survivor. "I was thrilled to know it was a split decision between the four judges," he said the morning after. "That was something very nice for me to walk away with. Even talking to Simon after the show, he told me, and I also sensed that there was some inner turmoil in him making that decision." Scott's plans for the immediate future include a return home to focus on his music career. He is going to be reviewing his...

Scott MacIntyre was out. Lost was, well, Lost. Criminal Minds was back. DVRs were presumably working overtime. Last night's tough three-way race at 9 p.m. didn't do favors for any of the participants in the early Nielsen numbers. The MacIntyre-ousting Idol (estimated 22.4 million viewers) was down about 2 million from last week. Lost (8.3 million) was down 15 percent among adults 18-49. Criminal Minds (13.3 million) was off a bit from its season average. Other Wednesday ratings stats: • For as much as the 9 p.m. shows bloodied each other, they reigned overall. One more Idol falls out, as the top nine for the eight season of "American Idol" is announced. Michael Sarver, the oil rig roughneck that went through the Top 36 together with also-eliminated Alexis Grace, has to swallow the bitter pill of not getting enough votes to make him stay. He, however, has been included in the Top 10 and will tour with the rest after the show wraps up later this year.
Sarver was in the bottom three along with two other guys, Matt Giraud and Scott McIntyre. While 36 million votes were cast on the Motown night when he belted out "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", he received the lowest of the three. Simon Cowell, additionally refused to use his judge power to save the father of two in the competition. "Michael, you're going home. Sorry," Cowell said.
In the performance night, indeed, Michael received harsh criticism from the four judges.

The Idols took on Motown last night, which meant a trip to Detroit for the top ten before working with Smokey Robinson on their songs for the week. Matt Giraud kicked off the night perfectly - he was as Justin Timberlake-esque as ever going all out with his awesome rendition of "Let's Get It On" - and it was no surprise that the judges loved it. He was followed up by Kris Allen who made a great choice with "How Sweet It Is" to go with his cute smile and demeanor. Between mostly forgettable Scott MacIntyre and Megan Joy, the judges got a little silly when Paula gave Simon a coloring book and "crowns" (as Simon pronounced crayons). The Idol fever has roamed once again with the eight season premiere of "American Idol" on Tuesday, January 13. Changing in its format and judges panel, the show delivers still the best and the worst in the audition rounds. First stop, Phoenix, Arizona, where the hot weather sends a girl auditioning in a bikini.
Katrina Darrell thought that she will make a difference to the show, appearing only in two-piece. Her vocal was not a favorite to the new judge, Kara DioGuardi, but her charm apparently put her through, thanks to two thumbs up from Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell. Unhappy DioGuardi said, "Next time come naked" upon her exit from the room. Darrell, who promised to "make out" with host Ryan Seacrest if she got through, then ran to find him and made it true, much to Ryan's shock.

"American Idol"'s eighth season kicked off to a blazing start in sweltering hot Phoenix, where a colorful cast of characters showed off their talent (or lack thereof), and new judge Kara DioGuardi showed she's not to be taken lightly! A tattooed rocker (Emily Hughes, 21); a visually impaired inspiration (Scott MacIntyre, 23); a man Kara described as a “sensitive roughneck” (Michael Sarver, 27); and a bikini-clad siren (Katrina Darrell, 20) -- who planted a kiss on host Ryan Seacrest -- were among the contestants to score a golden ticket to the first round of competition in Hollywood. Not as successful were a Michael Jackson imitator, a man who went by the nickname "sexual chocolate," and a sensitive rocker who cried throughout the day and who Simon Cowell dubbed a "drama queen."
