Gaumont UK Options Tm Logan’s ‘The Mother’
Gaumont UK has picked up rights to Tm Logan’s The Mother and will develop the thriller as a returning drama series. Released earlier this year, The Mother starts from the shadows, as a woman attends her own funeral after serving 10 years in jail for the murder of her husband. With two grieving sons in mourning, it’s evident she will stop at nothing to clear her name and reconnect with her children. Gaumont UK President Alison Jackson said she was “instantly fascinated” by the story, calling it a “tantalising addictive read with a brilliantly complex female protagonist.” Gaumont also has rights to Sixteen Horses, Dog Rose Dirt, and Dressed For War: The Story of Audrey Withers. It was most recently behind Netflix thriller Obsession starring Richard Armitage with Moonage Pictures along with Channel 5 thriller For Her Sins. The UK hub opened five years ago.

In an alleged leak, test footage from Lucasfilm’s pre-Disney Star Wars television project, Star Wars: Underworld, has surfaced.
Star Wars: Underworld is a title that evokes what could have been for the Force franchise, planned by George Lucas as the first live-action television series during the few years before Disney’s acquisition – an event that led to the project being tossed into the scrap heap. Now, in a franchise landscape that’s since experienced a Sequel Trilogy, with fans now clamoring for Baby Yoda dolls after The Mandalorian, it appears that footage has surfaced from the Star Wars series that got away!
In what is alleged as a leak, a test scene and complementary behind-the-scenes footage from Star Wars: Underworld has surfaced. While the veracity of the clip’s touted status has yet to be confirmed, the footage is nevertheless impressive. The planned series, which was...

A live-action Star Wars TV series is on the way! Let’s look back at Underworld, the last attempt to get one made...
Last Friday was an exiting day for Star Wars fans, with UK followers of that galaxy far, far away waking up to some massive news. While we were sleeping, Disney chief Bob Iger announced a new trilogy of Star Wars films and a live-action Star Wars TV series.
See related The Greatest Showman: first pics from Hugh Jackman musical The Greatest Showman On Earth: Zendaya joins Hugh Jackman in cast
Iger’s announcement included some details about the new movie trilogy (The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson is helming it, with the story being totally separate to the Skywalker-centric ‘episode’ films), but the TV project was left utterly mysterious. All the fans were told is that the live-action TV series will be released...

Exclusive: before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm, he hired Chris Chibnall & Terry Cafolla to work on his live-action Star Wars TV show
Around 2007, bolstered by the experience of running writers' rooms for animated series The Clone Wars, George Lucas assembled a team of writers to work up scripts for a live-action TV series. This is known.
It's also known that over a period of two years, said writers produced around fifty scripts for the potential show and that one of the UK members of that writing team was Ronald D Moore. And from the UK, Life On Mars' Matthew Graham. And in a new interview with this very site, Graham has revealed two more people who were involved. Including incoming Doctor Who showrunner, Mr Chris Chibnall.
Graham confirmed Chibnall's involvement, along with that of Terry Cafolla, in our interview going behind-the-scenes on the show's development and its...

Writer Matthew Graham takes us behind the scenes of George Lucas' since-abandoned Star Wars live-action TV show...
Matthew Graham was the co-creator and co-executive producer of hit shows Life On Mars and Ashes To Ashes, and he’s just brought Childhood’s End to the screen in the Us. But off the back of the success of Life On Mars, he was picked by George Lucas to be one of the chosen few to work on the seemingly-abandoned live action Star Wars television show. And whilst he couldn’t share story details from the show – it’s all owned by Disney now – he was able to take us behind the scenes.
Here, then, is the first of two interviews we've done with Matthew. The second, coming to the site shortly, will look at his recent Syfy TV show, Childhood's End, as well as what he's up to now.

Martin Sheen will star in The Whale, a two-hour film from BBC Factual Productions and Animal Planet that’s set to premiere in December on BBC 1 and in summer 2014 on Animal Planet. Based on true events, Sheen portrays Old Thomas Nickerson, who served as cabin boy on the ill-fated voyage of the whaling ship the Essex. The two-hour drama is inspired by real-life accounts of the ship’s sinking; those accounts are said to have inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. The Whale is written by Terry Cafolla (Holy Cross, Messiah). Filming took place on location in Malta this past spring and wrapped up outside of London last summer. Sheen, repped by ICM Partners, leads the cast as the elder Nickerson with Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood, The Street) as First Mate Owen Chase; Adam Rayner (The Hunted) as Captain Pollard; Paul Kaye (Game Of Thrones, Stella) as Joy; David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas,...

Two versions of shipwreck and cannibalism story behind Melville's classic are being made
The story that charts the obsessive, ill-fated hunt for a great white whale has resounded down the generations since the publication in 1851 of Herman Melville's novel, Moby-Dick: or, The Whale. Now the lure of the enormous whale has proved too strong both for film director Ron Howard and for the BBC, who have set off on rival voyages to bring the true story behind Melville's dark saga to audiences.
With Chris Hemsworth, Ben Whishaw and Cillian Murphy lined up in Howard's cast, the director of the new Formula One film Rush returns to England this week to make his next film, In the Heart of the Sea, at the Warner Bros studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire. Howard has recruited British screenwriter Peter Morgan, who also scripted Rush, to redraft his seafaring screenplay.

Jonas Armstrong is to star in a new BBC One drama about the events that inspired Moby Dick.
The Whale - written by Terry Cafolla (Messiah) - is a one-off 90-minute film following the ill-fated voyage of The Essex.
Thomas Nickerson - who, at 14, was one of only eight survivors of the shipwreck - wrote a detailed account of his experiences, which later inspired Herman Melville to write his classic novel Moby Dick.
Robin Hood star Armstrong will play First Mate Owen Chase in The Wale - a dramatisation of Nickerson's narrative - appearing alongside Adam Rayner (Hunted), Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas) and Joe Armstrong (The Village).
Terry Cafolla said: "At the emotional heart of the drama is orphan Nickerson's (newcomer Charles Furness) coming-of-age story where he meets three powerful male role models in the captain, the first mate, and a steward.

Newcomer Charles Furness is set to star in The Whale, a 90-minute BBC drama based on factual accounts of the sinking of the whale ship Essex in 1820, written by Terry Cafolla.
Charles (represented by A&J Management) trained with the Nyt Rep company before landing this, his first screen role. He stars as Tom Nickerson, the fourteen-year-old cabin boy on the whale ship Essex, who wrote an account of the boat's sinking and the three months that the crew survived .
During her lifetime the Essex gained the reputation of being a "lucky" ship but she is best known for being attacked and sunk by a sperm whale in the southern Pacific Ocean in 1820. This tragic incident served as inspiration for Herman Melville's 1851 novel, Moby-Dick.
The young cast also includes 22 year old Jassa Aluwalia (represented by Independent Talent) as Owen Coffin, one of the sailors and a cousin of the ship's captain George Pollard,...

Lily Loveless has spoken to Digital Spy about her role in new BBC Three drama The Crash.
The two-parter - written by Law & Order: UK's Terry Cafolla - explores the impact of a horrific car crash on a group of young friends and their families.
"It's an important piece of drama," Loveless - who plays the character of Ash - told DS. "It really makes you think, it's got a good story behind it and they did it for a good reason - I think it really matters."
The 22-year-old actress revealed that she often finds herself drawn to dark, dramatic scripts like The Crash.
"I always like scripts that are a bit dark," said Loveless. "For some reason, I find them a lot more interesting.
"Even when I was little, my favourite film was Snow White because it was quite creepy. I don't really know why - I'm not a creepy person!

The saddest lesbian thing to happen on British TV in recent years is Skins generation two saying goodbye and Sacha Parkinson leaving Coronation Street.
