ABC Family has decided to cancel their long-running TV series, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, after five seasons on the air. While there won't be a sixth season, there's still more to come.
Created by Brenda Hampton, Secret Life revolves around the relationships between families and friends and how they deal with unexpected pregnancies. Castmembers include Shailene Woodley, Kenny Baumann, Francia Raisa, Daren Kagasoff, Greg Finley, Megan Park, India Eisley, Molly Ringwald, Mark Derwin, Michael Grant, and Cierra Ramirez.
Debuting in 2008, Secret Life became ABC Family's first hit scripted series and paved the way for future successes like Pretty Little Liars.
The ratings have come down over the years. To date, the fifth season has averaged a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demgraphic with 1.38 million viewers. Still, it remains one of ABC Family's highest-rated series.

On Monday's (June 4) "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," Amy (Shailene Woodley) tells Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) that she wants to elope. But will they actually make it to the alter in the June 11 episode?
"You will definitely get an answer," Kagasoff tells Zap2it. "It's either an 'I do' or an 'I don't' ... it's going to be a big shock, and it's definitely going to keep fans on their toes."
Whether Amy and Ricky get married or not, change is afoot for the "Secret Life" clan with Amy's mom Anne (Molly Ringwald) having just come out of the closet, Ricky and Adrian (Francia Raisa) going to college, and Ben (Ken Baumann) possibly being responsible for burning down his girlfriend's school and definitely being responsible for cheating on her with his friend Alice.
"You get to see Amy and my character develop," Kagasoff says. "And [Ricky's mom] Nora -- the last couple of seasons,...

Plus, in a 'Secret Life' first, the entire episode went by without anyone saying the word 'sex!' Like, not even once! "Does everybody think I'm stupid?" That rhetorical question -- posed by Amy (Shailene Woodley) on the March 26 spring premiere of The Secret Life Of The American Teenager -- really could have been asked by anyone on the show. Because, on some level, they were all a little bit stupid. At least this week. Grace (Megan Park) was stupid for thinking she could successfully carry on a relationship with Daniel, while still harboring feelings for Jack (Greg Finley). Wait, not just harboring feelings -- acting on those feelings. Daniel wasted no time dumping Grace, prompting her to enroll in summer school with Adrian (Francia Raisa) for some reason. I'm not going to lie, I didn't follow the logic with that one. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang faced the consequences of their partner-swapping actions,...

ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" returns Monday (March 26) with Amy (Shailene Woodley) and Ricky (Daren Kagasoff) enjoying their engagement -- or at least Amy enjoying her ring.

Are you excited for the spring premiere of "Secret Life"? Do you think Amy and Ricky will make it to the altar?...

Now That is what I call drama. This week's appropriately titled episode "Hole in the Wall" was definitely one for the books.
Amy and Ricky's bedroom bickering was child's play compared to the performances by Ben and Adrian here. We've seen them both in states of sadness and mourning and this week brought out the anger.
Ben's discontent had been brewing for weeks. It was only a matter of time before something made him snap. However, I never really thought we'd see it to the extent that we did. I really have to applaud Ken Baumann in all of the emotional scenes this season.
Ben had been walking around making it seem like the only reason he wanted out of the marriage was because he didn't want to be tied to Adrian anymore. We thought he wasn't into being married at 17 without a child in the picture. Never did I...

Over the past two weeks, Secret Life set up a tragic situation that is bound to send viewers into a tailspin.
In "... Or Not To Be" - the follow up of "To Be" - we experienced one of the most heartbreaking situations I have ever seen in my 25 years of watching television. And let me tell you, I've watched a lot.
This episode has been spoken about at length by the actors and the media. Going into it, I was prepared for tragedy to strike, but I'm unsure how I feel about the installment overall. Yes, I understand why it was done, and. yes, it was a bold move by the writers, but I don't really think it was appropriate or necessary.
Everything that occurred last week was a set up for this major plot point. From Ben and Adrian jovially calling each other "Mr. and Mrs." to Ricky and Amy planning a romantic getaway,...

This week, We Love Soaps TV had the chance to speak with Francia Raisa and Ken Baunmann of The Secret Life Of The American Teenager about a very big (and secret) plot reveal coming up in the June 6 episode (8/7c on ABC Family). If you don't want to know what happens ahead of time, you should stop reading after the second question!
Francia (Adrian) was born and raised in southern California. After shooting Bring It On: All or Nothing opposite Hayden Panettiere of NBC's Heroes, Francia starred in the Nickelodeon film Shredderman Rules. In 2008, she shot a lead role in Spanish horror film Asd: A Soul Disowned (formerly called Underground) and was the female lead in ABC Family's original movie The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream. You may also have seen her on the big screen as Marly in Fired Up! or on TV as a guest on In Plain Sight.
