Streaming channels specialist TV4 Entertainment has launched Concrete Club as an independent original content studio, Variety has learned exclusively.
The genre-based studio will develop, produce and distribute feature films and television series targeting underserved, global audiences for all screens. The new studio is touted as an extension of TV4 Entertainment’s portfolio of genre-based lifestyle, entertainment, and sports over-the-top streaming channels.
Concrete Club said Thursday it will create originals in the genres of existing and planned global streaming brands and use TV4 Entertainment’s channels as a development pipeline and guaranteed distribution for Concrete Club productions.
Concrete Club’s first theatrical release will be “Together,” opening June 15 at every Odeon Cinema across England, Scotland and Wales — making it one of the largest independent, self-distributed opening releases in U.K. history. Produced by TV4 Entertainment, the comedic drama was written and directed by Concrete Club’s studio head, Paul Duddridge.

Title: Carjacked Directed by: John Bonito Starring: Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff Running time: 89 minutes, Rated R, Available on standard DVD A single mother and her 8 year old son are kidnapped by an escaped bank robber who is trying to find a ride to his partner. The mousy ex wife of an abusive man must do what she can to protect her son and survive the night, riding in her beat up car with a dangerous sociopath. To summarize, this movie was boring and lame. Maria Bello’s character was so frustratingly idiotic, I wanted to punch her in the head for being stupid. Her character wants to protect...

*full disclosure: a quote written by this reviewer is featured on the rear box cover of this film (seen left and top, first panel.
Director: John Bonito.
Writers: Michael Compton and Sherry Compton.
Cast: Maria Bello, Stephen Dorff and Joanna Cassidy.
Carjacked is an interesting film to this reviewer mainly because this is the first release to feature a quote from 28Dla on the cover. The quote taken by Anchor Bay Films is a sum up of some of the early promotional material. However, the film itself is very mediocre despite some great acting from Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff. Slow pacing in the early frames and a ridiculous character transformation in the finale sank this film's chances of becoming anything special or believable.
Golden Globe nominee Maria Bello plays Lorraine, a meek single mother of one boy. She attends a woman's support group at night while scrounging for gas money on her own.

The final tally of producers on Carjacked, from co-producers on up to executive producers, is eighteen; eighteen individuals who must have seen potential in a first feature script from two unknown writers. Or perhaps it was landing the director , John Bonito, that inspired confidence, whose only other project was the WWE film The Marine, starring John Cena. Whatever it was that brought so many people to the table on this project, it was all an illusion. Carjacked is a truly bad film, and it’s hard to see how even on the page before production began, it was anything but.

The official site for John Bonito’s “Carjacked” has released the first trailer for the film, which features Maria Bello meeting Stephen Dorff, Maria Bello being terrorized by Stephen Dorff, before Maria Bello decides to fight back against Stephen Dorff. This involves Bello finding her inner warrior and getting her hands on a pump-action shotgun. Hey, you mess with the bull, you get the horn, kid. Or, er, shotgun rounds to the face. Same difference. The trailer is a tad Nsfw (rough language), so be warned. Lorraine, a vulnerable single mom and her 5-year-old son are carjacked by Roy, a vicious bank robber who forces her to drive cross country to meet up with his accomplice who still has the money from the robbery. Her fight for survival marks the beginning of her journey toward independence. Starring Maria Bello, Stephen Dorff, Joanna Cassidy, and Catherine Dent. John Bonito, who last...

Previously titled Carjacked, Jacked has a menacing new film poster, which shows Stephen Dorff as Roy, menacing actress Maria Bello (Lorraine) and her young son (Connor Hill).
Actor Stephen Dorff has shown a resurgence in his career with dramatic central roles in Felon (2008) and Sofia Coppola's Somewhere (2010). Jacked looks like a continuation of this streak. In the picture, Dorff plays Roy a man on the run from a recent robbery and he uses his ex-wife and son to get over the Mexican border. But, the tagline reminds viewers that "vengeance is hers!" Enjoy an update on one of the more exciting thrillers to come out in 2011. An updated synopsis and release date are below.
The synopsis for Jacked is here:
"Lorraine is a working single mom with an abusive ex-husband who, even after separation, continuously creates problems for her and her 8-year-old son, Chad. On a seemingly normal evening,...

Toronto -- In a move that injects a new contender into this year's Oscar race, Lionsgate has picked up North American rights to John Cameron Mitchell's "Rabbit Hole," which had its world premiere Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As the festival winds to its Sunday close, other distributors were lining up films that could play next year's festival circuit: IFC Films said it has acquired worldwide rights, except Canada, to Barry Avrich's documentary "Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project," and Sony Pictures Classics said it picked up North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's latest movie, gothic thriller "The Skin I Inhabit," now filming.
Additionally, Anchor Bay Films has secured rights to "Carjacked," a thriller being directed by John Bonito ("The Marine").
Lionsgate will release "Rabbit" by year's end, and based on positive reactions here, that should make the movie a player during awards season.
