Nothing much has changed in Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating preferences since breaking out in the ’90s. While lauded as one of the best actors of our time, for years, the Oscar winner has been a part of a running joke of being incapable of dating anyone above the age of 25. Although it’s entirely possible that this might be a coincidence, it’s hard to ignore the pattern.
But fans aren’t alone when it comes to making memes and jokes about the actor’s alleged dating pattern, as acclaimed singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter too joins the meme train.

Showrunner Greg Daniels’ sequel to hit sitcom The Office has been commissioned for a series at Peacock. Domhnall Gleeson will lead the ensemble cast.
There have been repeated talks of a revival of the American version of The Office revival in the years since it concluded. Given the success of the show, it seemed to be a question not of if, but when. We now have the answer.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American remake and served as showrunner for the majority of its nine seasons, has co-created a sequel series with Michael Konan.
Described as being “set in the same universe” as The Office, the description, via Deadline, reads as follows:
The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.

A new mockumentary series set in the world of “The Office” is not only being developed — but was just picked up by Peacock. “The Office” creator Greg Daniels and “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman’s untitled project has been ordered to series, produced by Utv.
The untitled Daniels/Koman project will star Irish film star Domhnall Gleeson and “The White Lotus” Season 2 breakout Sabrina Impacciatore, as well as an ensemble cast that has yet to be announced. The beloved sitcom Seinfeld was famously never canceled, because co-creator Jerry Seinfeld and his fellow cast members decided they should walk away after nine seasons, leaving viewers wanting more. But for about a decade, Seinfeld has continuously complained that “political correctness” is stifling comedy of the kind that made him a household name and fabulously wealthy.
As long ago as 2015 — right around when our contemporary ideas of “cancel culture” were beginning to take shape on social media — Seinfeld was talking about not playing college campuses for fear of students labeling his material racist or sexist.

Cancel culture has existed since the end of the olde worlde and the beginning of the new. Persecution and witch hunts have evolved into a more technologically savvy practice of removing whatever subverts the mob mentality. Now, it seems like The Office has become the latest victim to fall into the clutches of cancel culture.
The Office [Courtesy: BBC]Ricky Gervais’ show was always a series packed with risks, the bold statement of work existing even to this day speaks to its nature. However, the threat of criticism always looms and it’s only a matter of time until the sentiment of the masses gets strong enough to justify its cancelation and remove it completely from pop culture.
Ricky Gervais Sets the Record Straight for The Office
The notorious David Brent, who is known for his crass sexist and racist jabs, has mostly targeted his well-meaning, generously of sound mind, and moderately educated employees.

‘Fantastic Four’ is set to be the next big movie in the MCU. Just a few days ago, the release date and cast were announced. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will portray The Thing, and Joseph Quinn will take on the role of the Human Torch. Filming is scheduled to start this summer. Due to a change in the release date, ‘Thunderbolts’ will now come out earlier than expected, on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there’s still no news about who the villain might be. While most of the main roles are filled, there are still smaller parts to cast. Rumors suggest that Marvel Studios is looking for a comedian to play the role of H.E.R.B.I.E.

‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie only a few days ago release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm. The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively.
Filming is expected to begin this summer, and due to the release date being switched, ‘Thunderbolts’ lost its July 2025 spot being moved to release earlier than expected on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there was not a speck of news regarding the movie’s possible villain.
And while most of the main cast has been revealed there are plenty of smaller roles that are yet to be filled and recently according to rumors Marvel Studios expressed the desire for a comedia to play a role of H.

The actor played accountant Keith Bishop in The Office and later reunited with Gervais on Netflix series After Life. MacIntosh also had roles in such U.K. comedies as Miranda and Little Britain.

Ricky Gervais does not hold back when he makes jokes, and the reason why he has been chosen to host the Golden Globe five times is because he might say something wildly offensive and controversial that would steal everyone’s attention. The Academy’s tendency to award trophies to Holocaust movies has long been whispered about — and even occasionally joked about by cheeky comedians.
In 2009, shortly after Kate Winslet won a Golden Globe for her performance as a former Auschwitz guard in “The Reader,” presenter Ricky Gervais pointed to her in the audience and deadpanned, “I told ya, do a Holocaust movie; the awards come.”
Winslet, who would go on to receive an Academy Award for her part in Stephen Daldry’s film, had several years earlier appeared on Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s HBO comedy “Extras” as an actor who stars in a film about the Holocaust in the hopes that it will earn her an Oscar.
The night of the Globes, Winslet laughed at Gervais’ ribbing, as did many in the crowd. It was a much a jab at the industry as much as it was at her.

This week saw a “Black Monday” for the TV industry due to the proposed layoffs at Channel 4 and Paramount, according to storied The Office and It Crowd producer Ash Atalla.
Atalla predicted there will be “less” shows made this year, “not more,” and that freelancers are “hurting” due to the industry slowdown, compounded by the redundancy plans.
On Monday, Channel 4, for which Atalla’s Roughcut TV has made a wealth of shows down the years including current hit Big Boys, announced it will be laying off around 240 staff as part of a ‘Fast Forward’ strategy, which will see Film4 and TV drama commissioning merged. Channel 5-owner Paramount, meanwhile, is prepping to make hundreds of layoffs in the States and UK-based international studios boss Maria Kyriacou is leaving.
“Yesterday felt like a ‘Black Monday’ in the world of TV,” Atalla said last night on a Royal Television Society panel.

In early January, comedian Katt Williams went on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and took aim at Cedric the Entertainer for stealing “my very best joke.” The bit in question — which involved a pantomime of driving with music blasting — was first performed by Katt in a 1998 appearance on ComicView, then reproduced by Cedric (according to Katt) for his set in Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy. Cedric called the accusations “revisionist history” on Instagram.

Heading into Sunday’s Golden Globe ceremony, Ricky Gervais was not confident he would win the first-ever award for Best TV Stand-Up Comedy Performance. “I’m nominated for another Golden Globe tonight,” he wrote early Sunday about his “Armageddon” Netflix special. “Won’t win, but it’s nice to still be up there in the mix, flying the flag.” Well, he did end up winning, but he wasn’t in attendance to accept his prize.
Hours after the ceremony wrapped up, Gervais posted a three-word acceptance speech on social media as only he could: “I f***ing won!” The comedian accompanied the remark with a photo of him holding a Golden Globe from when he hosted the ceremony years earlier — see below.

There’s nothing worse than silence for a comedian, but that’s something Golden Globes host Jo Koy was met with a few times during his monologue last night. When the audience failed to laugh at one of the jokes, Koy went on the defensive, saying, “Yes, I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. You’re kidding me, right? Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at.” In the latter part, he was referring to the fact that many of his jokes came from the show’s writers. In particular, the one that got his “10 days ago” defence was this one about Barbie: “The key moment in ‘Barbie’ is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite and flat feet — or what casting directors call character acting,” eliciting groans from the audience.

Jennifer Lopez Once Threatened Ricky Gervais At A Golden Globes Backstage & Asked Him Not To Crack Any Jokes About Her ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
British comedian and actor Ricky Gervais went viral a few days back for his controversial monologue involving Jeffrey Epstein at the 2020 Golden Globes. That was the last time he hosted the event. However, the comedian had a notorious reputation for his entire hosting career. Before the 2020 fiasco, Jennifer Lopez once threatened him at a Golden Globes award night.
Not just JLo, Spider-Man actor James Franco once allegedly revealed that he was not fond of Ricky’s humor. Then, the Braveheart actor once said he wanted to strangle Gervais and prefers Jimmy Fallon over the British comedian as a host. For the unversed, Ricky hosted the event five times, in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

Ricky Gervais surprised even himself by winning a Golden Globe last night.
The comedian and actor took home the Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television award at the 81st Globes for his Armageddon special on Netflix, and later posted a picture (above right) on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption “I f***ing won!”
Gervais defeated favorite Chris Rock, nominated for his Selective Outrage special, as well as Trevor Noah’s Where Was I, Amy Schumer’s Emergency Contact, Sarah Silverman’s Someone You Love and Wanda Sykes’s I’m An Entertainer.
This was the first time the award has been given out.
Five-time Globes host Gervais didn’t attend the bash at the Beverly Hilton. He had earlier posted to say he did not expect to triumph, writing: “Won’t win, but it’s nice to still be up there in the mix, flying the flag.

The Golden Globes used to involve a predictable kind of chaos. The awards themselves were voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a small and notoriously corrupt organization with a clear set of biases. Perhaps as a result, the televised broadcast has always been looser, drunker, and less self-serious than more prestigious events like the Oscars. What lacks authority also lacks pretense, and the Globes at their best — see: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s three-year hosting reign in the mid-2010s — have made the most of their relative absence of stakes.
But after years of scandals, a pandemic, strikes and pivots, including a forced hiatus from TV and then a break with NBC, the Globes spent the run-up to this Sunday’s ceremony (now on CBS) indicating that the institution had changed. For one thing, the HFPA itself is no more, replaced by a for-profit venture with an expanded,...

Ricky Gervais, who has hosted the Golden Globes five times, was a surprise winner at this year’s event for his Armageddon special.
Gervais, who was not present at the Beverly Hilton, took home the Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television award, the first stand-up award at the ceremony.
Gervais beat out favorite Chris Rock, nominated for his Selective Outrage special, as well as Trevor Noah’s Where Was I, Amy Schumer’s Emergency Contact, Sarah Silverman’s Someone You Love and Wanda Sykes’s I’m An Entertainer.
Gervais’ special, which came out on Netflix at the end of last year, saw The Office creator riff on the end of humanity, political correctness, family weddings, funerals and A.I.
Jim Gaffigan, who presented the award, accepted it on his behalf.

Ricky Gervais had one more joke to play on the Golden Globes audience: not showing up to collect his award.
The British comedian and incendiary five-time Globes host won the 2024 Golden Globe for best performance in stand-up comedy on television for his Netflix special Armageddon.
“Thank you so much for all your lovely comments & kind words about my Golden Globe win,” Gervais wrote on X. “Best fans in the world.”
The award came despite Gervais generating plenty of controversy for his jokes in the special about terminally ill children.
Earlier, Gervais tweeted that he didn’t think he’d win the category: “I’m nominated for another Golden Globe tonight. This time for my Netflix special #Armageddon. Won’t win, but it’s nice to still be up there in the mix, flying the flag.”

Our infamous forums were set ablaze during the 81st Golden Globe Awards as our impassioned posters (many of whom are Hollywood insiders hiding behind clever aliases) let loose with their opinions regarding who was and wasn’t honored. As the results of the 12 TV contests unfolded during Sunday night’s ceremony, they spent hours celebrating and criticizing the organization’s choices. What were the most jaw-dropping upsets? Which victories elicited the biggest cheers? Which losses were our posters simply unable to get over?

Netflix’s Top 10 Most-Watched Web Series Weekly List ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Netflix’s Top 10 Most-Watched Web Series list for the last week of 2023 has some exciting entries, with some old ones that have become constants. From My Life With the Walter Boys: Season 1, The Crown: Season 6 to Young Sheldon: Season 1 and others are still on the list and are in no mood to go anywhere. Instead, the viewers are not yet ready to stop binging on them.
The topmost streaming platform has brought its weekly top ten list from December 25th to 31st. It was the Holiday Week, and people were busy with the Christmas celebrations followed by the New Year, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying quality content on Netflix.
After staying on Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 Most Watched Web Series list for a long time, Squid Game: The Challenge Season 1 is no longer on it.

It looks like many households tuned in to watch Zack Snyder’s critically divisive Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire over the holidays, with Netflix revealing it was their top movie over the last week. According to the Netflix Top 10, it pulled in a pretty big 34 million views, with an estimated 77 million hours watched. It easily beat the figure it claimed last week, 23,900,000 views, showing it had good staying power. So, how does it rank up against some other recent titles? It’s trailing Leave the World Behind, which is the service’s biggest hit in a long time, which chalked up 41 million views its first week and 44.9 million the second week, but it’s done much better than recent titles like Leo, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget and David Fincher’s The Killer. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of hold it has in January. However,...

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is still No. 1 on Netflix.
In its first full week on the streamer, the first part of Snyder’s science-fiction epic racked up 34M views, making it first among the English-language film list from December 25 to 31 — and the most-watched title on the streamer. Add that to the 29M views that the film managed in its debut weekend, and Rebel Moon currently stands at around 63M views for 10 days of availability.
It’ll need to nearly triple that viewership in the next 80 or so days in order to make it among Netflix’s most popular films of all time. Rebel Moon is off to a fine start, though it’s likely the streamer was hoping for a stronger full week of viewership, considering there’s another installment and a director’s cut coming down the pipeline. For reference, Extraction 2, which is currently No. 10 on Netflix’s most popular film list,...

Fresh Battle Breaks Out With Frankie Boyle Slamming Ricky Gervais For “Self-Identifying As Stand-Up”
The seas have divided once again on social media this weekend in the UK, with two armies lining up behind their favourite controversial comedians, Frankie Boyle and Ricky Gervais.
Following Gervais’s latest stand-up special Armageddon landing on Netflix on Christmas Day, BBC Scotland aired a clip of Boyle in action in 2020 when his turn included an epic take-down of his comedic contemporary.
Gervais’s new special includes some jokes about those who self-identify as men or women, prompting Boyle’s fans to recirculate the Scottish comedian taking issue with this thus…
He told the live audience: “Ricky Gervais does maybe 15 minutes where he says, ‘Well if a trans woman can say she’s a woman, I can say that I’m a chimpanzee. I’m a chimpanzee.’
“My reaction to that is, it’s not much weirder than Ricky Gervais saying he’s a stand-up comedian.

One of The Onion’s classic headlines reads: “Marilyn Manson Now Going Door-To-Door Trying To Shock People.” The satirical article, published in 2001, was a devastating blow to a musician whose career consisted of dressing like a lunatic and screaming profane lyrics. Once you shine a light on it, the shtick becomes embarrassing quickly.
That headline came to mind when reading a tweet Ricky Gervais posted in the days before the release of his new Netflix special, “Armageddon”: “In this show, I talk about sex, death, pedophilia, race, religion, disability, free speech, global warming, the holocaust and Elton John. If you don’t approve of jokes about any of these things, then please don’t watch. You won’t enjoy it and you’ll get upset.”

Ricky Dene Gervais is hands down one of the best comedians of our times. His words and voice are honest, and they need to be preserved because there is a lot of truth in the way he speaks about topical and general things around us. He has the habit of looking at the scene and blurting out the most honest opinion of it. We all could be thinking it, but Ricky would just say it out loud for many to chuckle or feel awkward about.
Ricky has had several television shows, stand-up specials, and movies, yet the man is unstoppable at the age of 60. To think that in the day and age of ‘tokenism,’ a person like him could still keep going and be relevant through the kind of jokes he writes and presents via this medium. It seems like it’s at least once a year that Ricky Gervais makes waves for a joke made at the expense of others. And with that normally comes a defense or casual brushing off. Ahead of the release of his new special, Armageddon, Gervais is blasting the “faux offense” taken at one joke that uses the “r-word”. The bit itself involves the comedian commenting on making videos for Make-a-Wish children, to which he asks the kids, “Why didn’t you wish to get better? What, you f*cking retarded as well?” He, too, notes that he doesn’t greet the kids as “baldy”. This was not seen as heroic…
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (via Deadline), Ricky Gervais remarked, “I’m literally saying in the joke that I don’t do that. But people have a reaction. They don’t analyze it. They feel something – that’s what offense is.

Ricky Gervais has a message for those who don’t get his humor. The comedian has finally addressed a petition that was launched to remove a controversial joke from his upcoming Netflix comedy special, Armageddon, airing on Christmas Day.
The joke being objected to stems from Gervais allegedly being busy making videos for terminally ill children for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

He then added that he starts his videos to the children by saying: “Why didn’t you wish to get better? What, you fucking ret**ed as well?”

Ricky Gervais has stirred up another controversy with a joke in his new Netflix special “Armageddon,” which hasn’t even come out yet.
In a teaser clip released by the comedian, Gervais jokes about terminally ill children, calling them “baldy” and the R-slur. Now, more than 12,000 people have signed a Change.org petition demanding Netflix remove the joke from Gervais’ upcoming stand-up special, which hits the platform on Dec. 25.

“Succession” made sure to make history on it’s way out, earning a record-breaking nine nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes for its farewell season. Those final nominations helped HBO score 17 overall, the most of any network at the 81st ceremony; the network netted 16 nominations and its streaming service Max landed one. It won a neck-and-neck race with Netflix, which earned 15 total, with Apple TV+ just missing out on double digits with nine.
In addition to those nine “Succession” nominations, HBO had success with its other drama series “The Last of Us,” which earned three bids. “The Crown,” “Beef,” and “The Diplomat” led the way for Netflix, which also got a boost by dominating the new Stand-Up Comedian on Television category with five bids out of the six total slots. “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” and “Lessons in Chemistry” all contributed to the Apple TV+ tally.

Steve Carell felt it was a good time to say goodbye to Michael Scott after the fifth season of The Office. But being a producer of the show, Gervais believed that his Office successor was doing the right thing leaving.
How Ricky Gervais felt about Steve Carell leaving ‘The Office’ Steve Carell | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
The Office became just as much Carell’s show as it was once Gervais’. The comic actor portrayed the clumsy but endearing Michael Scott for five seasons before leaving the series in others’ hands. Still, Carell’s departure from the show didn’t mean the end of the series. The Office would enjoy three more successful seasons before wrapping up its story. Handing the show off to new actors and characters to lead was partially the reason why Carell left.
“It was time for other characters to step to the forefront and other storylines to be pursued,...

Steve Carrell portrayed iconic character Michael Scott for five seasons in The Office. But before he was cast as the character, he turned to Ricky Gervais’ Office performance for help. Only to realize that might’ve been a bad idea.
Why Steve Carrell refused to watch the rest of Ricky Gervais’ ‘Office’ performance as David Brent Ricky Gervais, Stuart Brothman, Bill Hilary, and Matt Roush | Bryan Bedder/Getty Images
Office initially started off as Gervais’ brainchild. The UK mockumentary series was originally created by the frequent Golden Globe host and his partner Stephen Merchant in 2001. Although it was short-lived, only lasting for a couple of seasons, it left an incredible impact on the television industry. So much so that the series lived on through the American version of The Office, which was considerably more successful than its predecessor.
Gervais played David Brent, who was the manager to the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company.

Scarlett Johansson once starred in a movie about the making of Alfred Hitchcock’s horror classic Psycho. But filming might have gotten too real for Johansson when she reenacted Psycho’s iconic scene with veteran Anthony Hopkins.

The cost of British comedy is just getting more expensive — news that doesn’t make great reading for the UK’s comic talent base.
Budgets for UK comedy shows are now closer to drama budgets than entertainment, with prices rising quickly in the past few years due to inflation, according to BBC Studios Comedy boss Josh Cole. This has stunted the chances of low-fi, low-budget comedies such as BBC3’s This Country from cutting through, he added.
“Comedy has got more expensive over the past could of years, even since when we made This Country,” he said. “Comedy was always closer to an entertainment budget and now it’s closer to a drama budget. You don’t necessarily have that two-tier system anymore. A gradual evolution added to inflation means the money doesn’t goes far in comedy.”
However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom, with Cole pointing to...
