A year after hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, and only a few weeks after Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake culminated in a chart-topping track where he calls Drake a “colonizer,” the hottest topic on the rap internet right now is a white kid from St. Louis rapping over vintage-sounding Atlanta rap beats. Ian, whose debut mixtape, Valedictorian, caps off a run of viral hits that have quickly caught the attention and ire of rap fans online, leans heavily into the dissonance between his look and his sound. One of the biggest and most sensational developments in modern hip-hop came in the form of the recent Kendrick Lamar-Drake feud. The two rap giants have moved ahead in a tussle, with several diss tracks being fired from both sides. Additionally, it has also involved other rappers such as the likes of Ye, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd, calling them to choose their team. Now, in an interesting development, the latest pair to get involved in this mix is the father-son duo of Tom Hanks and Chet Hanks.

The duo’s conversation made its way to social media and has several fans rolling in hysteria and amazement. A detailed explanation from the son to the acclaimed actor, who still appeared clueless, had the Internet in splits. Regardless, the summary still highlighted the intensity of the feud and its knocking on the Hanks’ doors.

Like many other folks approaching 70, Tom Hanks found himself out of the loop when the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake dominated headlines during the first week of May. So, he reached out to his son and hip-hop enthusiast, Chet Hanks, for an explanation and got a far longer response than he expected — so much so that he apparently didn’t bother reading the reply.
Chet posted the exchange in his Instagram Stories today (May 20th), which began with his father saying, “Big Main, can you explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud to me?”
In response, Chet broke down how Drake and J. Cole had long claimed they were among the “Big 3” of hip-hop alongside Kendrick Lamar, which prompted Kendrick to come after them on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.”
He continued by referring to Drake’s short jokes on “Push Ups” before moving on to the meat of the beef on “euphoria,...

Financial matters have taken center stage in the nasty divorce between former pro football player Kroy Biermann and reality TV star Kim Zolciak.
Biermann, 38, recently filed a financial report with the court, with a spreadsheet attached that detailed Zolciak’s alleged extravagant spending while they were married. The report claims that Zolciak, 45, spent over $600,000 at luxury stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, Chanel, Versace and Agent Provocateur between 2016 and 2023.
Additionally, Biermann’s filing states that Zolciak made substantial investments in Bitcoin and the lottery, with expenses that totaled $161,912.87 in 2021 and an additional $65,966.95 in 2022. These financial revelations come as a response to Zolciak’s request for privacy and a motion to compel Biermann to provide financial documents. Biermann challenged her privacy demands and noted her public updates on social media, which range from cosmetic procedures to Botox injections. He also alleged that Zolciak has cash stashed away in a separate bank account.

It’s possible to divide American history into two eras: before the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and after. Before John Wilkes Booth fatally shot Lincoln at a performance of “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theater on April 15, 1865, assassination simply wasn’t a part of the national conscience. For all the political disputes of America’s 18th and early 19th centuries, straight up killing the other guy wasn’t seen as a possibility, let alone an option. Lincoln’s murder marked the transition to an America where, mathematically speaking, 9% of all sitting Presidents have been assassinated. And they say logging is a dangerous job.
The TV show “Manhunt” on Apple TV+, premiering March 15, tells the story of how Booth evaded capture for twelve days after killing Lincoln, but it’s also a dramatization of the first few weeks of the post-assassination era of American history — the era in which we live today.

Tom Hanks kicked off his 67th birthday with a sweet (and funny) tribute from his wife, Rita Wilson. On July 9, Wilson shared a photo of Hanks wearing a tropical shirt that almost matches the curtain behind him on Instagram. She captioned this peak dad pic with a heartfelt message about how much her husband means to her, and how much typewriters mean to him.
"Happy Birthday to this man who is my lover, my best friend, my family, the father of my children," Wilson wrote. "He loves a typewriter just slightly less than me, ( why is there no typewriter emoji?) invents cocktails like Diet Cokecaine ( Diet Coke mixed with Champagne) or a Cokearita( Diet Coke mixed with margarita) , DJs regularly on @bossradio66 , is happiest being surround by his family and friends, and has committed to telling the stories of veterans and has created his own coffee brand supporting veterans, @givehanx Hanx for our Troops.

Rita Wilson is setting the record straight about those pics of her and Tom Hanks appearing to scold a man on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.
The pair attended the star-studded event for Hanks’ “Asteroid City” premiere on Tuesday, and snaps showing the couple seemingly having a heated discussion with a man were quick to do the rounds online.
However, it seems like Hanks’ nice guy reputation is going nowhere, as Wilson took to her Instagram Story to insist not all was as it seemed.

Showtime has canceled Ziwe’s self-titled variety show after two seasons, sources close to the show told TheWrap on Wednesday.
After “Desus & Mero” ended last year, it was the last remaining late-night series on the cabler.
It was also one of the few talk shows hosted by a woman after Comedy Central pulled the plug on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” in July 2022 after seven seasons.

The comedian rose to fame with her YouTube comedy “Baited with Ziwe,” and was a writer on “Desus & Mero” from 2018 to 2020. She also co-hosted Crooked Media’s Hysteria podcast and voiced Kamala Harris on Showtime’s animated series “Our Cartoon President.”

Ziwe Fumudoh’s list of iconic guests has run short. The comedian’s Showtime talk show “Ziwe” has been canceled at the premium cable network after two seasons, IndieWire has confirmed.
In addition, the channel has given a six-episode season order to “Seasoned,” a new comedy show starring real-life married couple Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody; co-created and co-written by their son Gideon Grody-Patinkin and Ewen Wright, the show is directly inspired by the pair’s real-life relationship. The channel also passed on the pilot for “The Wood,” a comedy series based on the 1999 film from Rick Famuyiwa. Finally, Showtime acquired “Heist 88,” a crime thriller film starring Courtney B. Vance, and will premiere it as an original after it was originally scheduled to premiere on Paramount+.

Exclusive: Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance’s film Heist 88, which had been earmarked for Paramount+, will be moving to Showtime, Deadline has learned. Additionally, I hear the network has made decisions on two of its three comedy pilots, handing a six-episode series order to Seasoned, starring Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, and passing on The Wood, based on the 1999 feature film. Showtime also has opted not to renew Ziwe, hosted and executive produced by comedian Ziwe Fumudoh, for a third season.
Paramount Television Studios, which produces The Wood, will be shopping it elsewhere.

Chet Hanks has hit back at Eric André, who recently accused him of “breaking” the crew during a guest appearance on his show.
The 39-year-old comic hosts The Eric André Show, an absurdist unscripted sketch programme that parodies late-night talk shows. It features interviews with celebrities and celebrity impersonators, interspersed with chaotic man-on-the-street-type segments.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, André recalled Hanks, the 32-year-old son of Hollywood icons Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, allegedly engaging in “dangerous” behaviour while on set of the Adult Swim series.
Shortly after the interview was published (on 14 March), Hanks responded to André, labelling him “emotionally disturbed”.
“Had no idea you were such a p***y,” Hanks wrote, tagging him in an Instagram Story.
Hanks then followed up with a subsequent video, sharing his side of the story.
“So Eric André invites me onto his show. I had never seen it before, so I started watching episodes.

Tom Hanks dismissed the current nepotism debate when recently talking to The Sun about his family of actors. Hanks is married to actor Rita Wilson, and they have two children: Rapper and actor Chet Hanks and Truman Hanks, who pops up in Tom’s new movie “A Man Called Otto.” Hanks’ son from a previous marriage is Colin Hanks, whose most recent acting roles included “The Offer” and “A Friend of the Family.”
“Look, this is a family business,” Hanks said in the interview. “This is what we’ve been doing forever. It’s what all of our kids grew up in. If we were a plumbing supply business or if we ran the florist shop down the street, the whole family would be putting in time at some point, even if it was just inventory at the end of the year.”

Hollywood is awash with “nepo babies”. It may sound like some sort of children’s craze – some new kind of Tamagotchi or Neopet perhaps – but the reality is far more unseemly. The term, of course, refers to the children of celebrities who go on to pursue careers in show business. The Maya Hawkes, Lily Rose Depps and Jaden Smiths of the world. This is hardly a new development; from Judy Garland and Liza Minelli to the Bridges and the Fondas, Hollywood has always loved a dynasty. But now, it seems, more than ever, celebrity children in their hordes are surfing to fame on their parents’ velveteen coattails. And people aren’t having it.
On Monday, the model and musician Lourdes Leon – Madonna’s eldest daughter – gave an interview with The Cut in which she discussed her own “nepo baby” status. “I want to feel like I deserve things and not...

FX's "Atlanta" is known for throwing viewers a curveball or two, but the show's reputation for unpredictable twists is why many will miss it after it concludes its final season this fall. Over the course of four seasons, the critically acclaimed series has turned itself into must-see TV for its bold innovation and sharp comedy, but the show's surprise guest appearances every now and then have also become a fan-favorite trend.
Though some episodes of "Atlanta" have faked viewers out with teases of appearances from folks like D'Angelo and Tupac and even made big moments out of its signature characters like Donald Glover's Teddy Perkins, the actual stars who have been seen in the series are always a real treat. Even those who were originally slated to guest-star on "Atlanta" have been a surprise for viewers.
According to Glover, Jaden Smith was previously set to appear in an episode of "Atlanta,...

Like many young American dreamers on their first trip abroad, the “Atlanta” crew took inspiration from their European setting to deliver a penultimate season filled with big swings. Nearly half the episodes didn’t include the main cast. Two more that did were spotlight episodes for Van (Zazie Beetz) and Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry), which didn’t include the rest of the core ensemble. Cameos stirred the pot, from Chet Hanks to Liam Neeson, Kevin Samuels to Alexander Skarsgård. The first 10 episodes released in 2022 — and the first released since 2018 — repeatedly reshaped “Atlanta,” with stories critiquing white liberals’ shortcomings (hello to “The Big Payback”), others examining fears specific to Black entertainers (“New Jazz”), and plenty of episodes chock-full of ghosts.
Spirits of the past feel right at home among Europe’s dense history and make great additions to a trippy comedy like “Atlanta” — especially ones that take the form of real characters,...

The case will be closing on Your Honor, it has been revealed.
Series star Bryan Cranston confirmed the news that the hit Showtime drama will conclude with its forthcoming second season.
“I am [currently] preparing for the second and last season of Your Honor, which is a limited series that I did for Showtime,” Cranston shared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.
“As they tell me, it got higher ratings than any other series they’ve ever had — and so, one more season of that.”
The news is a little bit surprising, especially when you consider the success of the freshman run.
Then again, the series was initially conceived as a one-season limited series, but Showtime announced a renewal almost a year ago.
“We were blown away by Your Honor — by the power of [Peter Moffat’s] storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance and by the overwhelming reaction...

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we tackle the chaotic limited field.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re in the thick of it now, with Emmy contenders dropping almost every single day. But for our typing purposes this week, let’s go back to one of my personal favorites: limited series. Maybe I’m giddy because I just talked to my buddy Jared Leto about “WeCrashed”, but this remains a deep and chaotic category, with so many worthy contenders that the list of deserving shows that wind up getting snubbed will number double digits. Overall, I remain committed to the top four in the limited series odds — although with a slightly adjusted order: “The Dropout,” “Dopesick,” “Maid,” and “The White Lotus.” But after that, I’m...
