Norma Percy Making More ‘Putin Vs The West’
Veteran filmmaker Norma Percy is producing two additional episodes of her seminal Putin vs the West documentary series for the BBC and Arte France. Zinc Media’s Brook Lapping and Les Films d’Ici are attached to co-produce Putin vs the West: War (working title) , which will cover Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, the proceeding war and the response from the West. The first three episodes explored Putin’s relationship with the West, from the invasion of Crimea to the brink of its wider invasion of Ukraine. “As we always do, we will take viewers behind the scenes to show how and why the crucial decisions were made, and what it was like for Ukraine’s President Zelensky, Britain’s Prime Ministers and Western leaders as they struggled against Putin’s invasion without provoking World War Three,” said series producer Percy.

Dineo is a romantic. Noni loves having a good time. The long-time best friends might not see eye to eye when it comes to long-term relationships, but brother-and-sister filmmaking duo Katleho and Rethabile Ramaphakela find the space to give both of the mismatched heroines a fresh, funny romantic comedy befitting their charms. The latest rom-com offering from Netflix — and yet another African pick-up from the streamer —
“Seriously Single,” the first feature from the Ramaphakela siblings, initially takes familiar shape, presenting a glossy Johannesburg as the next great rom-com setting, complete with all sorts of sexy, silly love stories. Dineo (Fulu Mugovhani) is a serial monogamist, prone to oversharing her latest boyfriends to the point of smothering obliteration.
Dumped often and hard — we first meet Dineo when she’s being jilted on Valentine’s Day, on a livestream, at her place of business — Dineo doesn’t let her latest heartbreak get her down,...

Comedy Central is taking “Roast Battle” to Mexico, with a new local version of the format. New seasons of the show, in which comedians attempt to take each other down and have their efforts judged by a panel of celebrity judges, have also been greenlit by the Viacom channel in the U.S., U.K., and South Africa.
The U.K. judging lineup is changing, and Russell Brand will not return as a judge, Variety has learned. Comedians Jimmy Carr and Katherine Ryan will come back for the five-part second season of the British show. James Corden’s Fulwell 73 and U.K. indie Ideastron are on production duty.
In Mexico, the local version will be called “Comedy Central Duelo de Comediantes” and launch in July. The six-part series will have three battles per episode. In the U.S., there will be a third season of “Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle...
