Jesse Eisenberg has made a career out of playing socially awkward characters who find themselves in an extraordinary situation. The actor hit the peak of this trope when he was cast as Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s The Social Network. The film was universally acclaimed and was nominated in eight categories at the Oscars, winning three.
Amidst screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who adapted the first film from the book The Accidental Billionaires, talking about working on a sequel to the film, actor Jesse Eisenberg had expressed his enthusiasm at getting another stab at playing the billionaire long ago. However, he was not that hopeful about playing another billionaire he had played before – Lex Luthor.

There are a number of TV series’ moments that are inscribed in cinematic history because they foretold some of the important events, which happened later, with some of them being likely to become true, while some others were totally unexpected.
Here are 5 TV series that predicted the future a little too accurately.
1. Star Trek (1966-1969) - Moon Landing
The original Star Trek is notorious for its predictions, the most remarkable of which is clearly the depiction of humanity's first landing on the moon. The 1967 episode titled Tomorrow Is Yesterday features a NASA broadcast reviewing the preparations for the game-changing moon landing. Two years later, the USA indeed became the first nation to set foot on the moon with the successful flight of Apollo 11.
2. Friends (1994 - 2004) - Facebook

If there ever was a based-on-a-true-story movie that called for a sequel, it’s “The Social Network,” director David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s 2010 classic about the founding of Facebook. The early years covered in the film were just the beginning of the Mark Zuckerberg story before Facebook (now Meta) became one of the most powerful companies on the planet, capable of shaping the future of democracy for the worse.
So it’s no wonder that Sorkin is working on a sort of sequel to “The Social Network.”
During an interview on the showbiz news podcast “The Town,” Sorkin was asked how he thinks Facebook and social media, in general, have impacted democracy in the 14 years since “The Social Network” came out.
After exchanging a look with his publicist, Sorkin told host Matthew Belloni and guest co-host Peter Hamby that he’s planning to write a movie about this topic.

David Fincher’s The Social Network explored the sinister roots of the site’s genesis and its rapid growth. Now, Aaron Sorkin has taken to the task of following up on his script with a sequel of sorts, exploring the unwavering influence it has on its users.

Meta (formerly called Facebook) pretty much ignored the social media elephant in the room today on a post-earnings conference call, with chief financial officer Susan Li saying it’s too early to discuss what just happened in Washington, D.C. President Biden has signed into law a bill that would force TikTok’s Chinese parent company to divest the hugely popular U.S. app within about nine months or risk it being banned.
TikTok said it will take the fight to the courts.
“We’ve obviously been following the events related to TikTok closely,” said Li (although the question had been directed to Meta CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg). “But at this stage it is just too early, I think, to assess its impact or what it would mean to our business.”

Facebook parent Meta posted solid quarterly financials today with revenue and Eps beating Wall Street expectations, but investors dinged the stock on high expenses and lower than anticipated revenue for the current quarter. Shares are down 10% in after-market trading.
What Meta calls “Family daily active people” or Dap, rose 7% to 3.24 billion for the three months ended in March. The company also owns Instagram and WhatsApp.
Revenue rose 27% to $36.46 billion for the quarter. Net income of $12.4 billion was way up from $5.7 billion the year before.
The company’s numbers hit the same day that President Biden signed into a law legislation that will make life difficult for giant rival TikTok, whose Chinese parent has about nine months to divest the social media network or potentially see it banned from U.S. app stores. This is shaping up to be a massive legal battle with potential good news for rivals like Meta’s Reels.

On the earnings call, Zuckerberg said the rollout last week of the new Meta AI, an assistant that can be used within search to answer complex queries, make recommendations and create animations from still images and more, is going well, with tens of million of people trying it and giving positive feedback.

Mark Zuckerberg has seen that photo of him circulating on social media!
On Thursday (April 18), the 39-year-old Facebook founder posted a video on Instagram where he announced the launch of the new version of Meta AI.
After sharing the video, someone Photoshopped a screengrab of Mark to soften his appearance, made him a tad tanner, and added in a beard – which immediately went viral with some people thirsting over the fake Mark. (You can see the photo here!)
Once the Photoshopped image went viral, Mark reacted.

Remember Jesse Eisenberg's performance as Lex Luthor in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"? Sure you do. It's a big, over-the-top take on a classic villain, with Eisenberg deciding to go kind of crazy playing the evil billionaire. I don't think you can call it a good performance, but I guess it's pretty darn memorable. I mean, how can you forget such a bananas take on a memorable character? I think when Eisenberg was cast we all assumed he'd play the character like he played another evil billionaire: Mark Zuckerberg. But that's not what happened. Instead, Eisenberg played Lex like a giant toddler who occasionally blows people up. It was wild.
As it turns out, things could've been mighty different. While appearing on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast (via ScreenRant), "Batman v Superman" director Zack Snyder revealed that an even bigger star was in consideration for the part. And...

The Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, also known as “the Oscars of Science,” is an awards show unlike any other.
Founded and funded by Silicon Valley titan Yuri Milner and his artist wife Julia Milner, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, 23andMe co-founder Anne Wojcicki, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative co-founder Priscilla Chan, the Breakthrough Prize recognizes “scientists changing the world” with award statuettes and sizable cash prizes. And on Saturday night, at the ceremony’s 10th edition — the second in a row held on the roof of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, with the Hollywood Hills glistening in the background — presenters, performers and audience members included a collection of A-listers that could give the Oscars a run for their money.
One could turn left and spot Bill Gates and Robert Downey Jr. sitting at the same table, or right and find tablemates Bradley Cooper and Rupert Murdoch schmoozing.

A newly unsealed document in a potential class-action lawsuit alleges that Facebook shut down Facebook Watch to keep Netflix among its top advertisers — and to keep ads for Netflix series and films off of emerging competitors like Snapchat, a person with knowledge of the lawsuit tells IndieWire. And along the way, the two traded lots and lots of your data — allegedly.
The suit, filed by attorney Brian J. Dunne on behalf of other Facebook advertisers, seeks billions in damages. If they win at trial or settle, the exact dollar amount would come down to a percentage of Facebook’s overall advertising revenue from 2016-2019.
Before Facebook launched streaming-video platform Facebook Watch in August 2017, Netflix spent about $40 million per year on Facebook ads, per the letter from Dunne to a Judge Donato. Shortly after Mark Zuckerberg doomed Facebook Watch by decimating its budget in 2018, the spend increased to $150 million; two years later,...

I’m balancing on a tightrope, 3,000 feet above the Nordic fjords. As I glance down into the watery abyss, my stomach churns. Indian weddings aren’t a simple affair. That is particularly true if you are a billionaire businessman living in India. Well, Mukesh Ambani’s son is getting married, and Rihanna has arrived in India to perform at his wedding.
The harrowing thing, however, is that after taking a hiatus, an unreleased album, and all in all, a fading legacy of songs, Rihanna decided to perform at Ambani’s wedding. And that is exactly what the people noticed when they talked about the sheer amount of money that’s been thrown at this event and how money is a magical thing.

Mark Zuckerberg delivered a resoundingly negative review of Apple’s Vision Pro, saying after he “finally tried” the headset that he found it inferior to his pride and joy, Meta’s Quest 3.
Apple’s device went on sale earlier this month, and at $3,500, it is several times the price of the Quest 3. Even at a much lower price point, per the Facebook founder, Quest weighs less; has no wires, delivers crisper and brighter video; and is on balance “better for the vast majority of things that people use mixed reality for.”
Zuckerberg offered his impressions in a video posted to Instagram, adding a jab at Apple “fanboys.” (Watch it below.)
“I have to say that before this, I expected that Quest would be the better value for most people since it’s really good and like seven times less expensive, but after using it, I don’t just think that Quest is the better value,...

On the heels of Sam Esmail’s apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind and December news reports that Mark Zuckerberg is constructing a 5,000-square-foot bunker under his ranch on the island of Kauai, the business of fortified shelters is booming.
Adding more fuel to the flames: escalating armed conflict around the globe and, closer to home, the ongoing onslaught of mass shootings and an increasingly fractious political landscape leading up to the presidential election on Nov. 5.
The one-percenters who can afford to pull out all the stops for self-preservation are doing so more than ever — often in a fashion that goes way beyond the submerged corrugated metal units seen on reality shows like Nat Geo’s Doomsday Preppers.
Aiming to protect themselves from potential threats including civil unrest, cyberattacks, nuclear bombing, power grid failure and drastic climate-change events, many work directly with general contractors to build kitted-out end-times bunkers, while...

Sheryl Sandberg Fronting Israeli Documentary About Sexual Atrocities Committed By Hamas On October 7
Exclusive: Sheryl Sandberg is fronting a documentary about sexual atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7.
The former COO of Meta and founder of LeanIn.org is presenting Screams Before Silence from Israeli doc maker Kastina Communications, which will focus on “women and girls who were raped, assaulted, and mutilated in a brutal rampage of gender-based violence.”
In the one-hour doc, which launches in April, Sandberg will interview released hostages and eyewitnesses to the terrifying October 7 Hamas attack at the Supernova Music Festival, the catalyst for a war that is still raging four months on.
Sandberg will also speak to first responders, and medical and forensic experts, as she tries to answer questions around why “many leading figures have attempted to minimize the attacks on women despite a whole wealth of evidence that they occurred.”
Sandberg has been vocal on the subject since November, penning a CNN op-ed that said “rape...
