Welsh actor Michael Sheen has been praised for a thunderous rallying call he gave on the panel of sports quiz programme A League of Their Own.
The Damned United star was asked to deliver a motivational speech for Robert Page’s Wales national football team, ahead of their World Cup clash with England.
Few were expecting what followed, however, with Sheen throwing himself completely into the task.
“I hear the voices singing. Speed your journey, bois bach [good heavens],” he said. “One nation, singing with one voice, a song of hope, a song of courage. A victory song that floats through the valleys, like a red mist, rolls over the mountain tops, like crimson thunder.
“A red storm is coming to the gates of Qatar. It crackles, with the spirit of ‘58 and Jimmy Murphy’s boys. It turns the pages of the history books and finds Rob’s page, waiting, still to be written.

Lord Alan Sugar has been criticised for hitting out at someone who questioned his social media activity.
The entrepreneur and star of The Apprentice had shared a photographed of his yacht with the moon in the background, alongside the caption: “A moon landing.”
A Twitter user then responded to the post with the message: “People are struggling here with the cost of living and you taking pictures of your yacht.”
Sugar then shot back: “Shut your bloody mouth you jealous scum.”
The strongly worded insult has drawn criticism from other users of the social media website.
“Have some respect for people with differing opinions and who are less lucky than yourself,” one person wrote.
“Is this a parody account?? Surely no public figure is actually this rude??” another commented.
“Wow. That escalated quickly!” someone else wrote. “The dude had a valid point and you just shown him the contempt and total disregard.

Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about the “alarming” car accident that occurred while filming the latest episode of The Grand Tour.
It was reported earlier this year that James May, who stars in the Prime Video motoring series alongside Clarkson and Richard Hammond, had been “rushed to hospital” after crashing his car in Norway.
The trio were in the country to film segments for their latest one-off special, The Ground Tour: A Scandi Flick.
In an essay for The Sunday Times, Clarkson discussed the crash in detail.
“In the latest episode of The Grand Tour there’s a big and alarming crash,” he wrote.
“There’s always a big and alarming crash in The Grand Tour of course, but this one was different because the person who was gingerly lifted from the wreckage by paramedics and carefully driven to hospital in the back of an ambulance was not Richard Hammond.

Harry Potter actor Sean Biggerstaff has branded Jeremy Clarkson a “rancid old thug” after the Grand Tour presenter made a remark about “socialists”.
On Friday (9 September), Clarkson tweeted: “Twitter is a handy and constant reminder that socialists are disgusting people.”
The post attracted criticism from many users of the social media website, including Biggerstaff, the actor best known for playing Oliver Wood in three films from the Harry Potter franchise.
“Shut the f*** up you rancid old thug,” wrote Biggerstaff in response to Clarkson’s post.
Clarkson is best known as the host of the BBC motoring series Top Gear, from which he departed in 2015 following allegations that he had assaulted one of the show’s producers.
His tweet was seemingly made in reference to reactions to the death of Queen Elizabeth II among left-wing republicans.

Acclaimed comedian Stewart Lee has heaped scorn on Ricky Gervais’s hit Netflix series After Life.
After Life follows the exploits of a curmudgeonly widower (Gervais) who slowly rediscovers his lust for life.
In an interview with Rob Brydon for his podcast Brydon &, Lee discussed the merits of Gervais’s series, describing it as “abysmal”.
“I think The Office is brilliant. I think Ricky’s comedy drama work is of diminishing returns to the point where it’s now abysmal,” he said. “I think it must be very sad.
“If you’re teaching drama or creative writing, how can you make a case for the things that make drama and creative writing good when After Life is a success? Because your kids could just go, ‘But none of those things happen in this!’ And yet, millions people watch it.

Heading on tour around the UK this month is Tiff Stevenson. Her new stand-up show, Mad Man, is about to get underway, and she spared us some time for a chat. It got quite nerdy...
I'll start with the obvious one, and then we can go nerdy. You're going on tour with a show called Mad Man. What's it about?
It's about identity really. Who we are as people, how much of our personalities are made up of what we think we like and what we put out into the world, and how much is chewed up and sold back to us through various advertisements and social media and everything else.
Do you have specific examples you're tapping into?
Yeah, sure. Advertising is a huge thread that runs through the show.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown will return for a new series in May and, yep, Joey Essex will be back.
Host Jimmy Carr will be back on the show alongside team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson and Countdown stars Rachel Riley and Susie Dent.
Once again, Dent will be joined in Dictionary Corner by a host of celebrities including Johnny Vegas, Joe Lycett and Nina Conti. And then there's Joey Essex - who won't be in Dictionary Corner this time, but will be helping out Riley with the letters and numbers. So that's going to go well.
The former Towie star previously appeared on the show in September, when he vowed that he could handle the Countdown clock because he's "a good counter" and strangely got confused about whether or not he was on Countdown.

It's time for former Rugby player Austin Healey, Towie star Dan Osborne, TV presenter Anna Williamson and Paralympic gold medallist Richard Whitehead to slip into their swimwear for the second semi-final of the season. "When I was a kid, Frank Skinner was the comedian I looked up to. There were various ones I was into like Jack Dee and Vic & Bob, but I loved Fantasy Football, because I was a big football fan.
"Reading his autobiography about how he became a stand-up comedian - I know Kevin Bridges said the same thing - you read that and go, 'That is what I want to do'. He was the one.
"I was just obsessed with comedy really. All that TV comedy, from Father Ted through to The Fast Show. When I was growing up in the late '90s it was a really amazing, fertile time for comedy.
"The best way to be influenced is to watch lots and lots of comedy, because then you don't sound like anyone in particular.

The Us comedian slams Two and a Half Men's Chuck Lorre for nabbing her gags, Jennifer Saunders slags off the BBC and Johnny Vegas interviews himself
This week's comedy news
It's a powderkeg issue in the world of comedy – and Roseanne Barr has gone off like a rocket this week, accusing Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre of thieving jokes. On Friday, Barr used Twitter (what else?) to berate Lorre and the show's star, Ashton Kutcher, who cracked a gag on the show similar to one Barr performed in 2006. The joke is about old age and the menopause: "I'd imagine that you're wet in the places you used to be dry," said Kutcher's character, "and dry in the places you used to be wet." This prompted a volley of online abuse from Barr. "Comics," began one: "Begin Watching Chuck Lorre'S Shows 2 See If He Steals Your...

Director Harmony Korine may lech over Spring Breakers' bikini-clad heroines, but he's also on their side in his funniest and least irritating film yet
Spring break is getting to be like prom night or Thanksgiving: an alien American institution we've consumed so much in pop culture that it's almost as if we Brits have experienced it in our rainy Brit lives. Anyway, we're expected to be in on the cultural reference – in this case, lithe, young college kids partying super hard in sunny Florida during the March vacation.
The Glasgow comic Kevin Bridges famously took a stand against this Americanisation, dourly recalling watching high school movies with "spring break" scenes: "We didn't have 'spring break'; we had the Easter holidays." Like a Christmas movie in December, this film has actually been released at the correct seasonal time, although it means less in the shivering UK than in the Us.

A few months ago, I wrote an article about the music of the Final Fantasy series, which featured thirty definitive tracks from a selection of hundreds that have been heard throughout the franchise’s long and illustrious history.
In 2002, the series diversified somewhat, as several of its characters and key elements were incorporated into the new Kingdom Hearts franchise, an action role-playing-game featuring Disney worlds and characters. Developed by Final Fantasy’s creators, Square, in partnership with Disney themselves, the series doesn’t have as rich of a heritage as its predecessor, but it features music of a similarly high quality, composed almost exclusively by Japanese composer Yoko Shimomura.
He may not be as renowned as Nobuo Uematsu, but the fifteen pieces of exquisite music featured in this list show that Shimomura is at least comparable to the man, and has a bright future ahead of him if Kingdom Hearts III ever enters development.

The date : August 19th – 21st | The place: Chelmsford, Essex | The event : V Festival 2011
Why is V Festival such an amazing music festival, when you have the likes of Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Global Gathering, Latitude, and Isle Of Wight – to name but a few? Director: Larry Blamire. Review: Adam Wing. Comedy. It’s an acquired taste. With that in mind, I’d like to make a few things clear - that would be me. Airplane. Not funny. Leslie Nielsen. Not funny. Chevy Chase. Not funny. Lee Evans. Funny (even if he does make me feel uncomfortable with his relentless sweating). The Mighty Boosh. Not funny. Harry Hill. Not funny. Leigh Francis. Not funny. My Family… are they even calling that comedy these days? Ricky Gervais. Funny. Steve Merchant. Funny. Michael McIntyre. Funny. Stewart Francis. Funny. Kevin Bridges. Funny. Simon Pegg. Funny. Dumb & Dumber. Funny. Steve Carell. Funny. Comedy, like I say, very much an acquired taste. Larry Blamire, best known for cult favourite The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, returns to writing, directing and producing with a loving tribute to 60’s sci-fi movies. To Kill A Mockingbird At 50 might just be the TV choice of the week, as we round up the next week's telly. Plus, as usual, there's a lot of films to get through...!
A new comedy show launched last Friday, and its second show airs tonight, July 2nd at 11:05pm on Channel 4. I'm far from Patrick Kielty's biggest fan, but any outlet for comedians of the calibre of the planned guests is a welcome one. Politics, news, and sporting losses are always easier to take when dished out by funny people and Rich Hall, Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho and Kevin Bridges do just that in an appropriate bar setting in Stand Up For The Week.
Family Guy continues its Star Wars specials on Sunday, July 4th, with Something, Something, Something, Dark Side. We think it's as good a pairing as Robot Chicken, Legos, or thumbs can manage.

Doctor Who! Ashes To Ashes! Jonathan Creek! The Pacific! More Doctor Who! How's this for a terrific week for films and shows on UK TV?
We're all sat, antsy, pouring over stills and looping seconds' worth of trailers and preview snippets heralding the new Doctor into our lives.
The build up of anticipation continues and whether the offering up of alternate, past Who Doctors makes the ever-shortening wait for the new any less stinging, or eases the itch a bit, is a personal matter. But, we'll take all the Who we can get, thank you.
The Doctor-ful weekend starts today, and we think it must be the most Who-filled Easter we've seen. We'll get right to the schedules of all things Time Lordish, and the other great programmes guaranteed to make you smile, laugh - or get that puzzled expression that looks so good on you - over the next few days.
