We haven't seen or heard from Rey (Daisy Ridley) since the final scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when she took the name "Rey Skywalker," but new dialogue may give us some idea of what to expect when the character returns for Lucasfilm's upcoming Rey-focused movie.
The quotes come from the latest wave of kyber crystals released in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World and Disneyland, and would appear to give us a glimpse into the mind of the powerful Force-wielder following the events of the sequel trilogy.
Here are the quotes in full (via Gizmodo).
“When I met Luke Skywalker, I offered him his lightsaber and he tossed it away. But the Force doesn’t always make things easy. So you keep trying, that’s all you can do.”

5 Sexiest Characters in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - Main Image
Just when we thought that Star Wars trilogies were over after the release of Episode VII – Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Lucasfilm once again brought the story of the galaxy far, far away to life with the sequel trilogy. But aside from its intricate storylines and fascinating lore, another thing that caught the viewers' eyes was its characters’ incredible charm and allure.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy, which included Episode VII—The Force Awakens, Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, and Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker, featured some of the best actors of their time.
It saw the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and the late Carrie Fisher as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa.
But it also introduced franchise newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac as Rey Skywalker, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron,...

You know what I miss? Disney's inspirational true story dramas and sports movies. As easy and often valid as it is to poke holes in their predictable narrative structures and complain about them reducing even the most unbelievable real-life events to a cookie-cutter formula, we could do with some earnest, uplifting pictures about marginalized people defying the odds to realize their dreams right about now. We got some pretty good -- not to mention culturally sensitive -- ones in the '10s, too, including "McFarland, USA" and "Queen of Katwe." Sadly, however, modest to disappointing box office returns have since led to those types of offerings being relegated to streaming only (see also: the underappreciated Willem Dafoe adventure film "Togo").

Lucasfilm is finally getting back to making “Star Wars” films, tasking director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) to continue the Rey Skywalker journey in the tentatively titled “Star Wars: New Jedi Order.” Actress Daisy Ridley will obviously reprise her role from the sequel trilogy, and Empire Magazine recently spoke to the actress, who talked about “owning” the role and generally less trepidatious about the part and the expectations around it.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Whether or not we finally do get some new Star Wars on the big screen in the years to come, the future of the franchise is still very bright, thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, which has already expanded across multiple spinoffs full of Original Trilogy nostalgia and exciting new characters. While many hardcore fans may have disliked the latest sequel trilogy of the Star Wars cinematic universe, these movies were a gateway into the future of the franchise going forward, which was full of potential to make something new and continue the franchise’s legacy.
At the Star Wars Celebration Event in 2023, that potential was realized when the return of Daisy Ridley, who played Rey Skywalker in the last trilogy, was confirmed in the upcoming Star Wars: New Jedi Order.

Star Wars has several projects in progress, including a new film directed by Mangold set thousands of years in the past and Waititi’s secretive project that he teased would upset fans. Somewhere in between, there’s ‘Star Wars: Episode X’ tentatively titled ‘New Jedi Order,’ which seems closely tied to its storyline.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, the new movie focuses on Rey’s journey after ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it follows Rey as she endeavors to rebuild the Jedi Order. Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were slated to write the script, but Steven Knight took over. The story unfolds 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ delving into the aftermath of war and the state of the galaxy post-First Order, with the Jedi facing upheaval. Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Rey is committed to honoring her promise to Luke by rebuilding the Jedi Order, drawing inspiration from the books.

Well, Han Solo and Princess Leia had a jedi child in Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren, so what about Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker?
The next Star Wars movie from filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, will see the further adventures of Rey post the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, one reported string being that the character starts up a Jedi Academy.
Catching up with Ridley at Deadline’s SXSW studio, the actress tells us, “I would say she probably doesn’t have children seeing she’s a Jedi.” We’ll, ya never know. Star Wars canon does change from time to time.
In regards to what she’s heard on the new film, which won’t come until after 2026’s Jon Favreau directed Mandalorian and Grogu Star Wars movie: “Literally what I know is what was announced last year, I’m waiting to read a script.

Star Wars has been taking it slow for the past few years, staving off a big theatrical release in favor of telling stories on the small screen, via shows like Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, and The Bad Batch. a slew of Star Wars video games has been able to hype up fans too, introducing new characters like Cal Kestis, who fans hope will make his live-action debut soon.
Cal Kestis, in Jedi: Fallen Order
However, while Cal Kestis’ appearance in a live-action property might take some time, there are plenty of references in each show, film, and animated series that tie all these corners of the Star Wars universe together. While a lot of fans expected him to show up in The Mandalorian, it seems that the character has had a sneaky connection with another beloved Star Wars show all along

Jon Favreau – the creator of ‘The Mandalorian‘ TV series – claimed that the script for ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 was finished even before Season 3 officially ended, and now it seems that the fourth season might not even happen after all.
Season 3 wrapped up with Moff Gideon seemingly defeated for good and Mando officially adopting Grogu, making him his little apprentice and his son, Din Grogu. They seemed to find peace, which means a completely new threat ought to emerge for Season 4 to happen.
Several weeks after the SAG-AFTRA and writer strikes ended, industry-wide rumors started swirling around about ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 getting booted completely and turned into a movie. Then, those rumors got even more legit when we recently heard that Pedro Pascal won’t physically return for ‘The Mandalorian’ due to his commitments on ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 and 2024’s new ‘Gladiator’ film. Instead, he’d only provide Mando’s voiceover.

The ‘Star Wars’ universe has been expanding exponentially over the past decade or so, with numerous shows, animated series, and even a ton of new movies. The sequel trilogy was a success, and the fans quickly fell in love with Kylo Ren – one of the main antagonists of the trilogy, portrayed by the talented Adam Driver.
Eventually, Kylo Ren turned back to the Light Side and became Ben Solo again, sacrificing himself for the greater good. As it usually happens in ‘Star Wars,’ fans were hoping that the death wasn’t permanent. “It’s not what I expected,” says Daisy Ridley as she offers a couple of her thoughts on her next Star Wars film.
The big reveal at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event was that Daisy Ridley would be returning to reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in a film currently slated for 2026.
While there are many out there that aren’t overly enamoured with the way the Rey’s story (and the entire sequel trilogy) concluded, a new film offers Lucasfilm a golden opportunity to take the type of creative risks that both the character and the wider films lacked throughout the sequel trilogy films.
Ridley has talked to Collider about the process of coming back to Star Wars, revealing that she only got the call a few weeks before the Celebration fan event where she was introduced to the world as the returning face of the franchise.

As you’re probably aware, “Star Wars” and Lucasfilm are at an inflection point. Having pivoted towards streaming for several years, “The Mandalorian,” etc., “Star Wars” Celebration earlier this year indicated that the new future would return to cinemas, announcing three “Star Wars” movies by Dave Filoni, one formerly from Damon Lindelof that will include Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker, and a prequel set in ancient Jedi times from filmmaker James Mangold.

Contains spoilers for Ahsoka S1, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, The Clone Wars, and non-canon Star Wars Legends novels
Galaxy-hopping space-whales’s Mando-verse series Ahsoka hasn’t been afraid to really dig into the nooks and crannies of Star Wars lore, increasingly drawing on both Rebels and The Clone Wars deep cuts as the season progresses. And so, as we collectively try and process the show’s epic fifth chapter, ‘The Shadow Warrior’, it’s important that we take a moment to talk about the two – yes, two – rare Force powers we get to see in this week’s episode.
Are you all swotted up on the sacred Jedi texts (Aka the Canon and Legends novels)? How’s your working knowledge of PlayStation voyages to the galaxy far, far away? If your answer to any of the above is “Eh?”, then fear not. As a wise Master Yoda once said,...

The Walt Disney Company is one of the biggest conglomerates in Hollywood, with dozens of movie studios under its umbrella. Disney currently holds full ownership over Lucasfilm’s ‘Star Wars,’ Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe, and all the 20th Century Studios’ franchises, including ‘Alien’ and James Cameron’s ‘Avatar.’
We still remember all the delays caused by the pandemic of Covid-19 back in 2020. Those delays were really a headache for movie studios, cinemas, and movie lovers in general. Three years later, we might have left the pandemic in the past, but a huge amount of movie delays is still very much a thing, as Disney proved just now.
Many MCU movies have been delayed too. You can read more about that on our sister site Comic Basics.

As announced at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm is not yet done with characters from the Skywalker saga. A new feature, set 15 years after "The Rise of Skywalker," will see Daisy Ridley return as Rey Skywalker, now a Jedi Master. Other Jedi, whose identities remain as yet unknown, will be in disarray. Chances are, they won't call it "Episode X," just to keep the sanctity of the Skywalker saga at George Lucas' planned nine episodes, yet it's definitely a continuation of the universe we know and (mostly) love.
Here's where we all hope they learn from the sequel trilogy's mistakes. Love or hate any of those films individually, most agree that any problems they have arose from Lucasfilm not developing a coherent plan, thereby allowing directors J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson to seemingly contradict each other, with some awkward reconciliation at the end. "The Rise of Skywalker" couldn't possibly fill all the plot holes that ensued,...

This year’s Star Wars Celebration brought forth a bevy of announcements. From the unveiling of the newest Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer to the teases of upcoming shows like the new season of Andor and the live-action Ahsoka series, Lucasfilm is showing fans that there is a bright future for the Star Wars brand. One of the continually developing projects was the announcement of a new chapter in Star Wars features that was originally to be written by Damon Lindelof and directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Lindelof would eventually part from the project, but it has been revealed that Obaid-Chinoy’s film involves the return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey.
The new untitled Rey films have also been revealed to be a new trilogy, with Obaid-Chinoy helming the first instalment. The only current details known are that it will involve the rebuilding of the Jedi Order and the New Republic.

It's official, Daisy Ridley is returning once again as Rey Skywalker for one more film in the "Star Wars" timeline, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and written by Steven Knight ("Peaky Blinders"). Despite the missed potential, I remain a massive fan of the sequel trilogy and its characters, so I should be happy to see it, right? Here's a perfect opportunity for Lucasfilm to set things right; to wash away the sins of "The Rise of Skywalker" and do justice to one of the Skywalker Saga's most promising and fresh characters.
Since it was just announced last week at this year's "Star Wars Celebration," details on the film are currently as vague as possible. There was a moment during Star Wars Celebration — the fan convention where Lucasfilm previews its upcoming Star Wars content — when attendees witnessed history.
When Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead took the stage for the “Ahsoka” panel, it marked the first time in the event’s 23-year history that three female leads were showcased. In the live-action series, Dawson plays the Ahsoka Tano, Liu Bordizzo plays Sabine Wren, and Winstead plays Hera Syndulla — characters that were previously introduced in the animated “Star Wars The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” shows.
“I think what’s so cool about this show is that these characters have existed for years now in animation,” Dawson told TheWrap following the panel. “I definitely feel like there’s a breakup in the fandom from the movies to the live-action shows to the animation. And to now have that confluence I think is really special.

On almost any other day, a train car full of Mandalorians, Grand Admiral Thrawns, Ahsokas, and Obi-Wans may have seemed strange. But for the four days of Star Wars Celebration, this was the norm on the 8 a.m. Dlr train. Even before you stepped foot inside the event’s vast ExCeL Centre venue in East London, the Star Wars community was well represented, with people of all ages and ethnicities cosplaying as their favorite characters, be they as popular as Darth Vader or as niche as the umbrella-like lightsaber-wielding Sith Lord from “Star Wars: Visions.”
If you need a reminder that, sometimes, fandoms can be good, Star Wars Celebration is it. We need to talk about Ben Solo, once again. Starting with "The Force Awakens," Kylo Ren has been a controversial adversary in the sequel trilogy of "Star Wars." A servant of the First Order, Ben Solo (Adam Driver) was the brooding, patricidal son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and a fanboy of his grandpa Darth Vader. Depending on certain points of view, he was either a sad boy deserving of redemption or a brat who never received any grace. But even at his worst, Kylo Ren had an allure that couldn't be denied.
However you feel about Kylo Ren, things are about to get more controversial. The 2023 Star Wars Celebration announced an upcoming untitled "Star Wars" movie directed by "Ms. Marvel" Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy. It's set 15 years after "Rise of Skywalker," with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey Skywalker to train the new Jedi generation. Whether or not Ben will explicitly be brought up,...

Daisy Ridley is taking the lead in the next Star Wars cinematic event. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced the news at London's Star Wars Celebration on April 7, revealing that Ridley's character Rey will be the center of the franchise's first big-screen production since 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker." The new feature will follow Rey as she creates a new Jedi Order, per Variety.
"Ms. Marvel"'s Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the project based on a script by "Peaky Blinders" writer Steven Knight, who joined after the original writers, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, exited the project earlier in 2023.
A follow-up movie to "The Rise of Skywalker" has been in the works for a long time, though numerous previous projects have fizzled. In December 2020, "Wonder Woman"'s Patty Jenkins was slated to helm a film called "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron," set to open in December 2023, but the project stagnated and...

There’s surprising news out of “Celebration,” the movable feast pep rally that the Star Wars franchise holds for itself. This year’s event is being held in London, and it opened with a bang as big as an exploding Death Star.
Daisy Ridley will return to the galaxy far, far away and reprise her role of Rey (sometimes called Rey Skywalker) in one of the upcoming Star Wars films. The untitled project is set 15 years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Ridley’s Rey will appear as Jedi master, teaching at a Jedi academy. It is unclear if she is the principal character or not.
Ridley herself appeared on stage with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Lucasfilm big Kathleen Kennedy to the gasps of the assembled fans.

Daisy Ridley is returning to the “Star Wars” universe, it was announced at Star Wars Celebration in London on Friday. Ridley will reprise the character of Rey in a new film to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, set 15 years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
“My heart is pounding,” Ridley said as she took the stage. “I am so thrilled to be at Celebration with all of you in London. Thank you, Kathleen [Kennedy] and Sharmeen for having me back. I’m so happy to be continuing this journey.”
Obaid-Chinoy said the film will be immersed in a Jedi academy with a new Jedi Master, Rey. The story finds Rey “rebuilding a new Jedi Order.”
“I’ve spent the majority of my life meeting real heroes battling oppressive regimes, which is why I’m interested in a new Jedi Order,” Obaid-Chinoy said. The filmmaker recently directed episodes of “Ms. Marvel.

When you’re stumped on finding the perfect look for Halloween, a superhero costume almost always saves the day. While there’s always the reliable last-minute Clark Kent get-up (think a basic Superman tee beneath a half-opened white button-down) — there’s also no shortage of inspiration from the recent lineup of releases from Marvel, DC Comics and many other pop culture franchises.
For starters, arriving in theaters soon is Black Adam (out Oct. 21), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (out Nov. 11) and Shazam! 2 (Dec. 16), and other action-packed films and TV series that landed this year include Thor: Love and Thunder, Moon Knight, The Batman and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, to name just a few franchises that translate well into ensembles for trick-or-treating season.

I’ll never forget seeing The Rise of Skywalker for the first time. I initially had little interest in scrambling to see the movie on opening weekend, but it’s sometimes hard to ignore the appeal of an “event movie” at a time when there are so few films that fall into that category. So, I grabbed some last-minute opening weekend tickets and soon discovered that the roar of the crowd at the sight of the Star Wars logo was enough to draw me back in. Despite the franchise’s struggles, I was still struck by that wonderful “This is it!” feeling that the debut of a new Star Wars movie should inspire.
Then the movie happened. I won’t call The Rise of Skywalker the absolute worst Star Wars film (although it’s in that conversation), but I do know that I’ve never seen a new Star Wars...

The upcoming Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series will reunite two giants of the galaxy far, far away for the first time since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. Ewan McGregor reprises his role as the legendary Jedi Master, now living in exile on Tatooine and watching over a young Luke Skywalker from a distance, with Hayden Christensen set to also return as Darth Vader.
But these aren’t the only Star Wars characters returning for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are also reprising their Prequel Trilogy roles as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru respectively. And may there be yet more characters we don’t yet know about? It seems very likely, considering just how cameo-heavy these live-action Disney+ shows tend to be.
Rumors abound regarding which other characters may cameo on the show. Everyone from little Luke and the Grand Inquisitor to Bail Organa and a young Princess...

Rey Skywalker has absolutely no time for Ted Cruz.
In response to the Texas senator’s characterizing of her — and virtually every female character in “Star Wars” — as a damsel in distress, Ridley had the perfect clapback.
In reality, Daisy Ridley didn’t even know Cruz took a shot at her character in his defense of Gina Carano after the actress was fired from “The Mandalorian.” It wasn’t until an interview with Yahoo Entertainment that she learned of his comments. “Hilarious” the actress deadpanned upon having his tweet read back to her.
“I did not know” Ridley answered, when asked if she was aware of Cruz’s words. “And I’m very happy to be an emotionally tortured Jedi – who doesn’t leave their state when it’s having a terrible time.”

Daisy Ridley Hits Back at Ted Cruz Over ‘Star Wars’ Diss Labeling Rey an ‘Emotionally Tortured Jedi’
When informed by Yahoo Entertainment that Ted Cruz had recently dissed Rey Skywalker as “an emotionally tortured Jedi,” Daisy Ridley reacted with the perfect Cruz takedown: “I did not know, and I am very happy to be an emotionally tortured Jedi who doesn’t leave their state when it’s having a terrible time.” The “Star Wars” actress is referring to last week’s controversy over Ted Cruz’s decision to leave Texas and fly to Mexico as unprecedented winter storms left many Texans without power and heat.
Cruz originally dissed Rey as part of his reaction to Disney’s firing of Gina Carano from “The Mandalorian.” The studio parted ways with Carano over controversial social media posts, including one that compared the current U.S. political divide to Nazi Germany. Carano and Cruz are both Republicans from Texas, and Cruz decided to blast Disney in the aftermath of Carano...

The Love Witch, directed by Anna Biller, is a feminist horror film well-deserving of a revisit this October.
“In 2016, feminist film director Anna Biller released The Love Witch and it has been a part of my regular Halloween film viewing every year since. Fans of Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels about the resident of 221B Baker Street — along with the legion of movie, TV, radio-play and stage-production adaptations of his mysteries — are also familiar with the recurring character of his older brother Mycroft, who has some very important but vaguely defined job in the British government. (As for details regarding the more obscure Sigerson Holmes, well … you’ll have to inquire,...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was a disappointing finale to Disney’s Sequel Trilogy. After The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, I was interested to see how Rey’s journey would end. I particularly liked that she wasn’t a member of the galactic nobility and that any random junk scavenger could be the next hero that saves the galaxy. It’s an uplifting, egalitarian message…one that was completely ruined by the nonsensical revelation that she was secretly Emperor Palpatine’s granddaughter all along. Ah well.
We left Rey on Tatooine, where she buried Luke and Leia’s lightsabers and declared that she was now Rey Skywalker as the ghosts of the two aforementioned heroes smiled at her. While doing so, she also unveiled her own lightsaber which (in a first for live-action Star Wars) had a yellow blade.
Unfortunately, though, as this is the end of the movie,...

The three Star Wars trilogies are some of the most-watched movies of all time. Ever since A New Hope smashed into theaters in 1977, they’ve been a huge part of the cultural landscape, with each generation having their own set of films to enjoy. Now known as the Skywalker Saga, they comprise a nine-movie epic that begins with Anakin Skywalker’s childhood and concludes with Rey Skywalker’s triumph over the resurrected Emperor.
One especially interesting facet is the ways they fit together and how many years each trilogy takes to complete. Using the Bby/Aby timeframe, which puts A New Hope‘s Battle of Yavin as the turning point in the two chronologies, we know that the time from The Phantom Menace to The Rise of Skywalker comprises 67 years. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the trilogies are equally spaced out.
For example, The Phantom Menace begins in 32 Bby,...

Star Wars fans have been discussing The Rise of Skywalker ever since its premiere back in December late last year, but it seems that the Mouse House is getting tired of all the controversy surrounding the last movie in the Skywalker Saga.
J.J. Abrams’ concluding entry in the Sequel Trilogy proved to be just as divisive as its predecessor. Where The Last Jedi subverted expectations and tried to innovate the franchise, The Rise of Skywalker got hung up on nostalgic elements and fan-service moments that called back to the things people loved about the first two trilogies. Alas, catering to fan opinion ultimately backfired in Disney’s face. Whether you’re a fan of Rian Johnson’s middle act or hate it with a fiery passion, you can’t deny that Episode IX has its fair share of problems, most of them involving the fact that the movie, at its best,...
