The Godfather (1972)
In this business, you kill or you get killed.

The hunter becomes the hunted. Those who live by the sword, have better watch their backs. This is the essence of this film(and the other two as well). In the underworld of the most powerful crime families in the 1940's and 1950's violence begets violence.

Revenge is also Rampant. Every body takes revenge on every body-there is no place to hide. I really like the wedding scene that takes place in the first 25 minutes. This sequence took a week to shoot and involved 750 extras!

Marlon Brando plays Don Vito Corleone, the head of the Corleone crime family. No one plays this role better than he does. He gives a powerful performance. Al Pacino is Michael, who takes over after Sonny(James Caan) is gunned down at a toll booth. Sonny was in line to be the next don.

Overall, this film is a good film-but how can it be no. 1 in the top 250 list? This list is determined by the votes people give, but it's not the best movie ever made. Citizen Kane is IMHO.

This film is part of the "Godfather" DVD collection. There is also a bonus disc with bonus materials. On it it tells you more than you ever wanted to know about all three films. It took me about 4-5 hours to watch all this including looking at the photo galleries.

It's my understanding that all 3 movies will be released separately-but the only feature that they will contain is the commentaries by the director. Get the DVD collection if you want other bonus stuff.
