This is a cute, fun film to watch. There is no deep philosophical meaning, no moral, not even a whole lot of story here. By the way, the word "Shag" in this film refers to a local (Carolinas exclusive) dance and music genre (Beach music). It doesn't mean what most people now use it to mean. It's sort of (well, maybe more than that) a chick flick, too. Some girls take off to the beach (their parents all think they're somewhere else) to meet guys. But it's just FUN. AND, it has Phoebe Cates, probably the cutest actress to ever grace the silver screen, in it. However, all the other girls are mighty cute, too. This film has a lot of eye candy in it, and that definitely helps in making it fun to watch. Story? Moral? Bah, who cares?
