Drowning in Pessimism
20 September 2000
This movie about the dark side of the movie business is worth seeing for Spacey's clever performance alone.. Period. I am tired of films that are considered profound merely because they present human nature at its worst. For a movie about movies, this film is very uncinematic, relying on its clever dialogue to make its points. As for the "surprise" ending, presented without irony, I can only conclude that the screen writer is a misogynist.
