Greece finally marries democracy.
16 October 2001
Title translation attempts: Marriage in the End, or Wedding at Perithorio (a border village in Macedonia). The movie relates in an ironic way how two elderly people who already fell in love as teenagers, finally get married. It is a metaphor on Greece's highly variable relationship with democracy in the 20th century, and at the same time a tribute to freedom of choice in general. Great fun to watch several times, especially if you are a foreigner like me and you don't know Greece very well.
