Confidence (2003)
6/10
A Fair Con Movie
24 May 2003
Confidence is the standard who's conning who now film, not overly complicated but fast-paced and mildly entertaining. The language was foul, the nudity was gratuitous.

As others have said, it's not the Sting, but it's certainly not as awful as The Spanish Prisoner. I found it very comparable to Ocean's Eleven. The actors ooze "Aren't we so cool" throughout the predictable plots of both movies.

What lowers this movie a notch below Ocean's Eleven is the creepy Dustin Hoffman character. I'm not a big Hoffman fan anyway, but that was too much. It's almost sad. While Al Pacino, who's roughly the same age, seems to have revived his career in Insomnia and The Recruit, Hoffman has sunk to accepting a part like this.

Overall, worth the matinee price, but not one I'll watch again.
