Club Dread (2004)
Underrated and Misunderstood
5 November 2004
Obviously no one got this joke on this one, and I think Broken Lizard is more than likely kicking themselves for thinking that most of America would understand this movie. It's a great idea with huge appeal to one crowd... Those who like really bad 80's slasher movies. Of course they branded their own style of comedy, and along with the shoddy plot you see in a usual oldschool slasher you have some really great comedy by the boys of Broken Lizard.

I thought this one was every bit as funny as Super Troopers. Of course most didn't because they were expecting the humor in this one to be the exact same AS Super Troopers, when they're clearly two different movies with opposite comedy styles. While Troopers went for gags, this one goes for parody on oldschool slashers.

Remember guys, these boys went to COLLEGE. They're not going to push out generic material and the same jokes movie after movie... Learn to open your eyes and maybe understand what a movie is about before you just go in thinking it's going to be some stupid joke fest instead of an intelligently written parody.

9/10 on my scale. Performances by Paxton and " Thorny " ( His last name slipped my mind, as it's rather long ) are truly outstanding and had me laughing each time they were on the screen.

" Play margaritaville! "

" ... I think you mean Pena Colada Burg... "

Don't see the movie if you're not going to understand it.
