Sarkar (2005)
8/10
Sarkar is Ram Gopal verma at his Best.

I was always apprehensive of a film inspired from "The Godfather". But RGV proves once again that he is one of the best filmmakers in Indian cinema. Sarkar is as different from Godfather as east from west. Its a fitting tribute to the greatest film ever made and i don't think anybody can do a better job than this. You just can not make a better Indian adaptation of GF.

From the opening sequence till the last scene this is film-making at its finest. Camera-work is so amazing that it should put another Indian filmmakers to shame. The background score though repeated a few times is superb. The story is simple and predictable but its the execution which is simply excellent.

Sarkar also boasts of some excellent performances by Amitabh and particularly Abhishek who proves his Bachchan surname in the last 20 minutes of the film. Seems like if he gets the right directors and the right roles he will be able to form a league of his own. Sarkar is a brilliant film and some people are dumb enough to look for godfather in this film and some idiots watch too much chopra/johar crap that they have to criticise this film without any valid reason. Its a brave effort from RGV and it needs to be seen and admired. Well done Ram Gopal Verma and thank you for a great film.
