In the pilot episode Rich Little's character was writing a menu, but he also had lots of make it rich schemes. One was "Dial a joke" then there was "Drive a Drunk", both pretty good ideas before their time. Some other jobs were doing interviews for a computer dating company.
I'm re-watching the tapes I have and I have to say it stands up pretty well. It compares favorably to "Dharma and Greg" which seems to be a remake of this show.
