What Makes Running Scared a remarkable film
16 August 2006
The best thing about Running Scared is the filming technique. I loved that forward rushing movement and the seamless way the action could go from artificial action to the real thing. Anything from the path of a bullet or a hockey puck and the constant shift from real time to fast forward and slow motion. Basically, this "realistic" action film resembled a cartoon. I especially liked the treatment of the characters as cartoon figures (or characters in a fairy tale) at the end of the film. The speed of events reminded me of "Run, Lola, Run." Certainly, the plot is exciting, but it is also convoluted and twists and turns so much, I wasn't really sure what happened. As a result, I found myself paying more attention to how things were happening in terms of film technique.
