Good, not great.

I'm in awe of all the bad reviews for Feast, it's certainly not a " horror " movie by any means but it's a fairly entertaining, somewhat gory film that genre fans will get a kick out of.

The film isn't scary in the least and I'm sorry that people felt mislead into believing that would be the case when viewing Feast.

Feast sort of has that oldschool horror film to it, but it has its tongue planted firmly in cheek. The creators of this film obviously know the horror genre rather well, and instead of making a scary film that would shock the world they made a film that genre fans will definitely enjoy.

There's cheesy characters, terrible dialogue, some decent gore, and some good laughs throughout the film. It reminds me in of those oldschool low budget 80's flicks that everyone these days seems to appreciate ( Myself included ).

Lets all keep in mind that this film was made on a very low budget and really tries very hard to give you big bang for the small buck invested. Low budget horror films in the same vein as this like The Evil Dead, Re-Animator, and such were big hits for being unintentionally cheesy and genre defining at the same time... Feast is sort of doing the same thing, but the creators are doing everything intentionally based on a genre they obviously love.

I think in about ten or twenty years this film will achieve cult status and gain some more respect, for now Joe Blow who was mislead by a few commercials will have his say about how it's not scary and not a horror film.

For genre fans only, I enjoyed it thoroughly and anyone big on cult/black comedy " horror " films should enjoy this outing quite a bit.
