Best of the Later Marx Brothers Films
9 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
After A Night At the Opera, this is definitely the best of the later Marx brothers films. While it doesn't have the youthful energy of the earlier films like Duck Soup & Horsefeathers, it makes up for it with some creative comedy of its own.

A young Frank Tashlin contributed some of the sight gags in this film. Frank would go on in the 1950's to do a lot of sight gags for Jerry Lewis & several others, but his early contributions in this film really contribute. He is the genius behind the Harpo & the wall gag early in the film, & several other physical sequences later.

The plot hangs around some stolen gold hidden in a secret room in a Casablanca building. It has been a while since I have seen it, but this film is quite entertaining. The supporting cast includes the brilliant Sig Rugman who did a lot of great comedy films in support.
