Gerry Butler is so very handsome. I just put the movie on pause a lot, just to sit and look at him. He is the handsomest man I have ever seen. He is a great actor. I have seen him in his other movies and he is fantastic in them all. He made the film great, the story of course was sweet, and very touching. It is not a huge movie, but it is a touching story. I really liked it.

It is nice to know they still make heart warming movies. Dear Frankie starts out pretty slow, but builds and you get an idea of a Mom and 9 yr. old son and Grandmother making it on their own. It is a hard life, but she makes the best of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie just for the simplicity of the story. Lonely young boy wants to see his Father whom he never remembers seeing, Mom hides the truth from the boy, and writes letters to him pretending to be from the boy's Father. Some Mom's have to do this in real life when a problem arises from a Father not being there for a child. It falls to the Mom and she feels the stress of it. So the plot is very believable, and you feel the sadness as the Mom is pressured to produce said Father. I had some teary eyed moments as I watched this sentimental movie. I could feel the emotion she was feeling, and the way she protected her son, as Mothers do. Life can be hard for a single parent, we can identify with her hopeless feelings, and wondering what she will do. Hopelessness seems to get the better of her. Then something you least expect comes her way. I will not spoil the movie for you. You will enjoy it too I think.
