Bette Midler declares, "The moral standards by which this country lives by have died."
12 April 2007
"Primetime TV. Major networks. They said it couldn't be done," Midler quirks. Bette did it, however, and she did it right. From the moment she appeared on the stage, coming out of a giant clam shell and singing "Oklahoma!" with her cast of native dancers, she took control of nearly every television set in America.

Not that anyone was surprised. A performer of Bette's caliber always meets her audiences expectations. The show was simply divine. Very notable for a duet with Dustin Hoffman (The Graduate), "Shoot The Breeze," and an excellent rendition of "Do You Wanna Dance" that shifts into a wild performance of "Higher and Higher" without catching a breath.

For those that seen this when it aired (way before my time...), there is a neat little promotional commercial for her album Broken Blossom.
