Mortal Kombat: Conquest (1998–1999)
10/10
This is on par with the movie
8 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This show is aimed at adults so don't think its toned down. MK Conquest is a prequel taking place hundreds of years before the movies. The 1st episode you see Kung Lao (wearing the hat for a second) beat Shang Tsung. Although Goro didn't appear in the series it shows what lead to him and Shang meeting. You see the origin of Sub Zero, how he and Scorpion met.

A ton of characters appear throughout the series: Noob Saibot, Reptile, Sub Zero, Scorpion, Rain, Kitana, Mileena, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Raiden.

The villains on the show were a bigger threat than the ones on the movie in my opinion because the villains would occasionally win. Now in all fairness, some of the story lines may not coincide with the games because this show aired in 1998-1999 while a new MK game comes out every couple of years. The fight scenes are a lot better than expected. The only bad thing is they don't have the music to go with the fights like the 1st movie.

Its said the show got canceled because apparently a higher budget was requested. The show hasn't been released on DVD(well not legally anyway) and thats a shame. Its a must see though, better than MK2 and on par with the 1st movie.
