Murder! (1930)
6/10
Early Hitchcock mystery.
6 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of director Alfred Hitchcock's British efforts and still very well worth watching. Herbert Marshall is Sir John Menier, who is a juror in a homicide trial and has second thoughts after voting to convict a young stage starlet Diana Baring(Norah Baring)of murder. John organizes the pieces of the crime with a pretense of staging a play based on the murder. This he hopes draws out the real killer wanting to reenact his dirty deed. Sir John battles the clock needing to find the real killer before the winsome Baring is executed. Hitchcock even at this time knew how to milk a plot. Other players include: Edward Chapman, Marie Wright, Miles Mander and Esme Percy.
