Review of Privilege

Privilege (1967)

see it, hear it, feel it
11 December 2007
if you have not seen or heard this movie or soundtrack, you cannot understand fully the 'power' of music and the fear it inspired in the what we call the 'establishment'. brilliant, certainly flawed, and critics could have a 'field day', but that would equate to seeing a withered 'tree and missing the forest'. if the Spirit Awards were then, it would have swept. this is not a period piece nor to be seen as 'campy' entertainment. a serious sociological, philosophical attempt to show to what measures governments will go to 'maintain' its views and to coerce the public. Weller's direction shows the 'direction' of what his vision and mission would be over the next decades.
