Warning: Spoilers
Producer Val Lewton strays from his string of RKO horror chillers. The eschewed lighting, the camera-work creating anxiety in the shadows. The subject is not what goes bump in the dark, but a social commentary of the fear of the uprising of juvenile delinquency. When parents don't have the time to supervise their children, who actually is to blame for their actions? This drama is about two households with working parents that have limited time to more involved with their children. A young teen romance tries to survive with individual temptations in the way. Still you yearn for a balance between happiness and dread. Not an outstanding cast, but effective anyway. The players: Jean Brooks, Glen Vernon, Bonita Granville, Vanessa Brown, Lawrence Tierney, Kent Smith and Dickie Moore.
