Anna Espinosa returns, and time is running out
30 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Sydney is sent to Oxford to steal a clock that was made specifically for the 15th century prophet Rambaldi. Sydney's old enemy, Anna Espinosa, is on the same mission, but Syd manages to outsmart her. However, the clock does not work anymore and Sydney has to go to Italy to find the only man who can fix it. Anna and her team are again on her trail. Between missions, she also has to prepare for an extra hard lie-detector test. This is one of the best episodes so far: the writing (by Jeff Pinkner, who went on to work on "Lost" and "Fringe") is particularly good, with no fewer than THREE major cliffhangers at the end; that gorgeous Amazon Gina Torres (what a body!!!) returns in grand fashion; guest stars Tobin Bell and Jack Axelrod give outstanding performances in short roles; but perhaps most intriguing - and genre-bending - of all is the strong suggestion that the clockmaker (Axelrod) that Sydney meets in Italy may actually be 500 years old! Not only that, but he might have known that he would die as soon as he fixed that clock! As I said before, very good scripting here. *** out of 4.
