Since watching this film I have started checking the IMDb reviews for every movie. It's that bad.
Poor acting and cinematography don't help, but it's the story that really let's this movie down.
It manages to spoil the whole story before the cameras even start rolling, and you get nothing more than this initial (two sentence-odd) disclaimer. It does not flesh it out at all. You don't at any point care what happens to the characters as it has already been spoilt, and you don't ever get the feeling that they stand any chance.
It doesn't attempt to be a "Torture Porn" movie except for one fairly gratuitous scene, and it doesn't have the scares of a horror movie.
Although they do ramp it up exponentially towards the end throughout most of the movie you're left feeling that if they didn't have cameras rolling you wouldn't really put any of the activity down to paranormal sources. Sort of like waking up and seeing a door open and wondering if you forgot to shut it last night before going to bed. As it turns out it probably doesn't matter, the dog probably knocked it open.
But most importantly, the movie isn't fun. And that counts for a lot.
