The Box (I) (2009)
7/10
not as bad .. not as good.. but it requires YOU to articulate why ?

Warning: Spoilers
the lesson 'to get' by this film is obvious enough - "all actions has consequence" - some may not be obvious, and some may come back to bite you.

the setting of 70's is probably due to the beginning of scientific , uh, trend, shall we say? Right after the moon landing, and with all the good sci-fi writers..etc. And withheld from today's overload and mega trends of technology innovation. Even maybe post awareness of critical thinking and post modern philosophy and engineering. And maybe some element related to the director.

the problem of this film, for me, is it tries to explains too much. To explain the background of Frank Langella, the background of his involvement with some NASA project. Such as the other parent - in the elaborate useless car chase scene. Such as the motel, pool, library...etc. These takes away the tension, suspense, mystery of the decision involve around 'the button'. It should have concentrated and elaborate on the decision, or the round about consequence.

However, the movie is well made. Pacing wise, cinematography wise, acting wise, .. just needs a little more depth and less peripherals.
