Proves that poverty, crime and drugs come along with moral degradation
4 February 2011
One of the excellent movies ever made, deserving 18th place in the IMDb TOP 250 movies list.

An incredibly touching story doesn't seem to be a true story, but you are gonna be amazingly struck to know that this all is based on true events.

The story just shows the sad history of Brazil, and the rest of Latin American underdeveloped countries. The poverty, crimes and drugs prove to be the reason of moral degradation. The disgusting thing is that children were involved in those events. Children were raised under these conditions, they didn't know that there was another side of life and the world. The terrible conditions, murders of innocent people, drug abuse were a daily life things. And that is incredibly moving, that some people proved to save their humanity and soul unharmed, depicting a young talented photographer living under these conditions and telling the story of his childhood.

The film deserves applause for incredible acting and directing. The screenplay writer was great at his job too.
