Warning: Spoilers
This is different. I would not necessarily say that 'different' implies good (or bad). But this is definitely a film from another angle. As a warning it is very depressing – the topic is concerned with the leftovers of war – children. Most of them have been violated in some way.

It takes place in a refugee camp on the Iraq-Turkish border. The events occur just before the U.S. led invasion in 2003. All the main actors in this film are children and to some extent maybe that is the flaw – as the film goes arbitrarily from one stage to another. It's not particularly coherent to me what the ultimate message of all this is. It's anti-war obviously and I have no quarrel with that.

Perhaps I am over-analyzing but I did have quibbles as I was watching. There was no adult supervision of these children; but this, after all, is a refugee camp so maybe that is standard. Also the children seemed to have one leader – a boy who was the satellite –tech kid. Only one leader in a large group of children seems rather unusual to me – I would have expected some competition – a vying for leadership. What most perplexed me was that in this large group of children there was only one girl. It gave the film a touch of unreality.

Nevertheless it is worth a watch and the on-location scenery is riveting. Be prepared though, because there is no happy resolution to this. This film will leave its mark on you. This is what happens in war.
