The mystery of Rambaldi deepens
29 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode it becomes clear that Rambaldi, his inventions and his prophecies are going to be of considerable significance. Sydney has three missions; first she must recover a clock that was made for Rambaldi from a laboratory in Oxford, then she must take it to the clockmaker's last living relative, who is also a clockmaker to repair it and finally after the clock is combined with the 'golden sun' a set of coordinates are revealed so she and Dixon head there. At every stage Anna Espinosa and K-Directorate are there and on each occasion things get more dangerous for Sydney! Away from the missions Sydney also has to worry about a lie detector test she is going to be put through by SD-6 and Will is taken off the story concerning Danny's murder only to find evidence that an intelligence agency was somehow involved with Eloise Kurtz.

This was a great episode; the levels of threat increased both from K-Directorate and from SD-6 internal security; Tobin Bell was great as interrogator Karl Dreyer, it was only a small role but he put in an understated and menacing performance. The other main guest star, Jack AxelRod, also did well as Giovanni Donato, the clock maker Sydney visited who might just be the same man who made the clock for Rambaldi! Will's story, which started rather slowly, has now picked up and is genuinely interesting. If all that wasn't enough Sydney finds evidence to suggest that her father was indeed a KGB agent in the '80s; I wonder what Jack's arguments for his innocence will be this time!
