This week on the USS Nathan James, the crew is experiencing one big surprise after another. The ship's communication officer (COMMO?) intercepts an SOS from a Jamaican fishing boat. It turns out the girl sending traffic is a sole surviving member of a very large crew. I can't remember how many were stuck on that fishing vessel, somewhere between 27 and 1.5 million (I like wide scopes.) The important thing is she is the only survivor and may be the only key to the cure. Are your toes on the edge yet? Just wait. Well the Mad Doctor (Dr. Scott) wants this survivor and wants her now. Here is a little background. The Doc has completely decimated her entire herd of pet monkeys and really needs something living to 'work on???' So the ship and crew are off on another mission, which opens up an entire sea-bag of surprises. First; that evil rogue Russian Cruiser is rooting around like a porpoise-in-heat. Third; the CO goes out on yet another landing party (with Tex even) and this time, manages to get himself lost (and in trouble.) Third; the guy confined is once again allowed into combat. Fourth; the Mad Doctor has almost run out of monkeys (already mentioned – but worthy a second look.) Fifth; this is actually a happy surprise
talk about a mixture of happy-spontaneity and shipboard gleefulness, the Nathan James gives birth to a helicopter (and this little guy is really cute). There is so much happening all at one. I am about as confused as a seven-legged octopus. What will the crew do? What will the CO do? What will the XO do? What will Tex do? What will the last surviving monkeys do? And I won't spill the beans. Watch and find out.
