Warning: Spoilers
"Hanni % Nanni" is the first and shortest film from this movie trilogy that started 5 years ago. The Münster twins play the lead characters from Enid Blyton's novel. They are suspected of having stolen something from a store and that is why they are sent to the girls-only school named Lindenhof. 10 minutes into the film the action there start. They struggle with some other girls, some of the teachers, their parents and life in general. But still they manage to make it a good stay at their new school as they, eventually, get along well with pretty much everybody. We get to watch food fights and pillow fights for example and it seems they have a great time.

This film is also a great example of how popular children films are right now. The cast includes a whole lot of famous actors from Germany such as Katharina Thalbach, Suzanne von Borsody, Anja Kling, Heino Ferch and Hannelore Elsner. Also, Oliver Pocher has a brief cameo. Do not mistake this film for "Das doppelte Lottchen" or "The Parent Trap". this is a different set of twins and they have never been separated. But it still has some of the unavoidable mix-up story lines.

"Hanni & Nanni" is a typical girls movie, also with a predominantly female cast, obviously as it takes place at a girls school for 90% of the movie. And same can be said about the makers of this film. The director is Christine Hartmann and the film is written by Katharina Reschke and Jane Ainscough. Only Ainscough returned for the sequel. In terms of drama I wasn't too wowed, but it certainly has a lot of fun and it's especially entertaining to watch von Borsody's and Thalbach's character (interact). Here and there you also see animals and the Grande Finale is a hard-fought hockey game and the solution to the school's financial struggles. Also the film has quite a few songs included, all by female singers as well. I had a good time and that's why I recommend it. Also check out the sequels. I do not think they were much worse than the first, if at all.
